Lots of MPO and MPM players getting signed up in advance for this event! We will be limiting the MPO/MPM/FPO field to 90 players so don't miss out on your chance to qualify for the USDGC at this event! The reason the field will be limited to 90 so that everyone can qualify for the USDGC and play the same courses.

A steady stream of registrations indeed! Several a day which begins to add up in a hurry. I have a feeling that this event will fill way in advance for the A Pool (MPO, MPM, FPO) and several touring pros or will be left out of the largest pro purse ever for the GBO. FYI the pro purse is estimated to be well over $10,000. Up to this point the pre-registration list has been updated constantly. If I'm not able to keep the list up to date over the better part of a week this event might fill up unexpectedly for the A-pool. Do yourself a favor....if you want to play in this event get signed up today before you risk missing out on one of the best events in the Midwest! Thanks for all of those who have made the commitment and signed up!
Keith! Get signed up! Exceptions are not being made for this events registration.

Want to be part of the Glass Blown Open, but didn't get in. Here is your chance. Dynamic Discs will be hosting a 1 day C-tier at the Emporia Middle School. The normally short and easy course will be adjusted to give even the best pros a challenge. The tourney layout will include an elevated basket, an island green, a clowns mouth, and several OB lined fairways.
The event should play much faster then the Glass Blown Open, given everyone the opportunity to watch some of the top players in the world finish their round. Dynamic Discs also invites you to take part in all the extra things that are going to make the GBO the best tourney in the midwest. After you are finished at the middle school, head over to Jones park and try to qualify for the putting finals or the long drive championships.
Last minute sign-ups: 7:30-8:15
Player Meeting: 8:30
First Round: 9:00
Cost:
All Pro divisions $50
All Advanced divisions $40
All other divisions available at $30.
If you are not a PDGA member you will need to pay the $10 non-member fee.
$3 Ace fund is included with the entry fee.
All participants will receive a 2010 Glass Blown Open dri-fit shirt. Also included in the fees, entry to and food at the "Insane Players Party" on Saturday night.
Dynamic Discs will also have Merchandise Voucher opportunities for people who want to help spot and do other tourney jobs on Sunday.

You gotta be kiddin' me. I spent 25 minutes writing up a post about the courses, and I get disconnected from the internet and lose my post.
Lets just say this, you don't need a lot of distance, but some helps. They are only a handful of tight and technical courses in Kansas, but alas not in Emporia. Mostly open, but a good use of obstacles to make the courses play fair and interesting. Emporia has some of the top courses in Kansas.

I don't know the records, but I know Jones west has be scored in the low 40's a couple times. Around a 42. I think most are happy in the high 40's though. Jones East if you get below 50 thats amazing, (I believe 54 is pretty good here) Peter Pan I don't really see too many scores below 50 either. I just looked at some past tournament scores. Seems like the norm for winners at Peter pan is only a few down for the tournament.

so they are calling for Thunder Storms for the weekend. It seems its moved to just friday. How does the course handle rain and water? Will teepads be messY.?
Will cleats be needed? if the rain hammers the course?
thanks
Smitty2004
Apr 13 2010, 04:18 PM
The courses have the potential to be muddy if it rains. Unlike Texas courses they will not be an absolute mess.
As far as cleats, you will be teeing off Cement on every hole the entire tourney. If you think cleats are going to give you an advantage, then bring them.
Most of the course except for the lowest of spots will drain and be soggy at most.

"Unlike Texas courses they will not be an absolute mess" Hey watch it
Worst footing I ever played in, San Saba am world doubles.
Muddiest course I ever played, Cedar Hill.
Most dangerous course I have ever played, Cliff Drive. I would hate to see that thing damp at all.

muddiest Cedar Hill, yeh that can be bad, but thats nothing compared to a South Tx, Houston, Beaumont course in the Mudd, cleats are worse becuase you end up dragging about 10lbs of clay mudd with you....

Had a few name changes on the registration list.
Noticed we now have a former World Champ on the list .
You must be psychic! You knew I was going to get in even before I did.
You did mean me, didn't you?
I'm not sure who dropped out, but I'm awful glad to be dropping in.
The big question is- "Can this former World Champ avoid DFL?"
Sure would be nice if we could get permission to do a little pyrotechnic show at the players party...
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!

I think the weather is looking pretty good for the weekend. As of now, they're calling for partly cloudy in the high 60's. (Rain Friday though) Should be beautiful golfing weather.
I think I know of at least INT player that's going to drop.

There are usually a handful of doubles teams. It's a fun way to see the course and get some practice in.
Smitty and I will be headed up tomorrow morning. Hope to see you there!

WOW! What an EVENT!
Rusco and the whole DD crew did a fantastic job, and made it look easy. The courses were in good shape, the weather was perfect and I had a great time playing with some good golfers from OK and TX.
Congrats to EMac, Yeti and all the winners.
Looking forward to next year.

wow great Job Jeremy, Smitty , Emac and all the Voluneers. WOW the courses were amazing, OB strung on every hole, every basket for 3 courses were painted with putting circles so you knew where to jump putt. The work that the DD crew puts into events is awesome. I vote DD for best TD in america. These guys are setting the standard for how A tiers and premeir events should be run. Anybody wanting to be a part of the top progression of our tournys should be at DD events and or any TD wanting to become great show up and volunteer and see how the Best are running events. Way to go DD !!! great weekend.
Congrats EMac and Yetti

man Now I see why Eric is so good. If you lived in Emporia and had those 3 courses as home course...you game can certainly improve...lol. Those 3 combinations of courses are freakin awesome.

Heck of an event.
kvdiscpro- The circles were nice, but most of them were only about 30 ft. You probably shouldn't have been jump putting from them.

I agree, DM has the best set of 4-5 courses that I have ever been seen. The man up stairs willing, I will be there next month.
On the other hand JR and DD crew keeps out doing themselves every year. It was total fun and non stressful. JR and the DD crew does put on some of the best tournys in the region.
Thanks to all personel that made 2010 GBO a hugh success. See you all back in Emporia KS in 2011.
Peace,
