Southpaw527
Nov 06 2009, 07:34 PM
Both rounds will be at Boomer Lake. There will be 2 rounds and NO final 9.
Sunday will also be 2 rounds the first will be best shot and the second will be best score " this is where both teammates play the hole and the better of the 2 scores are written down"

I guess the same applies in mixed doubles as well?
Just a suggestion is that you do some alternating shot or worst shot for at least one round just so that the women come more into play. Just a suggestion to help even the field a little and to get everyone involved.
Southpaw527
Nov 09 2009, 06:30 PM
Sounds like a great idea too me! I will make the mixed doubles division as follows...
1st Round= Best Shot
2nd Round= Holes 1-9 tough shot"the other teams' pick your lie" Holes 10-18 alternate shot "1 player tee's off then the other player throws from the new lie, this is continued for the durration of holes 10-18"

I hope everyone is planning on coming out too the Hideaway Pizza Stillwater Classic. I have been working very hard on a tournament that will cater to both the Pro's and Am's,
I believe both sides will find what they are looking for!
I have top 40% payout to pro's for a bigger checks,
top 50% payout to am's for big payouts too more of the field,
sanctioning for ratings and points,
over the $500.00 mando for added cash

I hope everyone makes the short drive to Stillwater for one or both days. This format gives everyone a choice, B Tier sanctioned or non-sanctioned doubles fun.
Boomer is a great course and it is home to several of our best players, Kevin McCoy. Jose Mendoza and OO Master Champ Cris Hicks..
This is the only sanctioned tournament that weekend within many many miles.
Come out and support disc golf in Stillwater. Matt has worked his butt off getting sponsors, in this economy, and as we all know the more the merrier.
Stillwater is just over a 1 hour drive from Tulsa of OKC.
Spread the word, grab a doubles partner "if that is your bag baby", and spend a great late fall day or weekend in Stillwater..

You're right Mike I won't be there. I'll be at the same place I was last weekend,...hanging lights and doing the TDSA Christmas display at Chandler. No help from you needed.
All I saw was the intial post....
OPEN= 80.00
ADVANCED= 60.00
INTERMEDIATE= 40.00
RECREATIONAL= 40.00
JUNIOR= 20.00
Is it possible that he meant to post $30 for rec because most events seem to tier down in price based on division. If not then I'm sorry, I thought it was just a type-o.
A $30 retail value players pack sounds great but do you actually have to have an event to sell it or couldn't you just sell it on Ebay and save everybody the drive?
I probably wouldn't have mentioned anything about it if he hadn't show up on Martin's "Spring Fling" thread claiming how low cost, easy, and great sanctioned events were and I should have known by posting a comment to him here that you, like always, would be here soon enough to defend your boy.
Is he really running it or are you and let me know if you need me to buy up any extra tournament stamp plastic like I did when Andrew ran it.
You want to put me in with the Diel and Mitchell group then go ahead.
It's not a business to me.
That being said, I apoligize for stepping on your boy's event and I'm sure it will run great like all TnT events.

A $30 retail value players pack sounds great but do you actually have to have an event to sell it or couldn't you just sell it on Ebay and save everybody the drive? - That is a great attitude, can we do the same thing for Chandler Stock, just check on ebay instead of actually attending the tournament??
I probably wouldn't have mentioned anything about it if he hadn't show up on Martin's "Spring Fling" thread claiming how low cost, easy, and great sanctioned events were and I should have known by posting a comment to him here that you, like always, would be here soon enough to defend your boy. - The Stillwater Classic has always been sanctioned. Matt has worked hard at lining up sponsors and taking over a long standing tournament rather than letting it die on the vine. Glad to see you defening Martin as if he can't do that for himself.
Is he really running it or are you and let me know if you need me to buy up any extra tournament stamp plastic like I did when Andrew ran it. - Matt is running the tournament and I will be there to help anyway I can, the sameway I would help you if you needed it. Oh yeah, you do always need my help, I forgot. Do you mean buy the extra disc so you can make a profit??
You want to put me in with the Diel and Mitchell group then go ahead. - I have no idea what that statement means. If you have something congnizant to say please take another try, it didn't come through this time.
It's not a business to me. - Like it's a business to any of us Scott.

So now that you know you're still in good graces lets get some excitement going for this Stillwater tournament.
The weather is showing some promise, it's the only B Tier within miles, $700.00 added cash and a nice players pack.
Boomer is a great course with something for everyone. The city has been a real pain to deal with recently. Matt will run a great tournament and I hope all of you make the trip.

Stillwater Classic Prices
OPEN= 80.00
ADVANCED= 60.00
INTERMEDIATE= 40.00
RECREATIONAL= 40.00
JUNIOR= 20.00
Suggested PDGA Prices for B Tiers
OPEN= 70.00
ADVANCED= 50.00
INTERMEDIATE= 30.00
RECREATIONAL= 30.00
JUNIOR= 25.00
PDGA also says TD's are strongly urged not to exceed the values listed in determining their PDGA entry fee's.
So I agree with FurDog that the prices may be a little over what the PDGA says you are expected to charge for a B tier. But I will be there either way ready for the fun that Matt has planned and look forward to seeing the course again as this was the first tourney I ever played in.

The OO B Tier, a mere two weeks ago, was Int $45 and Rec $35.
Stillwater Classic is splitting the difference and made both divisions $40.
If you offer a decent players pack then you either have to raise the price or have less available for payout. Matt wants to make sure everyone has a nice players pack for making the drive and have the best payout he can based on the prices
Boomer needs some work and the city has shown little interest in helping. Any funds left over will go back into upgrading disc golf in Stillwater.

Good Job Matthew... continuing the tradition of trying to keep the CLASSIC going. I'm sure it is THANKLESS duty out there. Watching the "golfers" chugging 40's and complaining while your doing some good work out there. Also GREAT JOB getting actual added cash to an event in these trying economic times. I am a huge fan of the 1 day so folks are not forced to get a hotel or beg floor space from friends.
I also commend your decision to sink some funds back in to the course and mend that bridge with the city. I find it hard to believe that as long as disc golf has been in Stillwater, The city still isn't on board. This move will certainly help. You can count on me bringing some goodies for you to GIVE away.

Correct, hole # 7 over the pond. It is an intimidating hole especially with the normal wind there.
The Int, rec and juniors, including women , played from the alternate pad accross the bridge. This is all detailed in the TD report being sent to the PDGA.
I will say, with the slope to the right of the basket from the alt pad, that can be problematic too..
I hope everyone had a good time. Doubles was fun yesterday. Hopefully we will see some course improvements coming soon!!!

if the top of the event page says "Official results" and there are no ratings next to your names, then that means it will show up "officially" at the next ratings update, thats the way it seems to work. The event happens, the results go in first as unofficial, so you can see a tentative rating for your round, then they kind of "go missing" until the official ratings update comes out.

if it says Official, and there are no ratings, it means they WILL be added to the next update.
it is a little confusing how it works but, if you read my last post, thats pretty much how it seems to happen. i looked at the stillwater tourney, seems like those should be added in the next update.

I have an email from the PDGA office assuring me the OO and Stillwater ratings will be included. All money was paid on time and the TD reports as well.
