It's that time of year again. Fall is coming and so is the Sneeky Pete. We have the fliers up at www.cedarockdiscgolf.com
We are getting PayPal worked out as I'm typing this. It will be going through the club website so the fees won't be as bad this year.
Also while you're there looking at the flier be sure to check out the Shankapotamus Dubs. It's going to be a fundraiser for the Sneeky Pete.

We are already working on the Rock Creek (the temp course). This year we are quite lucky because we have Jon Owens on park staff. He's a disc golfer so can do a lot of the mowing for us and get paid for it. Acouple holes have been tweaked from last year but not too significantly.
We will have the baskets in place and ready for practice rounds Saturday September 19th. This is a couple days earlier than last year. I have to thank the Cedarock park staff for allowing this. Hopefully it will make it easier for prospective players to get a practice round in.

Cedarock is in tournament placements right now. On the first of September it will go back to the shorts and will be back in tournament placements a week before Sneeky Pete, so get your practice rounds in now.

Sorry I have been away working on the temp course.
The temp course is in and ready to play. We are having 1 round Sunday Singles tomorrow. Registration will be at the Oak Grove shelter (the shelter by the open parking lot)and ends at 1:30. It's only $7 and will be a great time to check out the course.
We also have CFR discs available. Star Teerex X's, Champion Teerex X's, Cros, and Gremlins, and Glo Ghampion Aviars, Xcals, Destroyers, Wraiths, and Cobras. Only $20 and going fast.

IT's not you Rod, its just players aren't posting, talking smack, or information in general. Do we know what div are playing what course when, and is there more than 25 registered?
Susan Tucker
Sep 22 2009, 02:02 AM
Yes, we actually have 39 players signed up-mainly through paypal. If you want to pre-register, hit the link on our updated website: cedarockdiscgolf.com
There is a flier attachment that has the schedule on it too.
* paypal registration will be ending sometime thursday night.*
I will be at the gazebo next to the first tee on the Cedarock course most of Thursday & Friday too. Stop by, pre-register, buy a CFR & keep me company for a bit! I'll have Rockcreek (temp course) maps & scorecards with me for anyone who needs them. If ive run off to get lunch, or help the boys out on the course, there will be a sign letting you know when ill be back.
Hope to see everyone this weekend!

It seems that I'll be missing this one.......my family is throwing me a party on Friday, my Birthday. However, if things are over early enough I will try to make it. I love playing in Burlington. Have a great event Rodney.

Joe, sorry to hear you won't make it, but happy birthday.
Susan's going to be at the gazebo most of the day taking registrations and selling CFR's. We have Champion Glo Wraiths and Aviars and a couple other molds left. Buy one and help support the tournament. Any campers also stop by and we will get you set up with park staff to register to camp.
There will be $5 doubles tomorrow at 5:00, not 6:00 like the flier says, on Cedarock Yellow. Registration will be at the gazebo and end at 4:45.
This is the part I hate to have to mention, but there is no alcohol allowed in the park. Please respect all the hard work put in by the tournament staff and not break this rule. When the park employees empty the trash cans, they notice beer bottles and cans. They also notice that there was a tournament. They then put 2 and 2 together and that equals disc golfers breaking the no alcohol rule. Please help us out, heck, please help me out by not having any beer bottles or cans in any park trash can or anywhere on any of the courses after the tournament. I am the one they come to complaining about beer. If it continues to happen tournament after tournament they may not let us set up the Rockcreek course in the future. Drinking in the park during the tournament is a violation of PDGA and park rules. If it's brought to my attention, I have to disqualify whoever it is. I don't want to have to do that to anyone so please don't let it be a problem.
I can't wait to see everyone this weekend. I hear the chances of rain are diminishing for Saturday and Sunday so hopefully we will have some good weather for the Sneeky Pete.

Saturday sounds pretty wet to me....
"Rain showers in the morning will evolve into a more steady rain in the afternoon. High 64F. Winds NE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Rainfall around a half an inch."
Yikes. Better break out the pro plastic.

I saw that this morning myself. Not quite the forecast that has been going for the last couple of days. I have control of many things. The weather, unfortunately, is not one of them. We'll just make the best of it.

