Alright folks!!!!

July 18th and 19th in beautiful Live Oak Park, Ingleside, Tx is the 7th stop on the Third Coast 12 Pack Series schedule.

SHULE SCHOOL!!!!!!

This is a PDGA Sanctioned B-Tier Tournament with $500 added cash!!!

At this point in time there is a very high probability that we will be using the Michael Olse newly designed 18 hole course. For those of you who think the original 18 is short and simple, then you are in for a huge suprise with this new course. It is a par 64...8 par fours, 1 par 5 and 9 par 3's. There is nothing nice to say about the difficulty of this new course. I've heard it be called, "another Manor," "a lot like the new Circle C, " and described as "most likely being the 3rd hardest course in Texas." There are concrete tees measuring 12' long, being 6' at the back and 4' at release point. There are brand new Discatcher Pro baskets and tee signs. Currently we are awaiting the city to clean out all of the debris we have cut out, and are planning one more work day to fine-tune the holes.

The old course will also be revamped with brand new Discatcher Pro Baskets.

If all goes well, we plan on having two pools. The "A" Pool (Pros and Adv), will be playing one round of 18 at the new course Saturday Morning, one round of 18 at the old course in the afternoon, and the final round on Sunday at the new course.

The "B" Pool (Int and Rec) will be playing one round at the old course Saturday morning, one round at the new course Saturday afternoon, and the final round on Sunday at the old course.

We will be updating you on the progress of the new course, and whether or not it will be able to be used.

$500 added cash
$145 carried over in the Ace pot to add to the funds
Great raffle prizes to benefit E.D.G.E.

Entry fees are as follows"

Pro - $75
Advanced - $55
Intermediate - $40
Rec - $30

$5 ace pot is optional

Sign ups are available on Titledisc.com. You can also register via 3rdcoastdiscgolf.com, or email me (Chris Craig) at [email protected]

There will be plenty of beer courtesy of our title sponsor, L&F Distributors, plenty of shade and lots of good times. Don't miss the opportunity to see first hand one of the newest, toughest courses in Texas!!!

I would call this course a par 32

1 par 5 and 2 par 4.

Is that a 28 or a 33?

It would be real interesting to see what people shoot out there. Me personally, being a mediocre Int player, my goal is to not take any 7's. I'm pretty sure it is going to blow a lot of people's minds, and definitely a lot of scores will blow up.

Think of it this way. Those in this tourney will be the first to play it, and someone has to be the one to set the course record.

We had a great crew cleaning the fairways last weekend and it looks challenging. Bring your a game when you come. This WILL BE the greatest shule school since we started. I can't wait. Thanks Olse, Tobster, the City of Ingleside and everyone else who made this happen! 3C Baby!

Any word from Olse on wether or not the new Ingleside course is the toughest in Texas?

seewhere
Jul 02 2009, 01:38 PM
he thinks it is. is this thing cart friendly?

krazyeye
Jul 02 2009, 01:57 PM
There might be two holes a cart would be tricky. What makes a course not cart friendly? This one has no fences or cabels or curbs. Fairways are clear.

Are there any creeks or other objects that we won't be able to push a 3 wheeler through? From what I can remember of that property its almost completely flat right with tons of SCHULE.

krazyeye
Jul 02 2009, 04:29 PM
There is a drainage canal but it is a sandy slope so should not be too difficult.

It's OFFICIAL!!! The new course will be used for Shule School '09.

There will be a grand opening ceremony with the City of Ingleside on Friday, July 17th at 2:00 p.m.

There will be doubles happening at the new course. Flex start from 3-5:30. $40 per pro team, $20 per am team. Both divisions paying out CASH!!!

Please keep in mind that this is a brand new course cut out of a thick mess, so although it is finished and playable, it will probably take a few years of foot traffic to really get worn in and friendlier.

a thick mess

Hit the fairway or bring lots of band-aids.

Jackie and I played on the 3rd. Front nine took us about one hour 45 minutes just the two of us.
My Take.
1. Lucky to get a five
2. Duece
3. Lucky to get a five
4. Easy 3
5. Easy 3
6. Possible 3
7. Doable 4
8. Possible 3
9. Possible 4

She was in the shule once I was in the shule bad on 9. Keep it straight and in the fairway and it isn't too bad.

I second what Geoff says about bandaids. This is the sharpest shule I have ever seen. The fairways are very fair though so stay in them.

For who ever is doing sign ups Jackie and I both want to play advanced.

Jul 06 2009, 09:29 PM
Seewhere and Rene,

It is "semi" 3 wheel cart friendly! Most of the fairways are mulch mixed with soft sand. Pulling a two wheeler is much easier than pushing, though. It is a bit rough. I had no problems with my pull cart today.
It's a lot like Wilco...with sand!! Lots of TREES!! Stay in the fairways and you'll be O.K. Shank a shot and it will not be good. I would suggest hiking boots and a large box of bandaids.

Jul 07 2009, 11:13 AM
I'm bringing my bag just to be on the safe side and from what I keep reading a big box of bandaids.

i vote for L.O.L. (live oak long) it is at live oak park right?

geomy
Jul 11 2009, 12:35 PM
Hole 3 plays longer than 585...it might be 585 from tee to basket, but the fairway doesn't allow for a straight throw...I dunno, maybe I was tired or the heat was getting to me?

Gabe suggested "Junior High" and "High School" for the courses, in keeping with the Shule School theme. I don't care particularly, I just want to play them.

Reports from the post work day round appreciated!

Tobster says that the new course is Live Oak Gold. The old course is Live Oak Red. it fits.

Jackie and I have been playing doubles just to make it through the course. I'd say we can get down to 59 but that is pushing it.

Open winner will have a best round of 49 or better.

Are tee-signs installed yet? Both courses are getting the treatment, right?

I plan on signing up during doubles, doubt I'll make the grand opening though.

redsealking
Jul 14 2009, 12:37 AM
We will be using temporary signs for now. The permanent ones won't quite be ready in time. Both courses are getting the treatment, however, the original course will remain unchanged for this tourney due to time constraints.

Actually played the course today, shot 80. As an intermediate player, I figure my score could have been 5-6 shots better, but definitely the course has the potential of having me shoot much worse. Gotta hit the fairways and dodge trees while in the process. The course is definitely looking good and fully playable. There are a few areas in need of some minor work, we'll see what gets finished prior to tee time.

Sorry everyone - I typed an elaborate summary of the course and this event last night but was unable to send to this discussion board (I timed out?). My message was lost in cyberspace, I guess. Before this happens again, I want to say that the course is very playable but ugly if you don't stay in the fairway. Bring appropriate clothing and insect repellant, even if you don't use it. Camping is available at no charge, but I need to know by noon tomorrow (Friday). If you have any questions, you can call me @ 361 523-9567.
