FYI - The next event in the 2010 Alamo Disc Series presented by DiscGolfStation.com will be on April 3, 2010 at Boerne Lake Park in Boerne, Texas. I've decided, due to overwhelming response to hold this event at Boerne only and not at both Boerne & Bandera. We'll be playing a full 18 hole layout with 9 new holes (same holes used on the New Years Day mini). If possible these 9 new holes are just as good as regular holes. Sign ups will be available on TitleDisc starting next week. As usual players who sign up early on TitleDisc will receive something special. More details to follow.

If you are a touring Pro (specifically a female touring Pro) please note that this tournament fits nicely between Texas States & Texas Women's Championships. Last year this event featured Nikko, Val, & Jay. Hopefully some top pros come back again for a sampling of the new holes :D. This course is long will definately get you ready for the courses used at TWC.

Great news ... Millennium has signed on as a series sponsor. That means you can expect lots of sweet prizes from them. I know some local players love the SOLF which we'll be getting :).

Amateur players are eligible for a players pack. You must register & pay by March 31, 2010 to be eligible for the players pack. Players that sign up the day of the event may not receive a full players pack.

Also I am working on getting some food out at this event. EZ's Grill @ the Quarry has signed on as a sponsor and will be donating some food. Now I just need to find someone willing grill it up for us ;). If you do not plan on playing and are interested in grilling let me know. Staffing of this kind will earn you some points towards to the series standings ... still need to figure out how much it will count for.

Looks like I'll be heading out to Boerne next week on the 18th in the afternoon to get a practice round in. I'll also be marking the temp holes so people can throw those (the baskets won't be in until the day of the tourney). If you want to join me come on out. If enough people show up and want to we can do a little mini or something. Tee off @ 4:20.

FYI ... The parks department is expecting a full crowd at the park on the day of the tourney. Normally the park charges $7, yes $7 to enter the park on the weekends for non-Boerne residents. Of course your park entry fee is included in your registration (I got them down to $2). The park attendants have been informed to let anyone through without paying who simply shows them a disc at the gate. Please have a disc handy when you drive in and they'll let you in no problem. We'll be parking in the same place as last time, in the overflow parking area.

Hi Scott,

Looking to come play this possibly and would really love some detailed directions. When you say "we are parking in the same place as last time" that doesn't help those that have not attended this before. What do we miss out on if we don't get the FULL players pack? I am going to try to convince my girl to come play her 1st tourney, but we aren't sure yet......

Thanks,

You can't miss us, the park is small. Not sure of exactly which gate they are opening to allow for parking but the park attendant can point you in the right directions.

T-Shirt at a minimum. I am putting together the players packs on Thursday night when I know for how many have pre-registered.

Now that's what I'm talking about. You'll better hope that wind doesn't pick up Saturday as you'll be throwing at least 3 shots from the top of the dam, approximately 50' - 100' down in elevation to some nice pin locations on the dam course.

I think Ernie was also planning to have some other food out there like chicken wings. He'll also have sodas and gatorade for sale.

A special thanks to Scott for making sure that everyone on the waiting list (me included) got in the tournament and got a chance to compete. The PDGA does it automatically. They know that Open and Advanced players played one course, the long course, and Int & Rec played a different course, the short course.

SCORES HAVE BEEN POSTED (http://www.pdga.com/tournament-results?TournID=10073&year=2010&include_ratings=1#Open)

WOW! What an event. I really want to thank all the players that came out all 81 of you. It was a few more players than expected but we managed to fit everyone in. All in all everything went better than expected. The weather was PERFECT and the lake was sparking.

I want to apologize for a total TD rookie mistake. In my jubilee towards the end of the event I failed to properly recognize the division winners. With the new ScorePointe system we used at headquarters, everyone could clearly see who won each division as the scores where posted. This kind of took all of the fun and surprise out of announcing it at the very end. Nonetheless, I still should have formally announced the division winners to allow them their due respects. SORRY! I totally blew this and I feel even worse since this was my good friend JAYSON HOUSTONS first Open victory. Nice job Jayson!

