I want to know what the general concensus is about jump putting. Let me start by saying that inside the circle, you should remain behind your mark until the disc comes to rest. I look at it like a free throw in basketball.

But what about outside the circle?

Why are jump putts illegal? Does it give an unfair advantage? Everybody can jump right. Is it because it would be a judgement call whether the disc was released before the player hit the ground? Its already a judgement call. I think it would be an easier call. When I see somebody jump putt, it is almost impossible to tell if the disc was released prior to take off. But when a player lands, the little jolt they get from landing is the tell tale if the disc was released. Again comparing to basketball, like a three point shot, as long as you start behind the line. You should be able to jump.

I am not a jump putter, but I see alot of it going on. It seems the rules are restricting a type of shot.

I just wanted to see if there are others who feel this way.

The aren't are they? Outside 10m you can do cartwheels as long as you can make a legel throw.

The disc has to be released before the player LEAVES the ground. If you see someone jump in the air and then release the disc, call them on it :)

That is not what the rule says. The action/fate of the disc has nothing to do with defining a falling putt.

That's right. Another non-rule rule rears its ugly head once again.
