The inaugural Albemarle Ice Bowl at Fox Chase Disc Golf Course will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010. This is a PDGA "C" tier and will be two rounds from the white tees for all divisions. However, the fee for non-PDGA members has been waived. The cost for all divisions is $20 per player. The first 25 registered players (regardless of division) will receive an Ice Bowl players pack.

Because we are trying to raise money for charity, we will be awarding trophy discs for the winners of the Open, Advanced and Intermediate divisions only. Other divisions may be offered if we have enough participation.

Registration is from 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM the day of the event or players may register online at PDGA.com beginning 1/9/2010. There will be a player's meeting at 9:15 AM with the first round beginning at 9:30AM.

We will have ctp prizes for most, if not all holes and we will be providing a free lunch of chili (bring your own drink). We will also have a ctp contest during lunch for a chance at a 2010 Inncolor Ice Bowl disc. The cost will be 3 cans of food or $3 per entry. Multiple entries are encouraged.

Come out and support a great charity and have fun playing this great course! We look forward to seeing everyone in Albemarle on 2/6/2010.

It should be a good way to get ratings. At slappy's revenge in 07 a 54=975 rating, little andrew coggin shot a 52 in last club tournament in the cold and their should be more than that out their.I want to see if some one can get in the 40's.

The WEATHER REPORT is not looking SUITE/sweet.

Is there any update on the pre-reg list? It has been how it is for weeks.

The weather should be fine according to wsoc weather.com. They said Saturday: Mostly cloudy with a few flurries in the morning. Temps in the low 40s. So let's play some disc golf!;)

Registrations are updated as received daily. I do not like submitting my information for a tournament and having to wait several days or weeks to see if my registration was received. Because this is an ice bowl, I think people wait until the last minute to register or they do so the day of the event.

I am aware of many players who say they are cing but have just not registered officially with me. I don't post registrations unless payment is received, unlike some others

I have purchased another 25 Ice Bowl discs for player packs. That means that there will definitely be something for the first 50 registered players. If you want to wait until Saturday, we'll be taking registrations from 8:00 until 9:00. If you are not there by 9:00, registrations will close.

Come on out. The weather forecast is improving, but hey, this is an Ice Bowl, so don't be a whimp and don't whine when you get to the course. It's all better than living on the couch for the weekend!!

What are you waiting on? Get out and play Fox Chase!!

I'm pondering it. It'll be a 2hr and 30 min drive to get there from Clayton, NC. I checked out the course on discgolfcoursereview.com. Looks rather awesome. It's 50/50 for me.

Mike,

I drive in from Columbia, SC on those weekends when I am not playing tournaments to help keep this club alive. I've got about the same drive. You won't be disappointed, I assure you. The course is a blast!! It's for a great cause too. I hope you can make it.

The Inaugural Albemarle Ice Bowl @ Fox Chase started yesterday with snow flurries prior to the the rounds beginning. Forty-seven players braved the elements and came out to Fox Chase to play some disc golf and raise money for our charity, Community Inn Emergency Housing.

Albemarle was deluged with rain the day before and we were experienced some extensive flooding in the area. Holes 5 and 6 were just too muddy to play, but I think the two replacement holes proved to be as challenging and fun as the original layout. I must admit that karma got me on hole #6. Yes, the placement was my idea and that tree right off the tee got me in round #1.

Congratulations to our winners: MPO: Terry Gallops; MA1: Dan Lambeth Jr; MG1: David Wehrenberg; MA2: Phillip Lawrence. I would also like to thank Meagan Kennedy, our sole female player for coming out and supporting us.

Thanks to everyone who participated and donated to our charity. Thanks to all of the ADGA club members who assisted and without whose help this would not have been possible. Thanks also to the Albemarle Parks & Recreation Department for the use of the facilities. I also have a special thanks to the ladies who volunteered to watch over and serve the chili and to Scott for taking all of the pictures.

To those of you that drove long distances or short to attend this event, I thank you and hope that Fox Chase made an impression on you such that you will come back and play again and again. I hope to see all of you back again for Slappy's Revenge (tentatively scheduled for October 2010). For those of you that didn't attend, I think you missed an opportunity to play a great and challenging course.

I'll end this now so I can put some more Biofreeze on my aching muscles! Biofreeze - keeps us 'old pharts" playing!!

Steve

does anyone know where the pictures and video will be posted?

There were over 100 pictures and videos taken and these can all be found at the Albemarle disc golf association Facebook page. Enjoy! Danny was placing the videos out there one at a time earlier today so most if not all of them should be viewable.
