Mark your calendars now for this one....
Birdshot & Golden Triangle Disc Golf Club present the 8th Annual PIC on Saturday, February 6 in Port Arthur, Texas! PIC 2010 is second tournament in the 2010 Birdshot Championship Series and is a PDGA sanctioned C tier.
This will be your last chance to play the historic Berry's Treasure in a tournament setting....the course is being pulled & moved a little further down the island to another park.
This is one of the original Worlds courses from 1995 and 1996 holds a lot of windy, mosquito-bitten memories for many of us...it's not very often that you can watch a huge freighter glide past you in the intercostal water while you're trying to make a putt into 25-55 MPH gusts! It just doesn't get any better than that, right?
Port Arthur bonus! If the temps get down to 20 Thursday night PIC could be mosquito free!
Go to www.houstonbirdshot.com for registration details....see you there!

It was actually 1994 and 1995, which makes it even older.

Thanks...I didn't want to be the one to point that out.

How did you know - weren't you in preschool when that was going on?

Yeah but I have a few Tachyons and Proto "Sticky" Omegas with the Worlds' stamp.

yeah, but try to find the history of World Championships and the associated courses ANYWHERE on the net. I gave up after an hour or so. You go to the "history" page on the PDGA site and it is a joke.

not a joke, my apologies to Jim, that was unkind, just woefully inadequate for instantaneous seriously professional research purposes. The net should be the fountain of all knowledge, accurate, precise and comprehensive....free and at the touch of a button.

Main Menu: PDGA HQ/Documents - pg 2, "Pro World Champions" - shows the city where the WDGC was held, but not to the course level.
Granted, the 20+ pgs of docs are not sortable, but I was pretty confident that I could find that info there.

Excellent, thanks.
I move that the Executive Board appropriates the funding to put history under the "history" tab

It looks like the history tab is being used for history of the sport, and not for PDGA tournaments.
I also found the referenced file under "PDGA Tour/World Championships", which seems a pretty logical place to look. As far as what courses were played, we are not displaying that information now, so I seriously doubt that information will be available for old WDGCs.

Ring, Ring, "Hello?"
23 days to the PIC!
Be there for the last sanctioned event on the historical Berry's Treasure course before it is gone forever!
Try one more time to hit a ship with a booming drive as it sails majestically past in the intercoastal canal!
Throw caution and your 10-foot putt into the howling wind and watch it lift and fly backwards behind you 50 feet!
You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!

With the way you are describing the conditions on the course, it is no surprise to me that there is not much chatter about the event. BTW, will the park where the basket will be relocated offer any better conditions?

It's not all that bad but we did have some amazing afternoon winds at PIC #6 and that's what everyone likes to talk about. It's like a built in excuse for why you didn't hit any putts.
Every course on the Gulf Coast of Texas has the same general conditions from Corpus Christi to Beaumont. It's usually the afternoon rounds that experience some wind. The sun heats up the water and the wind from the Gulf builds up and blows in.
If we get a pressure front from the north the air could be dead calm. How boring would that be! I can see us all sitting around the ice house saying, "Remember back in 2010 when conditions were perfect?".......zzzzzzzzzzz

The replacement park is just a mile or two away to it will be the same great conditions.
Maybe a few more trees, though.

Also, I am not certain that the internet has arrived in Beaumont, yet........

Wind will always be a factor. Heck, I've dealt with more wind in Round Rock!

The new location is the old Kissapoo site, so it won't be much better except the city will mow more often.
