The registrations have begun to flow in. Thus far we've got gals coming down for the warm Florida weather from Michigan, South Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, and California!
Your TD Shawn Sinclair has been hard at work getting some great sponsors on board and there will be some fun surprises. We're also rockin' out to get the course prettier than last year with much less schule to contend with. We're centralizing all activities so that the comradery will be increased as well!
Fella's: This would be an awesome holiday surprise gift for your best gal! Buy them an entry into La Vie en Rose and plan a great weekend together as you cook and caddy for her to show just how special she is for you!
Club's: A great way to thank your female members who work so hard to bring other ladies to the game would be to sponsor their trip to La Vie en Rose. We all say that we want to support the women in the game of disc golf, why not take this opportunity to show them that we're willing to walk the walk as well as talk the talk!

Happy holidays to all!

We're working hard on course preparation now and enjoying beautiful weather with high's around 70. If you're planning on getting some practice time in on The Magnolia, I just wanted to give a heads up that by the end of this weekend the course will be in the tournament set-up.
All players will play from the same tees each round and the baskets will remain in the same location for all three rounds.
Open players will play blue tees (except holes 4, 6, and 8 from the red) all three rounds
Pro Masters and Advanced will play red tees all three rounds
Intermediate and Recreational will play pink tees all three rounds
I'll be here until January 9th. Feel free to give a call if you'd like to get a round in.
Peace,
Denny

Here's a video I made for the Spirit of the Suwannee Website featuring a lot of photos from last year's event. Registrations are comin' in steady now, we've got 27 ladies from 10 states signed up. If you're on the fence, time to sign up, we'll have highs in the 70's :)

Hello everyone. Looks like a great field again this year. If you are able to bring a camera along please try to get the faces of all the winners as well as some great family and other event pictures for DiscGolfer.
Use a pretty high resolution setting on your camera because it takes a better picture for magazine print than it does for internet posting.
Give me a call if I can do anything to help get some great pictures for our magazine. I'll give you upload information to make transferring your submissions much easier than in email. Also to make sure we get the credit and subject right.
Thanks

Reflections on La Vie en Rose 2010:
Thank you so much to everyone that had anything to do with this year’s tournament. It was a memorable weekend for me and I am supremely grateful to all who worked and competed. I’d like to mention some folks in particular, but by no means is this list comprehensive.
It was a pleasure to assist the Co-TD’s Shawn Sinclair and Juliana Korver. They did a fantastic job over the year bringing awesome sponsors on board, were very well organized, put together a fantastic player’s package presented in unique hand-made bags by Juliana and conceived a very cool showcase skins format. Being among the gallery watching the PAWS was the highlight of my weekend.
Once again Mike and Cindy Barnett of Sun King Disc Sports came through huge for La Vie. They provided a sweet micro-fiber towel for the players package, ran the 1st ever La Vie en Rose Kan Jam tournament, sponsored a tee sign, and redeemed all the amateur prize vouchers in their mobile store.
The Sarasota Sky Pilots once again played an instrumental role in helping this event go off. Carole & Tyler Brant, J. R. Ekens, Deb Renner, and Nicole Daviau were extremely generous in giving of their time and money to provide lunch for players on both Saturday and Sunday. This was the second year that they’ve done that and we’re all extremely grateful. They also provided very cool La Vie en Rose glass candles for each of the players that did not “cash”. Thanks also to Connie Lehman, who assisted with creating the candles. SSP #1401, Tim Willis provided a friendly and steady presence doing tournament scoring.
A very special thanks goes out to Leslie Charles. Once again we were blessed with her warm presence and very generous donations. Leslie sponsored a tee sign, donated several of her books, made inspirational cards for the player’s package, and created beautiful jewelry for the division winners.
The long-time supporters of women’s disc golf Mom and Old Man made the long drive from Illinois to assist with scoring, spotting, hospitality and other duties. We’re very grateful to have had their assistance. Thanks also to the semi-locals Andrew Wells and Jeff Liddell for help on several occasions preparing the course and assisting during last weekend.
I was very pleased to hear about the degree to which the Charlotte area disc golf scene has gotten behind the women and have supported their efforts to establish a strong women’s league and assisted them in attending La Vie en Rose. Aside from having many great courses and many outstanding players, Charlotte is doing right by the women and is a disc golf community that is truly an example of how great disc golf can be. Much of the country would be wise to take note of Charlotte.
We were very blessed to have many other great sponsors on board, some of which included: Keen, Gateway Disc Sports, Innova, huk lab, Fade, Lifetime Disc Sports, The Little Wing Disc Golf Club, DGA, Widye, Ulu Ventures, Jubon, Peyton Designs, the PDGA, Disc Diva, Hart Environmental, World Champion Disc Golf Design, the Phoenix Ladies open, Revolution Disc Golf, Sandy Sinclair, Billy Crump and The Clash, Tita Ugalde, and the United Flyers of Sonoma.
I will definitely vouch for the Keen Milo being a superior shoe for disc golf. There were several places on the course with standing water and my feet stayed dry in my very comfortable Milo’s.
As always, huge thanks go out to the management and staff of the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park for supporting disc golf and maintaining such a beautiful venue for La Vie. We’re certainly hoping that some of the local ladies will step up and join us for the competition next time! I also want to point out that the park as some outstanding music festivals coming up this year:

