So where is all the trash talk about Texas Teams?

Man am I glad this is happening again this year. BIG THANK to John, Dee, and the rest of the people that make this happen. Texas Teams is the best disc golf party on the planet!!!

The Warlocks will be making our second appearence in the Established division this year. We hit our goal of making it to play Sunday afternoon last year. Hoping to make it past the round of 16 this year. Although I'll be playing Lefty...so watch out INT2 players!!! You don't want to get beat by someone throwing opposite hand!!!!

GO WARLOCKS!!!
(we're already planning our 3 brewery stop trip to the ranch)

San Angelo had another 6 man team looking to sign up and discovered there's a waiting list for this event. I assume they're trying to set the pools and schedule before they post the completed list?

Live Oak will be in the house to bring up the rear once again. Nevertheless, one to be contended with. We would also like to thank John & Dee for continuing to invite all of us to their beautiful home. Message to all extended family members and team players...the holidays are upon us and Live Oak is once again working with our local fire dept with a FOOD DRIVE for local families that have very little. Although canned food donations do fill the hole, this year we are hoping to receive donations of things we take for granted such as TOILETRIES, i.e toothbrush, toothpaste, TP, Q-tips, socks (nothing like putting on a fresh new pair of socks), blankets, wipies...something useful you think that someone would not go buy with their last $5, ya know. Last year we help 60 families with baskets valued @$250ea. Thank you for allowing me to reach out to the 400 players so we can reach out a hand to a child in need. I know y'all give all year, but a $1 toothbrush would do wonders for someone you don't even know. I know PDP loses more than that in a 9 hole skins round. I have faith that y'all will take this to heart and please spread the word. THANK YOU!

Who knows, maybe some behinds will be branded in the wee hours. Will Victoria be in the house?

Don't confuse Edman with those cool, tie-dyed Waterlooers. :)

Now Vinnie is a different story: his dream is to wear tie-dye, shout "Waterloo" and play for the cool team. :)

edman
Nov 18 2009, 11:28 AM
I don't have anymore tie-dye, I donated to Waterloo so they could make some socks for this weekend. Sheldon said he needs all of his and can't lend them them this year. Waterloo with 3 teams this year, wow the yarn barn must going crazy.

Vinnie already plays for the coolest team-the HATERS, don't know how we were able to wrangle that one but we did.

It's hard to keep my brewery stocked because I drink it all.:D

I can see that being an issue, probably the reason I haven't gotten into homebrewing!

All I have right now is some Pumpkin Ale. I'll save one for you if you want it.;)

Would love to give it a try...Not always a huge fan of pumpkin beer, but rarely turn down a hand crafted beer! I'll be looking for you!

I've just heard from Aaron Stair that one of the Searight teams needs a couple of players. I'm going to send out a mass-email about Teams this weekend, does anyone else still need a player or two to round out the roster? SADC, are y'all still looking for an MA1 or MA2?

Let me know by 1:30 today and I'll include all the requests in the email. Be sure to give me the contact info you'd like included.

Aaron's email is [email protected] in case you are interested in filling one of those spots.

The Seawright/Seawrong teams don't require tie dye. You have to be able to throw cig butts and beer cans all over the place though. James how did you get in, is there really a team out there that loves you?

I'm sure some of you have already read the email from Dee about someone already breaking the ranch rules, by jumping the fence??????

Come on captains please let your players know the rules, if not all the rules...at least the "big ones", and jumping the fence seems to be a pretty big one. Don't let it be a player from your team that ruins the 11th Annual Texas Teams for the rest of us!!!

I know I want to be heading back to the ranch next November!

Pool G

Pool H

Seamoore SEAM

We'll post Merged Pools later tonight or in the morning. There are 12 Merged teams who will be playing in 2 pools: Pool m and Pool n.

Established teams will play everyone else in their pool on Saturday. The 8 pool winners will sleep Sunday; everyone else will go to the Mixmaster. 8 more teams will advance from the Mixmaster. Then it will be the Sweet 16, Elite 8, Final Four, Terrible Two...

We're on a very tight schedule. Just know that if we get severe weather and can't finish pool play Saturday, we'll have to cancel the Mixmaster and Sweet Sixteen, so don't slack off on Saturday.

Merged teams will play 4 rounds Saturday and one Sunday. The top 2 teams from each pool will advance.

The following pools will have an 8:00 (sharp) meeting and an 8:30 start: A,B,C,D,m,n
The other pools will have a 10:45 meeting and an 11:30 start: E,F,G,H

A note on team names: many teams have given themselves new names for this year, which is fine. You can call yourselves (and the other teams) whatever you like in private. But during the event, we can't handle dozens of new names. So we will still lovingly refer to you using names based on your home city or course. I have included above the abbreviations we'll be using on scorecards. Please make sure everyone on your team knows your official tournament name.

One other important note. Sadly, we no longer own the Back 50. We still own the Hill and the Meadow, and we hope to own them for a very long time. Thank you for your respect of our land, and please be extra super respectful of the Back 50. The new owners have very generously allowed us to use it this weekend.

