Just a heads-up that there's a follow-up to the Earlewood Classic. Details aren't complete yet, but what we know so far:

"Throwing For Tomorrow"
Saturday, March 27
A fundraiser for the Dickerson Home for Children, which helps abused children

Sanctioned X/C tier
SCDGO points series

A 1-day event (for those who prefer this)
For those who blinked and missed out on the Earlewood Classic
(or who can't get enough Earlewood)
Lower Divisions not offered at Earlewood Classic (presumably)

Further down the rumor mill is that March Madness, the unique match play event, will be held on Sunday, March 28 under new management. This would allow you to play either 1-day event, or both for 2 events in 1 weekend.

More details as they come available.

Are both of these events (charity and match play) going to be points events for SCDGO?

Is this going to be a c or a x/c tier?

As I understand it, Throwing for Tomorrow will be a PDGA & SCDGO tournament. Sanctioning is XC-tier. It's a fundraiser for a worthy charity, so there won't be payouts as such, but player packages and other prizes, with proceeds going to the charity. Oh, and it's a low entry fee, which is a payout in itself. I'm not actively involved, but the Columbia Disc Golf Club is running this.

March Madness will not be PDGA sanctioned or SCDGO series. Running of this event has been ceded to Darrell Lambrecht, so he'd be the one to know, but I suspect this means that both Pros & Ams will receive cash payouts.

Listening to the talk at the club meeting, sounds like there'll be a bunch of prizes & giveaways from various sponsors. There was also a rumor of a bunch of Charlottans coming down.

Any one know if you will get ratings for this tournement being that it is a x/c?

Probably.

I understand it is being run as a standard tournament---no mulligans or strange rules that would prohibit ratings. The X-part is that it's a fundraiser; there won't be normal payouts, as proceeds are going to the charity. Possibly some of the PDGA fees, too.

Disclaimer: I'm not in charge of this event or part of running it, just an attendee of the club meetings. Scott Overstreet is heading it up, and he's not on this discussion board.

John, you will get PDGA ratings for the Throwing for Tomorrow tournament. The only change to the tournament is the limited payout; thus, points will be awarded. Come on down and bring the boys with ya!! See if North Carolina can handle the "Earlwood Roll".

It's looking like terrific weather. Should bring a big turnout of last-minuteeers. In addition to great fun at low cost, this would end up raising an impressive sum for a very worthy cause.

You can sign up Saturday right.

I'm sure you can. I wouldn't expect it to fill in its first year, though it would be wonderful if it does.

(With the disclaimer that I'm not directly involved with either this or March Madness on Sunday....just passing info along as one of the few club members active on this discussion board).

I couldn't come, but have heard it was a terrific event. Great weather, of course, and a huge morning-of tournament. Reports are that Scott & company ran a smooth event, lots of fun, and a couple thousand dollars raised for charity.
