The flyer is now up for the South Carolina Disc Golf Championships. It can be viewed and downloaded at

www.columbiadiscgolfclub.com

For those who have played this event before, you'll see some changes at Owens Field. In particular, the have been renumbered to straighten out the flow, holes 2 & 16 are gone, replaced by a new hole 2 and a new hole 18 that should be pretty cool (I've only seen it in the design phase, but trust me). Furthermore---and I know I said this before but it's bound to be true sooner or later---this may be the last chance to play Earlewood before some changes come. The building is scheduled for demolition and a new, much larger building coming (which we hope won't affect holes 1 & 10, but you never know), and a walking trail to be installed winding through the park (not sure how this will affect us). At the very least, for the very nostalgic, it's likely to be our last tournament hosted in the current building.

For those who have not played before, this event features 2 rounds each on 2 very different courses. Earlewood is short and extremely hilly; Owens Field has some monster holes and very technical holes, and is completely flat. Expect to use every shot in your bag, and perhaps to make up a few new ones, if you want to win.

In between the two courses, the State Fair will be going on, if you want to make your weekend a little more festive.

The SC Championships should have two rounds on Earlewood with SC discs!:)

Let's not muddle things any worse than they already are.

The South Carolina Disc Golf Championships happen a month after the South Carolina Flying Disc Championships. We used to also have a "Tournament Players Championship" in this tiny state. Which is why I've long advocated a rationing system for the word "Championship".

Though I must say, if someone were to add a SC Disc SC Championship (ugh!), Earlewood would work nicely.

The pre-reg list is up. While this tournament does not fill and usually gets a heavy morning-of registration, we certainly encourage every who knows they're coming to pre-register. Make it easy on yourself....and easy on us.

I was just talking to an Owens Field player with info on the new holes. New Hole 18 tees out of the woods through a tight shoot, out over a wide-open area, then hyzers (RHBH) into a wooded green with a steep drop-off behind the basket. New Hole 2 reverses the fairway of old hole 16, but goes further, and puts the basket behind a huge tree; he says the easy birdie shot is replaced by a precision shot where a birdie is really earned.

I understand Hole 3 also has a new pin placement, left and out in the open, and should be much improved.

The major change at Earlewood is that vandals took down the screen on #16 that forced shots between it and the big oak. No more hitting the net and richoceting back 40 feet. The big arms have more room to run at the basket and the, ugh, littler arms will find it a little safer to fire away at full strength.

Just wonderin' how much of Team Charleston is coming? In recent years they've done more than their share to take our money in Columbia tournaments. Which....with the added B-tier cash and the average registration, has resulted in some pretty good pro purses for the field sizes.

Lauren and I cannot make it :-(

I have heard of a couple of Chuck-ers going up for it: KJ (converted), Wrenn, Wood, and Blaine?

I will try and spread the word.
