Christine and Co. will have their place stocked with all the goodies it takes to get thru the DLHO as well as their famous bisquits and gravy breakfast and Brisket dinners! best Bisquits & Gravy in Oklahoma!!!
Sign ups are rolling in, I will get D to post them up soon. Some sweet Inncolors are on their way to help fund the brushhog crew and reward some volunteers!!! Stay tuned for more cool stuff as we ramp up for the DLHO!!!

The first VIP mini / Workday is scheduled for March 5th. I have confirmation of a few folks coming from Norman, OKC and Tulsa. We will need weed eaters, Lopers and trash clean up. Jake is bringing his twisted mower and I think we found us a brush hog!
My plan is to knock out some work in the morning and then eat some BBQ and play some VIP Doubles. I will have some crazy TWISTED prizes to top the day off. Those of you who have helped the past few years know what to expect. It isn't so bad this year out there as mother nature has dropped branches for us and the equestrian folks have done great jobs of beating in the trails. Marina is open for food which means more room for Newberrys night games in the pavillion!!!
If you can make it out to help and play. This DLHO is going to be Rockin!

While it may not be 63mph, I have never played a second day there without the winds really kicking in. Fun to watch a lot of shots.
It was a day like this that caused Carl Butts to quit golf. he shanked one that went about 4 fairways over, said "screw it" and has never played again.:D
haven't been in a couple of years but I plan on being there for this year's abuse. That course has never failed to kick me square in the nutz and I'm looking forward to another one.:D

Me too, I may even bring my rock climbing gear this year to help me get to some of the places the wind can blow the discs to. :D
The course is tough and the wind always starts out dead calm for the Friday Doubles and escalates from there. Something like calm Friday, 5 MPH Saturday morning and 45 MPH by the second round on Sunday! Oklahoma wind you got to love it!:D

Question for the twisted one....What are we going to do about baskets for the temp course? I heard Tom sold all of his. Let me know if I need to bring a few.
Here's a little Sunday Duncan story for ya:
It's the final round Sunday afternoon. I'm starting on hole 9. Figured I'd play hole 8 as a warm up. The tee is right by the water for those who aren't familiar and plays about 300 with an uphill elevation change of about 20 ft. The wind is blowing right off the lake bout 45. I face the water (this is backwards on the tee) throw my putter straight up into the air. It lands about 20 ft. from the basket. This would have been the perfect story had I made the putt.
Yes the wind is something else down in Duncan and can whoop ya good. That's just one of the great parts of this tourny though. I strongly encourage anyone who hasn't experienced experience. As for myself...favorite tourny of the year and wouldn't miss it for anything. See everyone there if not before on the work day.
BTW, I'll have an extra weedeater, string trimmer mower, chain saw, and loppers for anyone who shows without equip

So it goes like this... My friend's at D-MART have stepped up to help the DLHO out. They threw in half of the food for the workday this Saturday and are helping out with the following promotion. Any player to bring a DMART receipt from 72 hours prior to the event can drop it in a box with their name to win $50.00 worth of gas!!! Prize will be awarded at the event. VOLUNTEERS at the workdays will each get a FREE entry to win the gas!!! THANKS D-MART!!! OKC's hotspot for plastic and more!
Then my friends at REVOLUTION Disc Golf bags said "hey Joe, Let's throw a REVO bag on someone at Duncan" and I said "SURE and THANKS" so if you attend the workday or days your in a raffle for a FREE REVO bag. IF YOU PRE REGISTER ONLINE you are also in the drawing for the bag!!!

Sorry Mike, I didn't hang, just got hung.
Played great for the conditiopns on Saturday, cloudy, cold and winds sustained at 35 with gusts 40 to 50. Then on Sunday when it was nice out I managed a to play about as bad as possible. Better conditions but much worse play. Hats off to Kyle Powers, he played great all day Sunday. I had a 3 stroke lead 4 holes into the 3rd round and found a way to get beat by 14.:o
Sure glad I didn't camp, the wind Friday and Saturday was kickin it!
I saw shots I didn't think were possible. My favorite was Ray Walker. He had about a 30ft up shot with a putter, around a tree on a hyzer. I thought to myself, watch out. He just lobbed it around the corner, it rose up about 60ft in the air and went backwards over his head about 350ft down a hill and over the trees. His 3 putt turned into a 9 and that was a GOOD 9.
The other upside, is I can say I brought all of my plastic home with me.:D
Thanks to Joe, Danielle, Barb, Johnny Z and all of the volunteers that got this course into shape. It looked fantastic! I had a blast even though I got Duncaned.

Hats off to a very, VERY well-run event. JoeRo never disappoints. Played like crap on 71 / 72 holes, but still had a blast.
And i have to tell this story.....
anyone who knows the "roys" will appreciate this. "doug roy" was on my card 2nd round. i had just three-putted 18 for a bogey, so i was a bit down. i go stand on the tee to throw and he starts yellin at me to stop. i walk over to him, he punches me in the arm and says "slim, youre going to ace this." i walk back up to the tee, throw my roc, and CRASH! I stood there stunned for a minute while everyone on my card went berserk except for him, who just sat there looking at me like he knew all along. his signature on my disc: "i told you so."

