We have about 35 signed up already and it has not even been a week.

That means we are 1/3 full.

Working on some sponsorship in my spare time if anybody has any sponsorship they can provide we should be able to do even more for everybody.

Right now the players pack is looking like about a $45-50 value for everybody where some of that is a voucher so you can pick out whatever plastic you would like for your players pack.

Do not get shut out of this event.

Yes you can stay at my house.

If anyone needs a place to stay let me know. I can host half of the field. That would be 45 players for those of you that are math challenged.

Was there a playoff? Was it exciting? How about a link to the write-up for the event if available. I want to hear about what went down. Unless it is just boring.

The last round consisted of around 3 lead changes over the course of 18 holes, and also had David down about 4 strokes in the first 3 holes after carding a 7 on hole 3. Hole 18 produced some bad results and ended up tying Fred Moran and David Wiggins Jr. The biggest wait ever ensued before the tiebreaker round began because the TD's wanted to be sure nobody swooped the field (as happened when 3rd card Phil harris came back to win Buckhorn!) with a hot round. About 45 minutes passed before the playoff began.

Hole one at Zebulon produced a winner for both the Intermediate and Advanced tiebreakers. Fred having the hot round had to throw first, he laced a shot down the fairway but it never turned over towards the basket, leaving him about a 45ft putt I would guess... maybe 40ft. Knowing the history of David on this hole, Fred actually threw a great shot. Over the past 3 rounds of Zeb for Wiggins, he's thrown a 6, 5 and 4 on the hole by never hitting the initial gap. With Fred making the gap, the pressure was on for Wiggins to find some way to get past the first set of trees.

David ended up choosing a very unlikely shot (most everyone in the crowd had predicted a turnover putter would be the shot David would throw) with a stable eagle thrown sidearm through the gap and across the OB creek, giving David a 12ft putt. Fred made a jump putt attempt and ended up a little low. David bangs in a 12ft putt.

The actual tiebreaker was boring, but the lead up to it was great... mostly because everyone had counted David as the winner already since Zeb favors a longer arm.

This was the 2nd year in a row that Am. crosstown produced a tie for first as last year there was a tie for first in Intermediate too!

I'll do it tomorrow. The gist of it was Chase was down 4 to start the round and then was up 2 on Dave after three holes. Then after 9 Fred had a 2 shot lead. Then after 13 Dave and Fred led Chase and I by 1. Then going to 18 Dave had Fred by 1 and Chase and I by 2. Some of us went for birdie, some played safe. Very crazy tension....

So the round started with the following scores after three rounds (in relation to everything par 3 and even though Zebulon has 3 par 4s we will call them 3s for sake of simplicity of where people stood).

Dave -11
Fred 8
Me -7
Chase -7
Jay Clark -4

Dave threw OB on one as Chase and Jay birdied. Nothing too exciting on 2, a few missed putts but once again, Chase and Jay birdied. On three, Dave and I both threw in the baseball field OB and the rest of the group had good drives. I was on the back side of the fence where it was flat and decided to throw a huge sky roller. I had someone close the gate as I feared I could roll OB. Sure enough, by disc landed and bounced into the gate. Kinda crazy. Dave threw OB again, Jay hit a tree on the left side of the fairway and the Fred and Chase both threw great upshots. Fred hit about a 40 footer here A bad upshot by Jay,. Dave and 3s by Fred and Chase made it very interesting. So after three

Chase 9
Fred 8
Dave -7
Me -4
Jay -4

Holes 4 through 8 were somewhat uneventful. Each player had some birdie looks here and there and no one got in any real trouble. I was on the only one who made a move in this stretch birdieing 4, 5 and 8. Interestingly enough despite being three back to start the round, Fred was now tied for the lead carding nothing but threes so far. So after 8.

