Is it just me, or do the pDGA elections remind you of Iran too?

Iran? Oh I get it, like "I ran for office" Yes, in that respect I get it.

Are we going to have more votes than members too?
or is that just Iran and Minnesota?

Actually Bill, I was thinking more along the lines of the elections being meaningless because the real power is held by religious fanatics. You know, like the owner of a certain disc manufacturer who calls the shots with his big $$$. I'd say his name but the Basij militia might come after me.

When it comes to election entertainment and religious fanatics, personally I enjoy the Conspiracists Sect. If only we could get one of them to run for the board! THAT would liven up the election!

Well, we may be holding him here against his will, but nothing prevents him from running again. Oh, unless it's the Power-Behind-the-Board Puppetmaster. Presumably too late for this year, but maybe in the future? I, for one, can never get enough of this stuff.

"I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination."

I wonder, do you think the opposing candidates feel it's unfair for Felberg's image to be in the pDGA banner at the top of my browser right now? What's that concept, equal access to media coverage or something? Maybe the other candidates deserve to be in the pDGA banner.

Oh, silly me, I forgot, pDGA elections aren't about fairness or even political free speech! Just like Iran. Can't say what you want in a pDGA election if the mullahs don't agree.

Wow, that's three eerie similarities already. Hey, what company sponsors Feldberg again, I can't recall? You can call it coincidence if you want.

At least the PDGA's helping out those of us with lesser intellects. Much easier for me to vote for the face at the top of the webpage. I never could understand all those concepts in the candidates' statements, anyway.

Two questions for you Mike.

You are an intelligent guy - are you capable of posting anything that DOESN'T include an insult to SOMEONE? (Please don't misconstrue this as a defense of any particular person, it's not.)

Is there anything you DO like about the PDGA? If there is - it would be infinitely more interesting than trying to understand the true meaning behind your vague conspiracy rants.

My spoon is definitely as big as yours - so if all you're about is stirring the pot - I'm ok w/that. You are welcome to now attack me if you so desire - but truly - I'm just curious.

Funny, I just typed a long post about what I like about the pDGA, and then this dumb website timed me out and the post is now vaporized. Shame that with a million dollar budget we don't have much to show for it!

Ha ha, well as Chuck would say, only 30-40% of the pDGA budget is wasted and that's an acceptable margin of error for him and the pDGA. Is that positive enough? I feel we've made some progress here today, Craig. You really bring out the best in people.

Yeah, if the pDGA lets me say my peace for a little while I might get motivated to run another great pDGA event. I've still got a couple good kidneys I can sell to pay the pDGA tax.

What I have to offer is an example of staying true to one's beliefs, especially if those beliefs are freedom of speech and information, inexpensive pDGA membership, the right to tell jokes, and to educate through subliminal communication.

If you're going to make an argument, you should make sure your argument is based in reality. The fact that the conservatives in this country wanted to believe that the election in Iran was fixed, and the media supported and pushed that position, doesn't mean it was. Instead, as is typical of an undereducated, under informed, science illiterate public, Americans simply couldn't understand the results, so we assumed they were fixed.

http://www.slate.com/id/2220608/pagenum/2

And then we are amazed when Iran assumes we are meddling in their politics. BTW - this does nothing to diminish the overwhelmingly brutal response to the street protests and the fact that Ahmadinejad is whacked. But before we judge, let us remember our own past. It was only 40 years ago that we shot protesters at Kent state, and beat protesters in the street throughout the country. We still have ample footage of our cops beating people with whom they disagree despite being unprovoked. All of that 140 and even 200 years after we became a country, and Iran is having these problems 20 years after they took on their current political structure. Perception is an interesting thing.

Last but not least, a careful analysis of the structure of the the Iranian election process suggests it is one of the best in the world, if it is followed. All indications are that it was. We might not like the idea that Iranians like Ahmadinejad, but it is entirely possible that they do. Of course as the link above points out, there is still the possibility of fraud, but then there is ample evidence of fraud in our own elections, as analyzed by other countries, some including our allies.

All of this brings us back to the topic of this thread. As always, UPM is entertaining, but I suspect his position about fraud in our elections is as close to the truth as the FOX analysis of fraud in the Iranian election is...

BTW - there are a number of nice articles pointing out that by selecting certain types of candidates, and eliminating certain kinds of voters prior to the election, that Iran fixed the election without having to rig vote counts. This seems reasonably credible. Is UPM suggesting that the PDGA did the same? Did Brian H. drive out to the great state of LA, and beat UPM senseless so that he wouldn't run? Did the ruling council, I mean PDGA Board sift through the candidates, losing the nominations of candidates considered too extreme? Was my right to vote stripped from me because I am, by Pizza God's judgment, a communist? (keep in mind that Za thinks that anyone who thinks that government in any form should exist, is a communist). Possibly, but I think that's wrong. I think they use mind control, otherwise why wouldn't UPM and Steve Timm have won when they ran?

Personally, I think it is because Brain G. is a Sith Lord and uses the force to bend our weak minds. Now if only we had a Jedi to stand up to him, Oh Qui-Gon Jason, where are you when we need you? If only a young Padawan learner could stand up to this tyranny... Scooter? Alas, that faded religious order is no more....
