Presented by TitleDISC!

TitleDISC is proud to bring you the 2010 Wichita Falls Open

At the request of the Wichita Falls DG Club, we are not going to have custom-stamped discs this year, but we *will* have tons of cool stuff in the players packages and in payout! Because this is a PDGA B-tier event, we are guaranteeing at least $500 in added cash for the Pro divisions and a $15 players pack for all amateurs. In true TitleDISC fashion, we will be giving away lots of cool stuff in CTP packages and ring of fire events.

We will be using both of the main courses in Wichita Falls - Lucy and Lake Wichita (Jaycee). These courses will really challenge your short game, but don't leave your long drives at home. If the typical Wichita Falls wind comes out to play... you better bring your overstable stuff too :). You will need a little bit of every part of your game if you want to take home the title!

Saturday will be BYOP doubles. Flex start from 12:00 noon until 5:00pm - $20/team for ams and $30/team for pros. Sunday will be the b-tier event - one round at each course for all divisions. Due to an obscure law in Wichita Falls, we *cannot* take in-person registration at the courses. Please register online at titledisc.com or mail in your check and printed registration form to:

If we have even half as much fun this year as we had last... this is going to be one helluva tournament!

FYI - the players meeting and awards ceremonies will be held at Lucy Park, in the main pavilion. Doubles on Saturday will also be at Lucy!

A quick heads-up to anyone getting a hotel room in Wichita Falls this weekend - The HoJo we used as a host hotel last year is apparently no longer in business. That must be why they didn't return my emails :). Team TitleDISC will be staying at the Courtyard by Marriott, which we got for $45/night on priceline.com. There's no way to guarantee that rate, but I used the "name your own price" feature, selected 2.5 stars or above, bid $45, and the bid was accepted by this 3-star hotel. Worth a shot if you need an affordable room :)

I've gotten a few reports of other people using the method I described above to get the same deal. Looks like the Courtyard by Marriot is going to have quite a few disc golfers staying the night :)

How long does it take/ how far is it from DFW to the first course at WF? I would be driving from just south of the Carrollton area, through Denton, and taking US 380 to Decatur, then US 287 to WF.

Would make for a long road trip, but would be tempting to play some new courses.

It of course depends on how fast you drive, but it's about 2.5 hours from carrollton. Both parks are only a few miles off the highway. Player's meeting is at Lucy :)

It takes me a little over 2 hrs to drive that distance.. I drive this 3 or 4 times a year to visit family or tournaments.. course I drive a bit over whatever speed limit is too.. lol

11 teams for dubs today! We're likely looking at some rain tomorrow, but we still have 46 pre-registered. Unless we get a large number of last-minute entries, it looks like we'll all fit on one course, which makes my job a bit easier :). Very glad to see a carload of golfers in from Amarillo, and I expect another carload from Tulsa / OKC in the morning. The Open field is going to be very competitive!

8:30 players meeting, don't be late!

52 players braved the threatening weather today. We were fortunate enough to have the rain stop just before the first round, pick back up during lunch, then stop again for round 2. Not a single shot of sanctioned disc golf for this tournament was thrown in the rain :). Despite the muddy conditions, JD ripped up the modified Lucy Park this afternoon and took home the 3-stroke victory! Returning WFO champ Coda Hatfield took 2nd, and local hero Andy Newberry tied for 3rd with an up-and-coming am (playing pro) Kody Custard. Kody retained his amateur status for now but this kid has some real game... after worlds, expect to see him taking lots and lots of cash :)

We had a great time running this event and I know everyone who came out to play had a lot of fun too. Big thanks to the Wichita Falls club and Wal-Mart who each sponsored the tournament along with TitleDISC. Another big thanks to Bryan Kee, Calvert Campbell, Ben Stewart, Jack Banks, and all the other locals who pitched in. Also, let's not forget the Seabolts who fed Deidre and me a very tasty lunch!

Looking forward to an even bigger and better WFO next year!
