Halton,

Can you tell us about this year's lay out? Unfortunately I haven't played the course since last year. I have heard of numerous changes. Also will there be an 2 additional holes again?

Thanks!

I am also curious of the layout. I've emailed separately (while waiting on my forum account to be activated).

I went out and played the course this weekend and I must say I noticed a few differences. The most obvious is on hole 3, it seems another basket (From hole 6 I believe) is now at the edge of the lake.

I was curious what the layout will be for the tourney. My initial thought was that you ran a 20 hole course last year, and the basket move may be for that (But going through my math that extra basket only gives you 1 extra hole, if you assume that hole 4 changes to tee from the Beast tee towards the other basket that is typically used for hole 3.

I also noticed that on hole 7 (The short one that runs by the parking lot, towards the creek, right before you go back into the wooded area). That it seems there is a spot dug out for a tee box that would be longer set than the concrete.

Either way - just wanted to centralize the post, and to say that I'm looking forward to the tourney - my first in Chapel Hill.

We have added temp #19 and 20 in the old part of the course(new pavilion and low ropes course area) for the past several years and will prob do same this year. There are 2 baskets for hole #3 right now, we used the bottom right one last year, but may use the new one on the dam this year if we can. The course will be close to last year but is not finalized yet. I'll post to the PDGA discussion board as soon as it is finalized. I will to have all permanent baskets in tourney position by June 1, and hopefully by next week. The baskets for #19 and 20 usually go in a couple days before the tourney, as they are not permanent. However, I will have the tees and basket positions flagged for those who want to get a feel for it.
One thing is for certain, there will be much less roped OB.

Thanks so much for your interest and stay tuned!

So I was out at UNC a few hours ago getting some practice in and I have to say the course is looking great.

The new tee position on 8 is great, I dig the anny style shot. Hole 9 is going to look great with the new tee pad there as well. I saw the form over by the new bridge, and saw a spot that looked like it was marked for a new pad. That will be a very fun "S" style shot, and pretty tight to boot!

I just noticed you said the course for the tourney will be finalized this weekend, I was curious if you have marked the extra two tee's yet, I looked today for about 30 minutes and saw nothing marked. Just curious if I missed it.

Will the awards ceremony follow the Zip Golf on Sunday?

We will get the 2nd round of zip golf started as soon as the pro groups finish their final rounds on holes 3 and 4, around 4pm. Once all golf scores are totaled and everything is finalized, we'll begin the awards ceremony. Zip golf will continue during the awards ceremony, until 7pm or we run everyone through. The awards for zip golf will be given out at the after party at THE LIBRARY at 8pm.

Registrations for zip golf are starting to roll in, register now to reserve the time slot that you want on Saturday or Sunday!

And yes, if folks want to ride the zipline with their video camera instead of throwing discs, that can be arranged. The same $10 fee and reservation applies, (we are not responsible for camera damage :D )

Description
Climbing the tower, can bring out the nerves. Then step off your stoop and enjoy the ride. Don't forget you have to throw your discs as you spin out of control. Was definately worth it.

Thanks Halton, UNC, all that helped get the course ready, and all sponsors. Played with some old friends and made some new ones, only thing I would change was my score.

I enjoyed the day I played outside of the dizziness and urge to throw up. :)
For next year I would either give more time after the players meeting or stress more on being able to drive to the middle holes for the people who haven't played the course before. I literally started walking right after the players meeting and got to my hole after the 2 minute warning and wasn't too exited about not being able to get some putting or rest in.
