The PDGA Discussion Board will be down for a large portion of Tuesday April 28th as we migrate the old discussion board to the new website. We will also be switching software from ubb.threads 6.5.5. to vBulletin. This conversion will also allow users to have a single login / authentication for the entire website and users will see increased functionality including blogs, and the ability to upload photos and videos in the months ahead.

We have done extensive testing on the new board thanks to the hard work of our many beta testers. It is inevitable that we will have some minor configuration adjustments over the next several weeks but feel that users will be enjoy the new features along with a peformance increase the new software will offer.

If you are having issues please contact IT Lead David Gentry via email at dgentry@pdga.com.

Please note that despite efforts to beta test the software, there will surely be minor adjustments needed during the initial transition period. We also ask for your patience as message board users, moderators, and administrators get used to the new message board software. However, in the end we hope that you appreciate the new features and performance which vBulletin offers.

A couple of items noticed:
- Jeff_LaG has an avatar, but the rest of us can't set one. (fixed)
- Favorite Forums toggle is gone. I don't want to have to scroll past the list of a gazillion Club forums to find the one or two I'm interested in.
- [quote ][ /quote] UBB Quote codes aren't working. (fixed)
- It now takes two clicks to get to the latest unread post in a thread. It used to take one. (fixed: the down arrow goes to the latest unread post)
- The preview pane doesn't look like my post at all when using bullets. (I'm using the WYSIWYG editor). Edit: The bullets didn't show up the post either. Switching to manual.
- Saving some items in the UserCP gets an error about not finding a security token. The UserCP becomes unusable.

Email sent to dgentry.

When you find an issue with the existing board please let us know about it so that we can make the necessary corrections. The easiest way to contact us is to send an email directly to boardconversion@pdga.com. You can also post a message here (http://www.pdga.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=31607) to inform other users of these issues and to discuss the issue but an email is the preferred method of communication.

Please note that despite efforts to beta test the software, there will surely be minor adjustments needed during the initial transition period. We also ask for your patience as message board users, moderators, and administrators get used to the new message board software.

Please relax, Cent, and read the above messages.

That's also your login too...The PDGA doesn't see the issue with displaying our logins. Gentry says 90% of the message board users are cool with changing our display names to our logins. We should have our passwords displayed as our location too.

I'm really surprised that 90% of the users have contacted Dave already.
What percentage of users had a different username than login?
Yesterday I contacted a moderator who passed along my request to someone else who may be able to help. I'll pass along the pertinent info when I hear back.
Thanks to everyone working on this update. I see the 'Quotes' are already displayed more clearly than yesterday.

.

There is a 'Subscribe to this forum' option under Forum Tools, and a 'Subscribed Threads' link in the Quick Links dropdown.

Took some exploring to discover and it is different than before but it works fine for me.

I now see there is a similar option under Thread Tools

Same thing happens under Quick Links if you click on Control Panel, but you can get in if you click on 'Edit Signature' or 'Edit Details'

Back button just redirects to the same error page.

NEW DISCUSSION BOARD Q&A:

Q: What's with the "Security token issue with the UserCP?"

A: It turns out that this is a known small bug in the software that pops up every now and again and should be fixed in the next release of vBulletin. Use this url to get to the UserCP without hitting the error page:

http://www.pdga.com/discussion/profile.php?do=editprofile (http://www.pdga.com/discussion/profi...do=editprofile)

Q: Why can't I change my login name? I want a different display name from my login name.

A: We have added a custom profile field called "Display Name" which will supersede their login name if it is filled in.

Q: Why aren't graemlins working from previous board?

A: Graemlins and smilies have been moved over and should now be shown.

Q: Why isn't home (www.pdga.com (http://www.pdga.com/)) working from the discussion board?

A: That was fixed as of this morning.

Q: Why were users not able to upload or change avatars?

A: This was a small config issue that was tracked down and fixed.

Q: Now that avatars are enabled, why do some avatars appear enormously big? In the user control panel, it says that avatars must be a maximum size of 80 X 80 pixels or 19.5 KB, whichever is smaller. Some avatars are clearly over that.

A: The restrictions are in place now, however if avatars from the old message board were ported in, they can get around the restriction limits until the user edits their avatar.

We will allow a grace period for users to comply with the new restrictions. However, at some later point TBD, we will begin removing old avatars that do not meet the current standards.

If you go to the User CP and click 'Edit your details', there is a new field called 'Display Name' under 'Additional Information'. This is what will be used for display across the forum. We've brought in all the old display names from the old forum and we're working to make sure that we have that properly replaced in all the locations across the new templates.

Ok, maybe I'm missing something, but this is driving me mad.

All I want right now is to show the threads in the order of those with newest posts first... like how the old board was.

So I click the Date of last post column and it obliges.

Then, after I read a message and click "back" or click any of the other ways to get back to the listing, it goes back to listing the posts oldest first.

There doesn't seem to be a CP setting to chose this setting, and that it isn't sticky makes it really annoying to read anything.

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

FYI, the administrators were contacted yesterday afternoon about
this. It appears that threads are still being sorted alphabetically
(instead of by date) in some forums, which brings up very old threads.
I expect them to get this issue fixed in due time.

It will probably end up costing much more than that once everything is finished. There were no formal RFQ's sent, Theo "found" a company that said they would do it for $75,000. It wouldn't surprise me if this is one of the ways they could launder the profits, to stay "non-profit". I would be interested to find out if there is some kind of direct, or indirect connection between the pDGA and this "company". You can find more information here (http://www.pdga.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=28707) see post #19 specifically.

Seriously, Cent?

Moderators have absolutely nothing to do with board settings, and do you think the administrators deliberately turned off that feature just to thwart message board users? I'm almost 100% positive that this is simply an artifact of the board conversion, which a simple e-mail to the administrator could easily fix in a jiffy.

When you find an issue with the existing board please let us know about it so that we can make the necessary corrections. The easiest way to contact us is to send an email directly to boardconversion@pdga.com (boardconversion@pdga.com).
