We are proud to be a qualifying event for both the United States Disc Golf Championship and The Vibram Open. We have 5 USDGC spots and 2 Vibram Open spots up for grabs. All divisions playing the same course, the same day, from the same tees as the Male Pro Open division are eligible for the spots.

What a great weekend this will be. The week after Worlds and the week before the Vibram Open.

This will be your last chance to get into the Vibram Open if you haven't qualified yet.

And you get to play Moraine State Park and Knob Hill. And rumors abound that this might be the last time that Knob Hill is used for the PFDO.

PLEASE DON'T MOVE THE PFDO FROM KNOB HILL!!!!!

I heard there will be crazy bad weather the weekend of the tournament, i don't think anyone should go(ok I just want a US spot REALLY badly)

That's the course we where discussing using next year for the 2010 PFDO. Let me emphasizes, "IT WAS JUST A DISCUSSION, NOTHING SET IN STONE" I do and don't agree with the change. Deer Lakes is pimp. But, the drive between Moraine and the DLDGC is too much. The only way to do it would be to completely split the Am and Pro fields. With the current PFDO setup, Ams play Moraine Sunday morning then drive 20-30 minutes to Knob Hill for the final 18. If we did the same thing with Deer Lakes, Ams would have to drive @ 1 hour between rounds. I think that's too much, especially considering the courses.

On the other hand, how great would it be to use the two best courses around in Pittsburgh's showcase tournament.

Just my two cents!

Registrations are starting to roll in. And from what I heard at Roscoes Revenge last weekend, it appears there will be a large group of top pros coming here after Wrolds and on there way to Vibram. So I suggest signing up early so you don't get shut out.

It's gonna be a good one.

If you are planning to attend Worlds and the Vibram Open, please consider playing the Pittsburgh Flying Disc Open on August 8-9. Pittsburgh is located approximately half-way between these two major events and players will get the opportunity to compete on two great courses.....Knob Hill and Moraine State Park.

Did I mention that this year's PFDO is a qualifier for both the USDGC and the Vibram Open? :)

I've had 18 registrations come in over the past two days. Even though this event isn't for another two and half weeks the deadline before the late fee is fast approaching.

Field is limited to 72 PROS and 72 AMS.

Did I mention 5 USDGC spots and 2 Vibram Open spots will be handed out???

I don't know...I never stayed at either. Here are their websites so you can compare the two. Both have been sponsors of the tournament and Moraine State Park's DGC for quite some time.

http://bearruncampground.com/

Both are within 10-15 minutes of Moraine. And probably 30-40 minutes from Knob Hill.

I'm desperately trying to make it to this event now, especially after missing qualifying for Vibram at Jersey Jam by one stroke...

Problem is I'm in Baltimore and have no car; was gonna ride up with Little Joe but looks like he can't make it now.

I'd take a train in cept the courses are too far away; is there anyone driving from the city out to the courses on either the morning of the 8th or night of the 7th (I can bring a tent etc)?

I know it's a very very long shot, but if anyone can help me make this happen, shoot me a PM or email (shanest AT jhu DOT edu) asap

What a finish today.

Round 4 started with Avery down by 7 strokes to Geoff Bennett. Avery took 2's on Hole 1,2,3 and 4. Jeff bogeyed Hole 1 after a roll away on his putt that hit the basket for 2. Avery had 5 strokes back after that. Then Geoff birdied hole 6 to get back to a 3 stroke lead. Hole 9, Avery missed a short par putt and took a 4 to Jeff's 3.

I did not see holes 12 -15 but by the time they got to hole 16, Avery was down by 2 strokes. Avery steps up to the tee on Hole 16 and drills the basket for an ACE!!!! Geoff takes a 3 and we are tied with 2 to play.

Hole 17 is a great sidearm hole to C-pin at Knob, and Avery's drive went too far right leaving him a 60+ foot putt. He takes his 3 and Bennett capitalizes on the sidearm hole with a 2. Hole 18, this is what it's all about. Bennett throws a nice drive to about 65 feet away. Avery crushes a drive and ends up just a little long. He nails the 2 and Geoff takes his 3. Playoff time.

They start on Hole 17, and both throw their drives too far. 3's for both. 18, Geoffs drive ends up short and to the right of the C-pin at Knob. tough lie. Avery crushes another drive past the pin about 50 away. Geoff goes for the layup. Disc hits an edge an teeter totters it's way out of bounds. Game over.

Avery wins, Bennett 2nd. Schultz 3rd, Schick 4th.

Val wins

Al Schack wins masters and Red Whittington Grandmasters.

Awesome weekend. And almost all of the final 18 lead card was filmed by me and will be posted for people to see shortly.

Chuck Kennedy, did you see those score on 15? :)

I've debated that one with Chuck a few times. I know it's downhill, but I just don't see how an 852' hole could be considered a gold level par 3. I'm sure the scoring average for 1000+ rated players on hole#15 is much closer to 4 than it is to 3.