On the more positive side of things, did I mention we had 81 players at this event? A sell out plus 9! I really cant thank all of you enough for coming out at supporting the event. Speaking of supporting the event, make sure you all support our sponsors who really stepped up huge for this one. Those that pre-paid prior to March 31 received a nice $30 players pack that included the following:

$15 T-Shirt
$5 Free Lunch
$5 DiscGolfStation.com Voucher
$4 EZs Free Milshake Token
$1 (2) Stickers, Mini, & Pencil

Those that didnt pre-pay still received a nice $10 players pack that included the following:

$5 DiscGolfStation.com Voucher
$4 EZs Free Milkshake Token
$1 (2) Stickers, Mini, & Pencil

We also had 4 really cool CTPs out there. I dont recall who won each one, but I believe Micah Samuelsen won the FlyInk prize and Jason Gilla won the DiscGolfStation.com prize. I dont recall who won the Millennium prize or the EDGE prize.

$360 is Ace Pot money was collected. There where no aces so the money was CTPd for 4 places. 1st (Jeff Gobin) got $180, 2nd got $90, 3rd, got $60, & 4th got $30.

Thank Yous
This tournament wouldnt have been possible without the following companies and people.

Micah Samuelsen, Jayson Houston, Marcos Castillo, & Jerry Chesterson scouted, designed, & installed one beauty of a temp course. We heard rave reviews from nearly all players about how fun this course, The Dam Course, was to play!

One Shot was once again our BBQ & concessions master. He really out did himself this time by organizing 100% of the concessions. He also managed to sell a bag tag to some onlookers . 100% of funds raised at concessions go towards the SADC New Course Initiative.

Orlando & Stacey Pereida, Marcos Castillo, Jayson Houston, Jay Reading, Todd Peschong, Micah Samuelsen, Julian Jackson, Elise Hougland, & surely others I am forgetting all helped out a tourney headquarters by selling raffle tickets, taking & counting scorecards, & running the games! The event would not have been 10% as fun without your help. THANKS!

We had plenty of baskets on hand for The Dam Course as well as warm ups thanks to Rick Perez, Wallace & Grant Stanley, B Ware, Dave Wimer, Jerry Lively, Julian Jackson, Jerry Chesterson, Jayson Houston, & JimBob & Laura Karshis.

Dont forget our sponsors who made the raffle and CTP prizes all possible. You can find info about our sponsors at: http://www.sanantoniodiscclub.com/sponsors.htm

Tourney Ramblings
The CTP fundraiser for the benefit of SADC, EDGE, & TWC was fun. It turned from a 5 person throw off to a 10 person throw off when the volleyball players moved the basket & marker flags between rounds. Nick Rowton walked away with the custom painted double chain basket. The game didnt do quite as well as expected but we did manage to raise $126. Since the amount was so low, SADC decided to forgo their portion of that cash and kick it all to EDGE & TWC.

As mentioned earlier, in the Open Division Jayson Houston came from behind and held off a late run by Jay Reading to capture his first Open victory. Glad to see all that cash stay close to home.

The Advanced Mens Division came down to a sudden death playoff between Sherman Griffin and Marcos Castillo. Sherman managed a win on the first playoff hole, the dreaded hole 1, with a par.

The Intermediate Mens Division Charlie Chittim by a whopping 8 throws!

The Recreational Womens Division was won by Andi Griffin. Looks like the Griffins own Boerne!

The Recreational Mens Division was won, for a second time in the 2010 Alamo Disc Series, by Mike Morales. Keep this up Mike and youll have your own disc store soon.

Some Financial Mumbo Jumbo
Players pack, prizes, & cash paid out to the Open Division totaled $714 or $47.60 per player.
Note: The net Open entry fee paid by participants was $34 ($40 - $2 PDGA Fee - $2 park entry fee - $2 Alamo Disc Series Fee).

Players pack, prizes, & merchandise paid out to the Amateur Divisions totaled $2,969 or $39.07 per player.
Note: The net Advanced entry fee paid by participants was $24 ($30 - $2 PDGA Fee - $2 park entry fee - $2 Alamo Disc Series Fee).
The net Intermediate entry fee paid by participants was $19 ($25 - $2 PDGA Fee - $2 park entry fee - $2 Alamo Disc Series Fee).
The net Recreational entry fee paid by participants was $14 ($20 - $2 PDGA Fee - $2 park entry fee - $2 Alamo Disc Series Fee).

Had a great time in the first round.
Second round not so much - my free fall in play was compounded by my free fall off the side of the dam.
The doc told me earlier today it's just a minor knee sprain and no surgery is needed.
Anyway, the tournament itself was awesome even if my personal finish was not.
Can't wait for the SA Open!

Thanks for answering the ratings question for me Scott. I was just curious because it only has the first round split that way, but not the second. I know there were only a handful of holes with shorter boxes, but the few that they were on were all the hardest holes. :)