For anyone that happens to brave the rain, we will have subs available for lunch. A local Italian restaurant, Angelo's, will be there tomorrow and Sunday morning to take lunch orders. Orders will be taken at the shelter during check-in. You can have lunch delivered to you instead of having to drive anywhere to get food.
That's it for now. I am one sleepy TD. See everyone in the morning. Don't forget your umbrellas.

Not to mention Jerm won distance too. The guy running it said his best was over 650, going slightly downhill. Nate Brewer and Andrew Coggin tied in Distance in Adv, had a throwoff with comets, and Coggins won.

Saw the scores are finally up on line.
Rodney - Seems like the Wellspring Long (Rd 3 - Rec Division) ratings are low.
At the Pro-Am I shot a 55, and that was rated as a 916, this year I shot a 52 and it's rated the same thing? (917?)
Is there some mistake, or has the SSA for that course changed?

How was the weather up there this past weekend? here on the coast it rained for the most part from 1:00 p.m. on on saturday and sunday was just about perfect.
I know initial forecast was for rain on saturday and then a little better on sunday. looks like Jerm. and janson shot lights out in the rain on saturday if that be the case.

Rodney - I looked over a few things and there is def something up with the 3rd round ratings for Rec (Pool C). The pro's in Pool A played that course in the 4th round, and a 56 for them = 906, when Pool C (Rec) played it, 56 = 887.
So it looks like something was entered incorrectly.
bgdwave - The weather sucked Saturday - esp after 1pm, lots of rain. Sunday was beautiful.

I rechecked everything and it's entered correctly. I have no idea what is up with it. I guess that's why they are unofficial results. I assume it will be corrected once I get the TD report in and it is processed. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you guys.

I've shot 2 stokes better better before on a same course and gotten a lower round rating.
Ratings are so all over the place it's stupid. You can't compare what you shoot on the same course with any other time other than the one weekend you played it. You are rewarded when the field plays bad and you are penalized when the field plays good.
It's more so a comparison of how you shot against the field other than how you played the course.
It's just the way it is and no matter how little sense they make, we still use them to compare talent ability and rounds. And worst of all, we use them to determine who can play in what division.
I'm so glad that something is reflected based on how others play allows us to play in a certain division.

MTL - You made my point for me - you said "You can't compare what you shoot on the same course with any other time than the one weekend I played it".
Per my other post see the following...The pro's in Pool A played that course in the 4th round, and a 56 for them = 906, when Pool C (Rec) played it, 56 = 887.
Those rounds were played on the SAME DAY - in fact they were played 1 hour apart. REC had the pads for RD3, Pro's had it for RD4...Based on that, not only was it the same weekend, but the same day...Also - NOTHING was updated on the course, until AFTER the tourney - so there should be no way that the rec rounds in round 3 could have lowered the SSA for the Pro's in RD 4.
Also, Wellspring Long has more than enough statistical/historical data that I can't see how a group of 30ppl can alter the course SSA by so many points. Statistically that just does not make sense.
That being said - I can't really see how the ratings are different. I shot a 52, site is saying that = 917, A pro who shot 52 on that course gets a 950!...I can't help but see a huge problem...
kunipshunfit
Oct 01 2009, 01:05 AM
Also - just for a quick compare of how 'off' these are, check out REC - RD 3, Brad Dixon - HE shot LIGHTS OUT - shot a 49...This is saying it's a 954! Seriously - 49, Wellspring Blue at a 954?
Ok, look at Masters (rd4) - 49 = 986....30+pt difference? Just does not make sense to me. There is simply no SSA that changes like that between rounds.

just bumping this - If I am wrong, I just want to know what I'm confused about. I know the way ratings are calculated are screwy, i just don't see how this makes sense...
Rec RD 3 = Wellspring Blue
Pro Rd 4 = Wellspring Blue
Those scores don't match, and are off by well over a typical SSA change for a course - and the spread increases based on how high the scores are.
Anyway - I just want someone to either explain to me how I'm wrong, tell me I'm right, or acknowledge this post :)

Ok, i think i'm not getting any responses because of the big ole tourney in Charlotte that I completely forgot about, but I did want to point out that I noticed Intermediate played Wellspring Long during RD2...there scores match the pro scores from Rd 4, so the only rd that does not match is the REC in RD3.
I don't mind if i'm wrong here, I just want it explained. how can the scores from Rd2/4 match, but Rd3 not...