Chase -9
Fred 8
Dave -7
Me -7
Jay -5

Hole 9 is where it got interesting. I started off throwing it the woods on the left. Chase (lefty) hyzers into the woods on the right. Fred crushes one way down in perfect position on the right side of the fairway. Both Dave and Jay flip over their drives into the woods on the right. Jay pitches and gets to the top of the hill about 100 feet short (great shot). Chase pitches out. Dave pitches out. I throw a thumber and get it about where Freds drive was. Dave throws a good approach about 30 short. Chase, being left handed, has a tough upshot and it hyzers right about 40 feet pin high left of the pipe. Fred saws off his upshot leaving himself about 50 short. Jay and I park our upshots to save 4. Fred makes a HUGE putt for the only three on the hole. Chase misses for 4, Dave hits (dave shot 33 on the front ouch!!). Jay and I get up and down for 4. So after 9 with 9 to go

Fred 8
Chase 7
Dave 6
Me 6
Jay -4

Dave makes a charge on 10 12 getting two of them and taking the lead (45 foot putt on his knees on 11 from between the trees being early right SICK). Fred finally recorded something other than a 3 as he 4d 11 and then turned around and birdied 12. Jay fell off a bit here going 1 over on this stretch. Chase and Robert missed all three as well. So with 6 to play.

Fred -8
Dave -8
Chase -6
Me -6

13, despite being a fairly easy hole, had some poor drives. I was the only one inside the circle putting it about 15 feet away. Fred and Dave miss their jump putts, Chase hits from 40. Dave takes advantage of his big arm on 14 and gets the only birdie. Chase throws a good drive on 15 and hits from 40 to get the only birdie. All 4 players get 3s on 16. So with 2 holes to play

Dave -9
Fred - 8
Chase -8
Me -7

On 17, Chase has the tee and doesnt get his disc to flip enough and lands about 60 feet right. Dave and I park it, Fred leaves it about 30 short. Chase gives a great run and just missed. Fred hits the huge putt (as he did all round cant even explain how many huge putts he hit). Dave and I tap in. So going to the very difficult 18th.

Dave -10
Fred 9
Me 8
Chase -8

4 very different strategies on this hole. From what it appeared, Chase and Dave played safe while Fred and I played aggressive. Dave was the first tee and he threw a sidearm and yanked it left. Not only did he miss, but then he hit the branches that hang over the creek and kicked left. This opened the door for the three of us as we all knew it was going to be a very tough three from where he was. I knew I had to birdie as a par wouldnt do anything. I took a very aggressive tight line and yanked it and hit the big tree on the right. My approach went in the OB creek and I ended up taking a 6 taking me out of contention and finishing 4th. Fred threw a great shot down the middle and high and got a good amount of left to right turn on it. Chase then threw a smooth drive and got the natural hyzer to the left.

Dave saw his lie and then walked up to see where Fred and Chase were. Fred was about 30 feet wide and had that very difficult putt with the trees guarding the basket. Chase had a similar putt from around 50 feet. Dave decided he need to par and threw a great shot and came up about 3 feet past Fred. Chase had a really tough putt and went for it and missed and also missed the comebacker taking a bogey. Even so, he knew the birdie was what he needed. This secured Chase in 3rd.

It came down to the putts from Dave and Fred both in a similar position and both with very hard putts. If Fred hit, Dave would have to hit to tie. If Fred missed, Daves putt was to win. However, both players missing would also result in a tie.

Fred gave it a solid run but the tough angle forced him to anhyzer putt, so it came up short. Dave attempted to try a float hyzer putt and once again, came up just a bit short.

The final scores came out as..

Dave -9
Fred -9
Chase -7
Me -5

In the playoff, Fred had the honors and threw it right down the middle and got over the creek, however it didnt turn any to the right and was about 45 feet left of the pin. Dave steps up an pins it with a sidearm. This shot selection surprised some people but Dave went 5, 4 the first two times with backhands so that was probably the reason. He absolutely pins the shot leaving no doubt he would birdie. Fred who had hit huge putts all day finally was human and missed one of these putts.

It was a great battle between the 4 of us. Congrats to Dave for holding on and to Chase and Fred for pushing Dave.
