Official thread to talk about worlds related topics... players... hot rounds... track eachother's performance, etc.
I am sitting here at work and I know a lot of people have already left to start practicing... all I can think about is this huge tournament! Personally, looking forward to my first worlds experience and just enjoying the whole environment there!
Hopefully, we Okies can have a record breaking year and bring back some championships!!
Goodluck to anyone playing, I'll see you up there sunday morning!

****, I hate playing in the rain. :( It's bad enough that I'm normally working on another DFL but to be constantly pelted with water balloons from the sky doesn't make it any better. It takes away any game I've got, and any game I was ever going to have.

This is the perfect Worlds for CODA in KC, the courses are perfect for his game should be in the mix the whole way.
The Crowler in the mix!!! Keep it up and more & more impressed with Adam Hunt, looking forward to seeing his game more at USDGC.
The Dude begins his march forward today!
Rooting big time for Daryl Johnson, he's got some TOUGH competition but I think he will be in the mix as well.
The Masters Trophy is coming back to Georgia, Phil Arthur is on a mission this year to win that tourney. I have played against Phil in 4 events this year and he's got me 2 times and we tied once. He is playing great, and the Hammster will make a run and be in the mix probably scooping up 2nd.

I'm not an Okie, but I probably play more in Okla than I do in Texas so up at World's I've felt like a transplanted Sooner State son.
Congrats to Twisted man for sure. That's awesome. Some good karma from running so many events. And Forest and Mitch and Joe with aces.
Coda is keeping it together mentally very well with an injury. That's impressive. That 56 he had while healthy at Blue Valley in those conditions was awesome!
Congrats to Josh Crowl for his World's debut. And Kyle for some great golf this week.
And it's always good to see the Camera guy.
We Texans make cracks about Oklahoma for its turnpikes, poor teacher pay and a host of other reasons.
But they got some great guys who play disc golf.
Well done, Oklahoma.

First of all congratulations to Joe, great week of disc golf and great win.
I had a blast. KC has some great courses and I thought the tourney was ran really well.
I was a little suprised at no dress code enforcement. If there is a requirement for collared or dry fit shirts that should have been enforced, but no biggie to me.
One thing about playing all those rounds on courses that are for the most part very different from Tulsa is it will show you where you need to work, you know holes in your game.
The courses like Swope and Prairie Center is where I played best. Round ratings from 956 to 920.
Cliff Drive and specifically both Rose Dales gave me a lot of problems. I do not think Rose Dale down under should be a World's course. It is so different than the other courses I just didn't think it fit. On top of that the rain made it almost unplayable a few days. The Adv Grand's played it twice as did several of the older divisions. You can throw a perfect shot, barely clip a tree and end up way down a cliff. I had a 40 foot lay up, my rock landed under the basket, stood up and rolled all the way down the hill. Very frustrating rounds. Sometimes I couldn't even get a stance going because I kept sliding down the hill, literally.
It would be nice if we had a course like that here because a lot of golf, especially the more east you go, are on that type of course. I plan on searching out a location to build a down under type course. The closest thing we have is Copper Head but the penalties there still don't compare to down under.
Overall a great experience. I had a great time spending the whole week with my Son's. Andrew played well and Matt was a big help caddying. Oklahoma golfers showed the world just how good they are. Division by division is chocked full of Oklahomans who played very well.
It is good to be home, my bed felt great after the board I slept on all week.
Great job to everyome who played..

congrats joe ro for a big win and congrats mr. crowley for cashin at your first attempt at pro worlds!
the ratings are still messed up for my division, they are comparing all pools scores so prairie, waterworks, wyco, and shawnee all are being compared together, not going to like my first day ratings at all... worlds was awesome but im sad i couldnt rise to the occasion and play in the final 9, 9 strokes out... pretty far off for a week of golf, plenty of chances to make the first day up. probably going to stay am and rack up some wins to prove i can excel at the level im at and not fake it in the pro division, there is always time to go pro

WHAT . A . WORLDS ! a great week-long of Disc Golf challenging Courses tricky Weather (at times) nice sights-to-see and chow-to-eat but mostly : the groupings and gatherings of fellow Disc-Golf enthusiasts you couldnt turn-around without bumping into old friends from everywhere around the country and it was especially cool to see all those Okies enjoying their week guys like Duff (always smiling) Teresa (his better half) Coberly , Tillman , Hinshaw(s) , Leemhuis , Moody , Koehring Stacey , who had his Lady caddying (well-equipped and clad in a poncho for the rain) Jerry is just one smart guy many players were fortunate to be accompanied by their wives and other family members like the Clarings many that Ive known-for-years , and some that it was neat-to-meet like Geurins better-half , and long-tall-son doing a Documentary of his own featuring Disc-Golf HOI (whose late-run beat our buddy Mutt out-of-the-Semis) Cam , Digger , Joe T. , Jack T. , DJ , McClellan(s) , Hicks AND , even more popped-up late in the week to caddy and support : Wise , Thong , Slack , Penny , etc. saw some friends real frequently (same Hotel digs) like ol Michael Treat (most always barefoot , drying out his shoes , and most always grinning and still-enjoying) ya gotta admire his Worlds he jumped into upper skill-levels and tougher-Courses and carried himself like an Ambassador supported both his sons ; 1-to-play and 1-to-caddy kudos to the Treats , and his wife for loaning them out to play the Camera Guy Nail , who probably uploaded more pictures week-long than all-the-other-photographers combined theres a talent for knowing background and composition its not just a plain-old-photo ; its art
.
QT coffee on every street corner what more could you wish for ? well , , , we were witness to that too :

