How does it work if some players in 2 thru 4 actually tie? Do you have to pick the tie?

gdstour
Mar 02 2010, 11:46 PM
Just the top 4 if theres a tie for 4th and hes your 4th guy its good.

The Total Score tiebreaker should be the sum of the total amount of strokes from all holes played,, (including sudden death holes if necessary).

this is why more than math goes into odds making :)

Yes. It's called how to make a profit for the person making book or having/using inside info which is illegal for stock trading. Otherwise, doing the math based on their previous performance is the most objective basis, or doing it parimutuel style where the bettors make the odds which still uses math to produce them. :)

Eventually, we plan to produce separate ratings for top players on open versus wooded versus elevated courses versus bad weather (mudders?) to refine the predictions even more using math. Even using hunches or tendencies still amounts to math because the hunch modifies the oddsmakers numbers by a certain amount which you demonstrated. For example, I wonder how many people plan to watch Anthon in a late round of an event if he's on the second card instead of the top card now that they've seen his recent tendency to scorch the course for a record?

Hey Chuck,
Opening line odds our based on stats combined with betting tendencies. ( how the general public will bet)
A good book maker will certainly have inside information, but I don't think what you talking about applied here?
My pre-event odds were slightly developed para-mutual style, based on the way the pick 4 were coming in. I would have had given a much better value on Avery,,,, like 7-1 to entice players to bet him. ( I had inside information he wasn't putting well leading up to the event or very focused).

You can never give Kenny higher odds than 3 or 4 to 1 in any event.
filed bets in disc golf need to be attractive as rarely does a long shot win a pdga NT

Nikko may always get a good price as people like to root against him,,, kinda like Dallas cowboys used to get good odds because people liked to bet against them ( back in the 70,s and 80,s)

I wish the sport were much bigger I think a cool fantasy wagering league would really add to the viewer-ship of the streaming video,,, next time they should plan to cover the final round ( how did that happen?)