It's going to be a fantastic weekend.

Looks like our team will be sleeping in................AGAIN. All we have to do is stomp on some used up tie dye wearing old men, Waterloo 1 who would be more intimidating if it was WaterLOU"s team, and a bunch of Hecklers that live on to of a big rock.

See you guys Sunday around Noon............and to the other teams in our pool.........good luck in the mixmaster we will be rooting you on.

Nov 20 2009, 01:30 PM
Now, here are your two Merged Pools. You'll play everyone in your pool -- that means four matches Saturday, and one Sunday. Then the top two teams from each pool will advance to the Final Four. No Mixmaster, Sweet 16, or Elite 8 -- so get the job done on Saturday.

All Merged teams will have an 8:00 (sharp) meeting and an 8:30 tee time.

Pool m
Houston Disc Pack HDP
Aggie Generals AGG
Nani Falcons NF
Z-Boaz Light ZBL
Concho Valley DGA CVDGA
Weatherford WEA

Pool n
Crowley Intimidators CROWI
North Park NP
Aggie Jus-Disc League AGJDL
Hill Country Merged HCM
Houston Disc Pack Light HDPL
Odessa Six Shooters OSS

Again, please know the abbreviation we're using for your team, because that's what you'll likely see on your scorecards.

Still raining here at Circle R, but not too hard. Hoping it'll pass through in the next few hours and leave us ready (and grateful) for a beautiful weekend.

krunk rock rocks the mixmaster with 85 then sends team mileage to the house. to revenge our only loss on saturday. 2 round rock teams fun haters and krunk rock advanced to elite 8 then they both lose. 2 of the final teams where crowley and pease but that is when we left not sure who the other 2 teams where...

thank you to houck for having us out and to his staff for all their hard work

I think crowley won but according to the rules email they wont be back next year due to some fence jumping.. DOH or at least that is what I heard.

"
We are really appreciative of everyone following all the ranch rules. Already today, we have had people jump the fence. NO JUMPING FENCES or STREET PARKING! You must follow the rules.

We will be forced to dis-allow individuals and players who do not follow the ranch rules and our requests back to Texas Teams in the future.

'

you only wish crowley wasn't invited back next year. I guess i would hope for the same thing if i had been trying to win an event for 10 years and still couldn't do it.

Team crowley......3 years of participation
2nd place 2007
1st place 2008
3rd place 2009

dfw teams and players will always rock this state

The ranch at Wimberly means alot to many people in the Austin area. You would never catch an Austin team jumping the fence just out of respect to the land barron. It's probably something you northerners wouldn't understand. So don't screw it up for the rest of us. And in case you haven't noticed you guys took 3rd this year, looks like your slipping there bud.

if the golfers are treated like children, they'll act like children. so golfers, don't play into it. act like grown-ups in spite of how you are treated.

hope everyone had FUN this weekend

The ranch at Wimberly means alot to many people in TEXAS. You would never catch Teams that love and respect not only the ranch, but John and Dee jumping the fence just out of respect. So don't screw it up for the rest of us.

Edited it a little to fit a little broader scoop.

Us south Texas guys aren't the only ones that are capable of respect or understanding but we would never break into a property and sit up camp just because. To some of you the ranch might just be a place you come once a year and get get your groove on with fellow golfers. But to us it's a huge part of the Austin scene and really is a catalyst to the rest of the growth here since it's owned by the Houck's. I commend you on apologizing to the John and Dee. No hard feelings, just expressing the area's thoughts, and believe me that there are many that feel the same way I do.

This year proved that winning your pool is overated. At least 3 teams in the final 8 came out of the mixmaster, and 2 of them were from the ROCK. How many more made it. The Fun Haters were the 25th ranked team and we knocked out the 5th rated(arlington a) in the Sweet 16. I guess when you win your pool you get to sleep in and dream about getting your tail handed to you next. Good times John, Dee, Fishead and staff.

Trust me Ed when I say I to feel the same about trespassing.I would never want my team to do anything to jeopordize the ranch or any event ever held there.I enjoy every moment I get on that ranch whether it be teams or just passing through.I can totally respect you and all the south Texas golfers feelings on the ranch and its courses.See you in Tyler.

How are you figuring where your team was "rated"?
Are you going by the scores coming out of the mixmaster?
The order in which they are put into pools originally?(meaning Crowley was #1, ProTurn #2, ect)

just curious.....

John announced it. Every team is seeded, that is how they make the pools. He couldn't help himself by saying that #25 beat #5 right before we went out to play Pease. Coming out of the mixmaster we actually tied for 7th and that's how we made it. And to think I was going to lay-up on RM #17 for fear of going OB. That would of been a costly mistake for the Haters, and I probally woundn't be alive to tell it if that was the case.