.
a la Joe Rotan you gotta know that having to set-up and run your Fly-Mart at-the-same-time-as playing-rounds-and-rounds of Disc-Golf had to be taxing I reflected on that after seeing all-the-stock that Russ Monkey Burns was hauling with him that kind of dual commitment couldnt be easy and yet , Twisted Flyer was in full prominence at that Fly-Mart add to that : the challenge of round-by-round and Course-after-Course play facing the best Competition there is THEN , after building a margin of a scant-few-strokes over his Field : we got to see Joe kick-it-up-a-notch thru the Semis adding to his lead he was displaying some Talent and Skills that (I bet) even HE didnt know he had primo spectacular he left no doubt THE WORLD is no small place and Rotan is well-deserved CHAMPION of it that defined cool still curious though ? I had to ask Danielle also ? no one called him for a foot-fault during the Finals ? PDGA rules specify that all throws must be made with proper contact to the tee-area or playing-surface ? as far as I could see , he was walking along about 2 feet off the ground throughout ! ! ! ! cool Worlds .

Way to go Joe Rotan!!! World Champion!!! Way to putt the smack down!!!
Worlds was a blast!!! Great disc golf courses... Pretty nice weather... Getting to listen to Mitch Mac's stories... And lots of disc golf...
Funniest thing there was listening to Mitch's Pdga Worlds "tip of the day"
Tip 1
If your putting low...... Start missing high...
Tip 2
If your looking down...... Throw down... If your looking up..... Throw up....
Tip 3
If your in the rough... pitch out...
Tip 4
If you have a Tee Time.... Show up for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tip 5
If it is raining outside...... bring towels
Not as funny if you don't get to see him act them out!!!! He is a riot!

After a few days of letting the past week sink in that's all that I can think over and over again. I must say the folks in KC did a GREAT job! This was the best World's since we did it in 2006. The courses in KC ROCK! I am a BIG fan of throwing downhill!!! Danielle and I got there early so we could take a look at some of the courses and it paid off at Cliff Drive.
Starting off the first day I played like pooh, finishing the day in 8th. Day two I got revenge on Swope AND shot the HOT round at Cliff drive to finish the day tied for the lead. Day three I was able to hang on thru 36 to finish up by 2. Day 4 was another 36 hole ride that found me with the professional caddy services of Jay Slack and I ended up 4up by 4. Then the disc golf gods smiled on me and sent us back to Cliff Drive for the semi's!
When I tee'd off in the semi's I was surrounded by my girl & friends from the good ol' OK and the TDSA. Those friends watched me throw 3 bogies in 4 holes! Wise told me "calm down, your almost out of the tree's boss" I managed to struggle thru a couple of 3's until we hit open land. That is when something inside of me said "crumble or crush" and I just went off!!! On hole #12 that plays 375 feet to a fairway about 80 feet wide, with cliff on right and road o.b. left, I bombed a hyzer over the road and sat 15 out while they either threw in the road, over the cliff or in a bush. I took a 2 and they took 5's and 6's. After that they just worried about eating each other up for second place. That is how I got so far ahead on the last day. I won by exactly the strokes I got on everyone at Cliff both rounds I played there.
Thanks to everyone that has supported Twisted Flyer along the way and THANKS to my friends that either showed up, called, text, emailed or other. I am glad we could experience this together. I am a lucky dude to have friends like you. Thanks to my sponsors Innova, Revolution (lovin' the new ATOMIC colors!!!)Kicker and Danielle.

Haven't been able to post on here until today.. I just wanted to give it up to all the Okies who put it down at the 2009 Worlds! Congratulations to Joe Rotan (ADV Masters WORLD CHAMPION), BVA, Coda, Dorries, Mr. Crowley, Jeremy Taylor, Logan, the Treats, Wayne Forest, Hunt, Chris Stine and anyone else I forgot. I played in the 2009 KC Wide Open so I know how much fun those courses are! Wish I could've been there. I'll definately be at the 2010 Worlds!:D

oooo baby! What a week!! I had a great time in KC, once again. KC is on my list of cities I would be willing to move to if I chose to leave T-Town. Big props to JO-RO and C-Hat for really representing okie golf. Twisted1- complete domination. And then just seeing Coda's anguish between rounds after trying to play with that injury. I can't begin to think to know what he was feeling. I was healthy and he kept smashing me.
My play at worlds was...the downside of a rollercoaster. I started really well. I was on card 6, then 9, and then 7. I was in route to win a USDGC spot and then just continued to fall farther and farther from the front. But all in all, I made the cut and cashed. I can't be too upset. Probably the coolest, slash made me the most nervous, thing that happened for me was as at Water Works. My card is getting ready to tee on hole 10. We had a little bit of a wait before we were able to tee off. I was nervous already because I had the honor to play with GreGory Barsby, Steve Brinster, and Joe Rovere. Then when we were getting ready to tee, I looked behind to see the next group walk to the sitting area for 10, and there he was. The Champ was on the card right behind me. I was only 3 strokes behind Ken Climo after 3 rounds. WTFT?!? (what the french toast) My brain couldn't comprehend this, and this is where my worlds took a turn for the worse. I fought to shoot even this round, but it never seemed that I could get over my nerves the rest of the week.
My goal after worlds is to take the things that I think I've learned, and apply them to the tournaments of the future. Will I be able to do this? We'll see...hah. I hope to see even more okies at Worlds next year.
