Evan, can you please clarify what the entry fee for FPO is? Thank you.
evandmckee
Jul 28 2009, 02:32 PM
$35 for FPO, added cash of a minimum of $500 will be split evenly per cashing pro competitor, hopefully we have more FPO, we never have in the Fort but it'd be neat to see that change
I have no problem with 1 or 2 or 3 person divisions
I'm quite unsure if that is good or bad but I'm going with the economical approach to try to get more ladies involved, if the ladies want to play for higher stakes side challenges are encouraged
that's the pre-reg price, day of adds $5
online reg at www.twistedflyer.com (http://www.twistedflyer.com) will close around noon on Aug. 18th, mailed check entries are acceptable, email me if you need to reg by mail
people: please pre-register, we have 1 course to work with and if we're going to overfill I'd like to know before the morning of
Just got players pack disc selection in.....looking sweet :)

personally I don't, we brought the event back to life in 2005 (10th)
it had several years of hiatus going back to the 90's, used to be played in Tilles Park in Fort Smith, Shawn LeMastus ran it forever and might know but he never gets on this board

We're happy to announce that Neumeier's Rib Room has been added as a sponsor of this event, this will allow us to provide at least 90 Tournament T-Shirts to participants
Probably not dry fit like the Alma Greens were but they will still be good looking shirts!!
this is the best night spot in Fort Smith with great food, live music and a real good atmosphere
If you are playing HOTB please give them some business and let them know that you are with the event
it'd be a great place to eat Friday night or on Saturday before the long drive contest and to hang out afterwards

dang Martin, you'll be missed.....your predictament did remind me of a joke down in the "Jokes Thread" in Misc. so I stole it, kinda reworded it and posted it here
John was attending his disc golf club's monthly meeting and had just told them
he couldn't make the tournament scheduled for the next day because his
wife wouldn't let him go.
After listening to the jeers and other derisive remarks from his fellow
disc buddies John left to go back home to his wife.
When John's friends started arriving to the course the next day, who should
be there but John making sure his discs were marked, practice putting and warming up for the tournament
"How did ya talk your wife into letting you go John ?"
"I didn't have to" was John's reply.
"When I left the meeting I went home and slumped down in my chair with a
beer to drown my sorrows. Then my wife snuck up behind me and covered my
eyes and said, 'Surprise'!"
When I peeled her hands back she was standing there in a beautiful
see-through negligee and she said, "Carry me into the bedroom, tie me to the
bed and you can do whatever you want."..................................
So here I am!

The Golf Nut Driving Range is very cool, they keep a small rack of disc in stock and are very nice to allow us to use their facility.
we basically have the place to ourselves
It'll be available for practice/warm-up between 7-8 on Sat. evening
at 8, we'll do a divisional Long Drive with 5 throws ea.
we usually will also do a long roller, long mini drive and whatever else we can think up
we'll have some trophies and perhaps some plastic, ect. as prizes
make sure to eat before you come,
it's very laid back and at no charge, great place to hang out with other disc golfers, byob is OK as long as it stays responsible

Carl just flat took us to town. He was leading the tournament overall by 2 strokes going into the final nine. He ended up tied with the open players. He probably didn't care for one of my comments yesterday. I jokingly said Carl, think you can give us a break? he said, I'm trying to beat the pros scores, I told him, then you should have played pro, its going to be hard to beat them if you're not in their division.

No Carl didn't take the Open field by 1. In order to do that he would have had to play Open. Beating another division on strokes is not the same as doing it while you play in that division. He did however crush the Pro master field by a gazillion strokes.
He made that comment on Sunday morning when I asked him to take it easy on us. He said he was trying to beat the pros, I told him, I guess you should have played Pro then. He said it wasn't about the money, I replied once more, then I guess you should have played pro.

very true, different mentality in different divisions, and we all know,

a five-and-a-half-inch course...the space between your ears.

He had no pressure applied to him from our division, it wouldn't have been that way in the Open division. Granted, he may have won it but we'll never know for sure.
He played like he could have won the Open division but I'll NEVER give a player credit for saying he beat a division in which he didn't play.
Just my opinion though.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone, we strive to do it right and showcase each of our courses the best that we can, these are true "club ran" events and us working as a team is the only way we can do it, without all the great help from our staff and volunteers, who also go get the sponsorship it takes, HOTB and the Alma Greens would not be what it is today and continually getting bigger, better and fatter
The compliments from all of you makes it so worth the work, TDSA has always set the example that WAFDA has tried to learn from, thanks again to all who particpate and sponsor our events :)
WAFDA has been able to provide $4,385 to charitable causes this year
$3,050 to food banks in our Ice Bowls and $1,335 to the EDGE program, also around $2000 added to pro payouts and no telling how much extra merch, ect in players packs and payouts
It's all of you, the players, volunteers and sponsors that make this possible :)
