WAFDA is very proud to hold another Ice Bowl at historic Tilles Park, featuring an expanded from 9 hole to 18 hole layout

This will be very similar to the layout played in 2008

Saturday is our "Traditional Disc Golf" format

On Sunday for those that want we'll have a completely separate Super Class event (probably just the original 9 hole layout)

Both of the Tilles events are PDGA sanctioned, due to the charitable aspect of these events there will be no $10 "Non-Member Fee" and all PDGA player fees will be donated to charity, these rounds will not receive "Ratings" due to mulligans being sold for charity, Current PDGA members will receive points.

In 2009 WAFDA raised $3,050 and several hundred pounds of food for charity with our Ice Bowl endeavors. We hope to raise that bar even higher this year. Our charity for the Tilles events is the Community Services Clearinghouse which is a large Food Bank serving Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma. The money raised is earmarked for the Backpacks for Kids Program which sends children home with food for the weekend that may not be provided good nutrition otherwise

Ten Dollars from every entry, all mulligan and raffle proceeds, donations and ALL profit made from amateur merch payouts and additional merchandise sales will go directly to the charity. The remaining portions of the entry will go to a traditional PDGA payout back to the players

While it is true that most food banks can use cash vs. can goods due to their wholesale buying abilities I feel that this is still a good venue to accept food donations, many of us have food in the kitchen that we may not really need so feel free to donate, those that bring 10 or more non-perishable food items will recieve an Ice Bowl disc as thanks

The money used to buy these "food for plastic" discs comes from outside sponsorship

This is another area that players can help with:

For $25 you may sponsor a hole, if we go over 18 sponsors I'll allow double, triple, whatever sponsorships - after around $350ish all further proceeds help the charity - I have a little bit of local sponsorship from area businesses but you - the players would really help, it could be for your business or where you work (tax deductible advertising) or you could have fun and smack talk your favorite adversary

Another area we can use help in is merchandise to boost the Raffle, CTP's, perhaps a Ring of Fire or even payouts

We'll have a good selection of Ice Bowl Discs from several manufacturers and plastic types plus some clothing for am payouts and for sale also

We'd like to encourage everyone to support as many Ice Bowl events that you can, play 1 or play em' all, all for fun and a great cause, feeding the hungry.....we'll see ya on the courses!!

Pile em' in the vehicles and make it over for this one, this course set-up has some cool holes and we have some great giveaways and prizes

First sanctioned events in the area, getcha some points for Worlds and support a great cause - remember there is NO $10 Non-Member fee under the charity endowment program for those that haven't renewed yet

Saturday - Normal Disc Golf 1 day event

Sunday is a completely different and optional Super Class Ice Bowl, for those brave lid flippers, all about the beauty of those big fat discs flying thru the air :)

Looking forward to seeing this Disc Golf Community come together to help those in need :D

:( Just got back from the chiropractor today. My fear has been realized. Apperantly I have been playing with a partially seperated throwing shoulder for the past 2 plus months. This week I am in extreme agony. Haven't thrown a disc since Tulsa Ice Bowl.
I am still coming down to Ft. Smith regardless just not sure if I should risk further aggrivation and play or sit out and watch and or spot. Mucho disapointed right now.

Going back to the chiropractor wed, thur and again on friday. Hopefully some more treatment will have me back out on the course this weekend. Cross your fingers for me !

Maybe you shouldn't have tried to throw so hard in the match against me.:D

You may want to try a doctor. I was in treatment with a Chiro off and on for about a year and had been going for adjustments. Only then to find out I had a ruptured disc and a cracked bone. These showed up on a MRI. The chiro was doing me more harm than good. But not to say the docs are much better, thier solution was back surgery, which I refused to do and glad I did. That was 3-4 years ago. I just decided to rehab myself through walking, stretching and knowing when enough is enough. Your body will tell when that time is, you just have to listen to it.
You're young, take some time off and rest it. If not, you may be looking at several months on the sidelines.

yeah, I cancelled my visits today. Going to see a massage therapist instead. Who knows maybe they offer happy endings :) Have an appointment with my doctor friday. Might try to get a novicaine injection so I can play saturday. After that though probably alot more time to heal in the future. Going to have to get one of those stretching devices I see alot of the top players using.

Can't wait to see everyone In Arkansas and check out the temp 9 out at Tilles.

Evan & Eads

Great event once again. Wasn't 50 and sunny like you told me it would be Wed. LOL. But still had a great time. Think I was the only person there wearing cleats. People you gotta wear cleats on natural tpads in the mud ! Didn't do as well as I had hoped but loved playing with James and Buck on the top card for the last round. Those guys are awesome and every time I come there I love to compete against them. Eads you were awesome as usual. Congratulations to Wayne & Martin for once again finishing 1,2 in their division. Snake was awesome to have around this weekend as well. That guy has really done a 180. Thanks for the Fun and the Memories once again.

Sincerely,
WAFDA Tag 36