John and Dee - A thousand "Thank you's!!!" to you for hosting another edition of Texas Teams! It was the first tournament I ever attended out-of-town and it is what hooked me on the whole disc golf scene. This one was another fantastic and fun tournament and will hold memories I will cherish for years to come. Thanks!

PS - The ankle isn't broken. It's about 12 shades of purple and tender is all.

First of all, I would like to apologize to anyone watching this little drama unfold. My opinion isn't necessarily the opinion of my teammates. Secondly, just because brad acts like this doesn't mean his team aren't cool. All of them are good people.

"Britt as far as what anyone did or didnt do from Z BOAZ is none of your business when your team is just as guilty as we supposedly are.You seem to grow these huge balls when your sitting behind your keyboard talking your S#!t!!!! "Z BLOAZ"in YOUR WORDS is a place you seem to like to talk S#!t about online. But when your playing golf there you seem to stop beating your drum so loudly....why is that????Guess maybe you dont have a computer to HIDE BEHIND?Worry about what you and your team is doing before you get online and try and throw us under the bus!Better yet try making a phone call and apologizing for what your ignorance led you to do.And if it wasnt YOU making the mistake then stay out of things that dont pertain to YOU!"

Being that the involved party on our team had already talked to Houck (on thurs) and resolved the situation I guess I had assumed you guys had taken care of it. That being said, I wasn't even gonna bring it up but, since it was, I figured a little tongue and cheek was called for. ( which Paul Taylor obviously got)
When 1 member of our team does something and our whole team is blamed then it IS my business. That member is the only one without internet access so, I guess the rest of us fell down on that one. That person promptly left after being informed by Yeti. We got there about 6 and met up and waited down the road till 10. Just like everyone else. btw: I noticed you didn't mention that I actually called someone on your team to warn them as I was told some of your guys were there.
Everyone who knows me knows I don't wish bad on anybody. I can go off once in a while just like anybody but, on the whole don't even really talk much smack. (ahem...beating drum). As a matter of fact I rooted for all the DFW teams because I play with a lot of them. (especially zboaz, weatherford, crowley, and haltom)
Knowing that your philosophy is "it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission" I'm not surprised you waited till today to rectify the situation. Just because you can't handle up doesn't mean I'm hiding behind a computer screen OR have anything to apologize for. btw: I didn't coin the z-bloaz phrase. I'm just the last one to use it.
Lastly, I've NEVER pulled a knife unless it was life or death. Especially on someone 4 INCHES SHORTER. You can claim it was a leatherman but, a 4 inch blade kills just as surely as any other edge.

PS: I paid for the gas to transport, the fuel, and the chainsaw to cut that cord of wood you stole from us saturday. You owe me $20.

Britt I will be @ the course on Friday...If you think I stole from you then you can try and collect then.As far as the rest of your post we can discuss that at the same time.I personally dont have time to defend my actions or my teams actions here any longer. Mr Houck is satisfied with the apology given and thats good enough for me.

That's right, you don't have to defend yourself here. You do have to answer for your disrespect of me and my team. Namely the personal attack on me and when you stole our wood and then bad mouthed us. Where were YOUR huge balls when confronted by an old man about it on Saturday? And talking about a phone call, why didn't you call anybody on my team to apologize for your theft? Turns out that most of the wood you stole was Isaac's. So, he's the one you need to apologize to. Grow up and take responsibility like an adult instead of making personal attacks on me.
ONCE AGAIN, A FLIPPANT REMARK BY ME THAT MAKES YOU EAT CROW BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T HANDLE YOUR BUSINESS DOESN'T MEAN I'M HIDING OR HAVE ANYTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR.

"When 1 member of our team does something and our whole team is blamed then it IS my business. That member is the only one without internet access so, I guess the rest of us fell down on that one."

I don't understand how a person's lack of Internet access can cause them to disregard basic rules of civility and respect for someone else's property.

Are you asserting that because this guy didn't have access to the Internet (and didn't get to read the ranch rules published there) that somehow that excuses him from jumping the Houck's fence and doing whatever he wanted because the gate was locked?

If so, then I'm not seeing the connection. It seems to be a pretty commonly accepted principle that you can't just jump someone else's fence and enter their property any time you want to use someone else's land. Is the person in question an American? I'm curious about what logic-path he followed to assume that it was acceptable behavior on his part.

Not trying to stir anything up here, I'm just trying to understand what happened and how anyone could think that this was OK.

I can't speak for him and am not him and I'm not defending him but, talking to him on Friday he said he's known Houck for 20 years and thought they would want someone trustworthy watching their property (I assume he hadn't seen the course crew yet). Yes, I said trustworthy. I've known him for 8 years and he's always left the course cleaner than he came, can be trusted with ace pot money, and is an all around good guy. When the course crew caught up with him and they called to see if it was ok if they could stay, Dee (who I assume he hasn't known for 20 years) wanted him OFF the property. That's when he left and we all met up and came back at 10. I think he just made a mistake built on good intentions and no disrespect was meant. As it is, the matter is resolved, has been resolved for days. Let's just let it go.
