Every year, people from around the world gather together to help fight hunger within their communities and to have a day of fun playing disc golf no matter what the weather. We will be fundraising for the Capital Area Food Bank at our Ice Bowl.
The rules of the Ice Bowl are simple:
1) Under no circumstances can an Ice Bowl be postponed or cancelled
2) No wimps or whiners allowed
3) There are no excuses for not attending!
The entry fee is $15.
For that $15, you will receive either:
Ice Bowl T-Shirt OR Ice Bowl Disc (DX plastic) and set of Little Flyer Nesting Minis
Supplies of both are limited - first come first choice; we will also have long-sleeve shirts and some other, higher quality discs, but there are extra costs for them. After that, we are playing for fun!!!
We will also have some CTP and putting contests and maybe some other fun stuff. The whole idea is to have a great time while helping others out who really need it. If you have anything you would like to donate as prizes, please let us know or just bring them with you. Anything we receive, we will give away!

Online pre-registration is now available!
As a reminder, it will be very different this year with 2 Flights. Instead of trying to get 175-180 people playing all at once like we did last year, we are going to split into 2 Flights with a maximum of 90 people in each; Flight 1 will tee-off at 10 AM and Flight 2 will tee-off at 2 PM.
This means it is very important to pre-register so that you are sure to be able to play in the flight that you want.

It looks like the weather just might give us a nice Ice Bowl day on Saturday, with the rain taking a break for a couple of days.
However, Zilker is going to be very muddy.
The Parks Dept has gotten us some mulch (which apparently is in very high demand right now), and the use of some equipment, so we are going to have a short workday to get it spread prior to the Ice Bowl. The Dept should be dumping it in many of the areas it needs to go, but it will be up to us to take it from there.
Tomorrow, Friday Feb 5th, in the early-to-mid afternoon, we need some volunteers to help spread this mulch. Well have some rakes and shovels available, but if you have your own and can bring it, please do. Better to have to many than not enough.
Dan Mueller is heading out there about 1:30 pm or a little after, and Mike Olse and Josh Rippie will be out there earlier (helping get the mulch out to its locations), so please come out and help if you can. Dan can be reached at 293-7592 if you have any questions.

Speaking of Ice Bowl, we could use a few extra volunteers on Saturday to help run it. With 2 flights, it will be possible for all the volunteers to also play. But it also means that we will need some folks around at all times to help with check-in / registration as well as membership/renewal drives, sales, plus our putting game and our 5-5-5 CTP game. If you can help out, please let me know. Well be getting to the park about 7:30 am to unload and get everything set up so we can begin checking people in at 8:30 am.
We could also really use some more sponsors. We need merchandise, gift certificates, etc to give away in our raffle, CTP and putting games, plus a few other prizes. Even if you can only bring a disc or shirt or mini, please do so. Everything we receive we will give away! So far we have our major sponsors Millennium, Worlds Biggest Disc Golf Weekend, and Disc Nation. We also have commitments/merch from Wanna Play Disc Golf, Sister Sue Dye 4 U, little e - Fairway Factory, DGU Disc Golf United, and shirts420.com. Thank you so much to all our supporters!!!
PRE-REGISTRATION: Pre-registration has gone really well. We have over 45 people already signed up, with most of them choosing to play in Flight 1. Each flight can only hold 90 people, so if there is a particular flight in which you wish to play, it would be best to go ahead and pre-register. It is pretty much too late to do it by mail (wed have to have it in our PO Box by tomorrow), so your best option is to go to the Disc Nation web site and sign up online. The site will only be accepting pre-registrations until noon tomorrow (Friday), so dont delay. The link is: http://www.discnation.com/product.php?productid=20414
As a reminder, Flight 1 tees off at 10 am; and Flight 2 tees off at 2 pm.
Starting at 8:30 am on Saturday morning, we will begin checking people in and taking registrations for any available spots. Everyone who registers, whether through pre-registration or by showing up on Saturday and getting a spot, will get an Ice Bowl disc or Ice Bowl t-shirt. However, what disc you get, or what size/color t-shirt you get, or if you want to upgrade to a long-sleeve shirt or better quality disc, is all on a first-come-first-choice basis. We will have enough Ice Bowl merchandise to cover all 180 players if we fill up both flights, so if you are pre-registered in the 2 pm flight, you dont have to be there first thing in the morning. But if you want a particular item (like a Large long-sleeve shirt or a champion boss instead of a dx roc or dx aviar) then the earlier you get there the better chance well still have what you want.
Well have a putting game going all day and the 5-5-5 CTP game going all day, plus a big raffle and maybe some other stuff too, so bring extra dollars, bring a jacket, and come have a great Ice Bowl day at Zilker with Waterloo Disc Golf Club!

This was the most fun I ever had at an Ice Bowl. My wife (Kathleen), played for her very first time. Even though she finished DFL, she won the Basket in the raffle and several other items!!! What a great day for disc golf and a great benefit for the food bank. Thanks to Waterloo, all the sponsers, and special thanks to the staff.:D