April 22-24
Magfest (https://www.elevate.com/boxoffice/?eid=1554)

November 12-14
I had a great time hanging around the campsite and getting to meet many great ladies. Thanks so much to Team Ohio for keeping my belly full and for the world’s fastest pack job on my van! I had no idea that my stereo was so freakin’ loud. My ears are still ringing. Can’t wait to see lots of pictures loaded up on facebook.
This was my 15th disc golf tournament that I’ve either run or assisted with and one thing stands out about La Vie en Rose. The women in this sport have a great attitude. They know that they come out and get together because it is fun to throw plastic discs with friends at disc golf baskets. They respect, encourage, teach and love each other. The pack out what they pack in and always bring a presence to the course that makes the day better in some way, however big or small. Don’t get me wrong, the competitive spirit to do one’s best lives in their hearts, but it never overshadows what’s really important about sport.
Speaking of competitive spirit, I had the pleasure of walking with the lead Pro group during the final round and would like to congratulate Burl on a gritty performance to overcome the tough competition from Liz Carr, Val Jenkins and Sandy Gast. Burl struggled a bit early-on in the round, but managed to keep her composure and get her game back on track to earn the W. Our other division winners included Barrett White repeating as Pro Masters champ by one over Peg Berry, Haleigh Sowerby from Texas in advanced by one over Christine Savvakis, Casey Schoonovner by one over Candy Roque in intermediate and Christina Stanley in recreational.
The next La Vie en Rose will be in February of 2012, as we’ll be using an alternate-year schedule for the near future. We recognize that this news comes as a disappointment to many of our competitors, but being patient for an extra year will allow us to keep charged up, continue to increase sponsorship and ensure that each version of the event is better than the previous one.
Thanks again to all and wishing you a great 2010!
"Let us put men and women together to see which one is smarter,
Some say men but I say no! The women got the men like a puppet show.
It ain't me, it's the people who say,
The men are leading the women astray.
But I say that the women today
Are smarter than the men in every way.
That's right, the women are smarter,
That's right, the women are smarter,
That's right, the women are smarter,
The women are smarter that's right.
Little boy sit in the corner and cry,
Big man come and ask him why.
He said "I can't do what the big boys do,"
The man sat down and he cried too.
It ain't me, it's the people who say,
The men are leading the women astray,
But I say that the women today
Are smarter than the men in every way.
That's right, the women are smarter,
That's right, the women are smarter,
That's right, the women are smarter,
The women are smarter, that's right.
Ever since the world began,
The women been bending the ways of men,
But listen here boys 'cause I got a plan,
Give it up, don't try to understand.
It ain't me, it's the people who say,
The men are leading the women astray.
But I say that the women today
Are smarter than the men in every way.
That's right, the women are smarter,
That's right, the women are smarter,
That's right, the women are smarter,
The women are smarter, that's right."

As one of the few male attendees, I was very impressed with how this tournament was run and how different the Women disc golf scene really is. I have scene girls having fun in movies/TV (fake) but I have never scene anything like this. What an incredible bunch of women. The competition was there during the rounds, but it was very different than the "working" and crap talking on the men's side. Women ARE better, they are cool in the heat of competition and they really take care of each other. The camp party was insane fun. Congratulations too all of the women who attended this event. All winners!