Thanks again to everyone who volunteered, sponsored or played the DLHO! This year was bigger than ever with an amazing amount of fun had by all!!! I heard so much laughter, singing and chains ringing all weekend. I heard so many "duncan stories" and had a blast watching these DG warriors tame the wind. I am certain it is the spirit of the DLHO that ensures we have such wonderful times. Thanks to Danielle, Barb, Kim, Marty, Johnny and all of my TWISTED friends who jumped in and helped do this dang thang!
We gave away 11 Oklahoma event entries, over $400 added to the pros, over $500.00 added to the AM's and misc. give aways. Thanks to the Oklahoma TD's for your donations.
In all of the craziness and fun I forgot (imagine that... I forgot this) to announce we were able to buy 4 baskets for Johnny to have towards his full 18 on the temp course. So all in all it was a great weekend all the way around. I'm sure we all walked out of Duncan with a hard drive full of memorys!!!

what a wild , windy , wonderful Weekend super Camping trip slick job by Joe Rotan and Staff of running the whole show the chow was good down at the re-opened Caf and really-good were the grilled Steaks and Mushrooms that Mike Click whupped-up for us on the camp-stove always a bonus to rub elbows with long-time friends and competitors super pack-of-smiling-faces and it looks like about 15 Tulsa players jumped-in for the Fun way to represent , fellas

more commitments for baskets ! now thats super-cool Jose Mendoza had drummed up several solid-confirmed during his last HillClimber in 2007 many individuals and Clubs spoke-up to pitch-in at his Awards right after his tournament , TDSA voted to buy one also for the Duncan course Jose would have had his exact numbers from that Spring ; or Johnny Z. (Mr.Duncan) ; or Joe (Mr.Twisted) but if this 2010 tourney netted 4 MORE permanent Baskets , the total-number may be up close to NINE (or better) for new-and-planted baskets out there there are definitely some great Holes throughout that temp Layout every year always a blast !
.
way-to-go on the basket-hookups , JoeRo solid progress

just wanted to shout out to all the brave souls that were at duncan this year.yes it was windy/well beyond windy.i think i saw the world distance record broken about 15 times myself on hole 9 lake course there was just no way to measure a disc that travels hundreds of feet in to the air then across hundreds of feet of lake.you know its windy when you see a tent (full of someone belongings)tumbling across the campgrounds to a location unknown.i also know that if you have a tree pollen alergy you feel like i do this morning 40+ mph wind will embed pollen so deep in your sinuses it may be months before i breathe right!
As always the most twisted of the bunch Joe Rotan ran a well oiled machine getting everything lined up before, during and after the tourny.and even more importantly thanks to the one that keeps Joe on track and does so on the sidelines the one the only ,Danielle.to those that know how much you really do THANK YOU!!!!
Also to Barb Paske ty for everything you did to help run this tourny..if anyone has ever tried to get 200 cards ready in 40 mph wind you know what she was dealing with...THANK YOU BARB!!
yes theres more Dave Wise,Mickey Brookshire, and all the people that were there for the workdays to prepare the courses, help with sales, pick up trash,or just to do whatever they could to help when the need arised..THANK YOU!!
and last but never least THANK YOU to Johnny Z..its kinda cool to have a legacy isnt it..without you this thing wouldnt be what it is!!!!

Ditto to what don said, it was fun! I had a blast playing follow the idiot and watching wobble putts all weekend. good times with every card I was on. Special props to Wayne for trying to take a mini van where its not supposed to go! Didnt lose a disc thanks to one finding its way back home! Special moments...hearing my doubs partner drop a F while he is on hole 1 and I am on hole 8, but then again I heard that a few times from places unknown this weekend! too funny! I know parts of the course were explored for the first time in many years!

The strange from Duncan...................
I arrive Friday around noon, just chilling and waiting on Rotan and crew to roll in when a guy walks up, who is obviously not with the tournament. I get out of my truck and he introduces himself and that he is with the US Census Bureau.<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shape id=_x0000_i1025 style="WIDTH: 12pt; HEIGHT: 12pt" alt="0" type="#_x0000_t75"><v:imagedata o:href="http://www.pdga.com/discussion/images/smilies/eek.gif" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/David/LOCALS~1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_image001.gif"></v:imagedata></v:shape> I think WHF is going on?
He is looking for some camp called Wallaroo. He comes back later and sits down, eats his lunch and is enjoying the afternoon. It was killing me, so I couldn't resist. I ask him, what the he11 are you doing up here.
Now this is where it gets good. He explains that with the poor economy, and people losing their houses, he is searching campsites for people living in trailers and tents.<v:shape id=_x0000_i1027 style="WIDTH: 12pt; HEIGHT: 12pt" alt="0" type="#_x0000_t75"> <v:imagedata o:href="http://www.pdga.com/discussion/images/smilies/eek.gif" src="file:///C:/DOCUME~1/David/LOCALS~1/Temp/msoclip1/01/clip_image001.gif"></v:imagedata></v:shape>I guess when he rolled in on the lake he thought he just hit the lottery, with about 80 campers already there.

Had the pleasure of playing golf with some good friends last weekend. Jade, Brian Erwin, Big Dave, Jake Christian and had the chance to meet some new people. Frankie managed to walk 3 out of four rounds with us. He slept all the way home.
My man Big Dave came back with a new nickname based solely on his stellar golf game. The new nickname is Blam Blam Lazer Dave. Don't forget it or he will remind u with his absurdly sik putting game. Believe it.

All you found were sweatshirts? Nowhere do you mention finding my game? I thought it had been left up there or possibly it was so lightweight it blew into the lake.
One thing I did learn was the value of using the "unplayable lie" feature from the rule book. It helped me once and would have saved me from an 8 another time if I'd been smart enough to use it. But mostly I got Duncan'd.
Joe, thanks for running a tourney with a huge, huge turnout. Those AM draws were overflowing. And the recession-proof $45 bucks I gave to the open pot was the cheapest tourney I've entered in maybe 6-7 years.
I'll be more organized on the side games next year with start times and printouts. For who have not left their camp site to come up and try the putting, it's always an INT or ADV that wins it. The pros rarely win.
