Only 40 spots left...

Twisted1
Feb 24 2010, 08:48 AM
Last year in OKC the Buzzz won by 21 strokes. I anticipate the Roc to make a comeback and surpass the 21 strokes at the Tulsa event. If you haven't played a one disc yet I recommend it. It points out what works and doesn't work in the short game.

I think i'll go ahead and give the Buzzz a couple of throw saturday, so it's a team format. This is my first disc vs. disc event. Can I use any of my Buzzz's ?

Twisted1

Thats the reason for the challenge! Went out to the park with Wise and it should be really fun in the short placement. Everyone who has played walked away stoked at both discs as well as educated on their short games!

Gotcha Hutch!!!

The reason I came of with the Challenge concept a few years back was for a few reasons...
1- Is the company with the bigger marketing budget really making better discs.
2- To show people the differences in the companies and their process'
3- Newer players don't really fathom they (like Coda, McCabe & Seth Cook) can throw a mid range 300 ft +
4- Non Sanctioned Good Times with friendly, energetic folks.

The companies have made it very affordable to try out the discs. You are getting into the event for $12.00 cheaper than buying the discs @ my store and $18.00 cheaper from most other stores.

:D mid ranges? we all throw putters 300ft these days :P

Twisted1
Feb 25 2010, 10:16 AM
I know Chris... I was thinking of the beginners. :>))) Seriously we all make a big deal out of the whole "drive for show putt for dough" concept... but what happens when thats not enough? Coda shaved about 8 strokes off my game a few years ago by making my driver upshots midrange shots. Having this years event at Centennial will really bring these points to light. And... once again... it's fun! Hopefully mother nature will hook us up too!

Yes, but you will throw the buzz one round and the roc the other round.

Twisted1
Feb 25 2010, 10:53 AM
You throw the Buzzz or Roc for all shots except putts. Putters are permitted from 10m and in only.

sooooooooooo.. being at owasso.. what happens to the poor guy that throws his disc into a tree and deflects into the owasso river never to be seen again? do you just lose? or can you continue with your putter? tbh id prolly throw my buzz in the river were that the case :)

twoputtok
Feb 25 2010, 03:18 PM
First let me clarify that last Sunday was an exception. The park does not have a RIVER. It normally has a small creek running through it. Retreiving discs are not that hard under normal conditions, of which we will have on Saturday. There are even places to cross the creek for retrieval in about 4 spots.

Joe played there yesterday and didn't see any real problems.

lol i know wise was just effin with your course after last week, but its still a valid question, what happens if u lose your 1 disc, say i throw a hyzerbomb on 10 with a roc (a very valid and safe line that i can make 80% of the time, what happens if i hit the tree, drop in the shiz (right next to my xcal) and cant recover it? am i just DQ'd?

Well from what I hear it's obvious that the score at Centennial is Beavers 10 / Twoputt 0. Either that or the whole city of Owasso just happened to flush their toilets all at the same time to make the water rise. I don't remember THAT much rain last week.

twoputtok
Feb 25 2010, 04:39 PM
You know Scott, your same old BS, and constantly ragging on every course but your own has gotten more than a little old.

Are you starting to figure out why no one will take your calls any more?

Why don't you find a life and something that makes you happy, other than ragging on everyone else.

sschumacher
Feb 25 2010, 05:02 PM
Seriously Dave, I'm not ragging on everybody else or everybody elses course for that matter. Just you and yours.:)

After years and years of you doing the same to me are you telling me now that you've finally decided what you want to be when you grow up? You've ran out of bullets and you're not going to rag on me, my course, or anyone else anymore for that matter?

Personally I would like to believe you had it not been for the things I've seen you do to others that never come up here.

Sorry but "The joke" was there and I took it. You were the one that told me not to believe everything I read on the internet so why should you take that comment so personal.

You think anyone really believes that creek is a river???

Ok...since I literaly haven't thrown a Roc in over 3 years and only like 5 times before then, I decided to break one out of the stash box. Wanted to see what it felt like in my hand. So I grabbed a 175 dx san marino.

I am not sure how I am going to throw this disc, it feels so odd in my hand. Like it comes down to far on my palm. This should defenitly be amusing if nothing else on Saturday because this doesn't even feel right throwing it. I think it's the bead on the very bottom that is messing with me :) Go Buzzz's !

oh, i'm sure you'll adjust. I carry a gator, a buzzz, a wasp, and two rocs in my bag. each one does something different and each one feels great once i'm used to it. played mcclure today with my new star gator (meaning i'll carry two) and i love it.

wanna feel something weird in your hand? throw an XD. :)

was it a san marino or ontario mold star roc?

I love throwing rocs but I havent tried the stock stamp star san marino ... the ontario star (feels weird in the hand) and judging by the shape of the discs I wouldn't like the new san marino star ones either.

Rancho star are nice and stable, and I do like the eco star san marinos from 2008 usdgc, because they are flatter and fly nice and straight.

I do think the buzzz is a good disc though, haven't thrown them in a while, but I'm never surprised when I see it beat the roc in tournaments like these.

Rocs are the bomb in my opinion.

I am ashamed to say it was a Pro Master. He was in 2nd place on the 2nd hole of the 2nd round. Hole 4, drive in the pond. I look over and he is unlacing his shoes. I think to myself, NO WAY?

Yep, he goes to his socks, with jeans and shirts on and wades in, next thing he is up to his chest. I guess some one should have told him there wasn't a huge payout. he did get a USDGC coffee mug for his troubles and 16 holes of playing wet.:D

MR. Dale Patterson him self.

My intent was to wade in up to my knees...
But little did I know I would slide down a slope and go from 2ft to 4ft very quickly.
Once I was in that deep I was determined to find it.

And you wonder why I cary a buzz and not a roc.
