Thanks again to all those who came out this weekend to volunteer. The Lodge is really starting to look NT ready. We got about 3 inches of rain today. With some warm days this week the trees should really bloom and the grass is already coming on. In a couple of weeks this place is going to look great. Thanks again to all our loyal supporters who are too numerous to mention but just know we really, really appreciate all you do. :D

I bet all of our burn piles have washed away! I love the smash it and burn it policy... too bad we can't apply that to other areas of life! Imagine, you could redo your front yard once a week!

JT,
I would be so nice to be a able to disappear for a day or 2 sometimes. Worked on our new course today. I am still recovering and cannot play the NT weekend, but I could and definitely would disappear to your property to work on course(s) if I lived anywhere near. I will definitely be watching on the computer in a couple of weeks.
There are defintely STL forks headed to the lodge for the NT.
Peace,
Ron and Karen

Once again, The Lodge was the site of some of the best dang people around, a bunch of disc golfers giving very selflessly of themselves to help us get the place NT ready. Once again I am humbled by the friendship and fellowship we have experienced from these gracious volunteers. I am getting some ideas on how to do something to reward these individuals. Look for future posting on some of these ideas. Thanks again, everyone who helped.

WOW :DWhat a weekend.:cool: Congratulations to Joe "Mister Twisted" Rotan and Michael Treat for a great run event. I think everyone had a great time, the event ran very smoothly and it was really nice to see all of your efforts so deeply appreciated and richly rewarded. I heard nothing but compliments on your performance. Again, congratulations on a smooth, successful tourney.
Congratulations to all the winners and, Welcome to Oklahoma, "Where the wind comes whistling across the plains". Kansas has the Glass Blown Open, we have the WIND BLOWN OPEN. We had a great time this weekend. When Deb and I decided to try to do something with young people a few years back and ultimately met Kevin McCoy, we had no idea how big, or great this sport is. We are so impressed with the respect, courtesy and politeness of this entire family of disc golfers and so proud that we are now a part of this community.
Thanks to all the wonderful volunteers who came out and gave of their time, experience and skills to make this venue what it is. This is what impressed us so much in the beginning, the unselfish and giving attitude of the players.
Thanks again to Kevin McCoy for giving us the course designs and literally bringing disc golf to Pawhuska, Oklahoma. We had so much fun meeting and visiting with new friends this past week, we love you all and can't wait to have everyone back. And, last but certainly not least, a big thank you to Brian Graham and Dr. John Duesler for taking time out of their busy schedules to come to Oklahoma and the Green Country Open.:cool:We were honored by your presence.
Thank you. Jim, Deb, Jeremy, Lindsey & Leah.

This saturday, September 19th, we have some kids coming up from tulsa to experience the great sport of disc golf. Youth groups from Victory Christian, Asbury Methodist and another Baptist church will bring some of their youth to Pawhuska for some events. One of the stops they have scheduled is The Lodge to play some disc golf. Cyndi Kane, Judge Kane's wife, has been one of our biggest supporters and she has arranged this trip for the groups. If anyone has the time and would be willing to come up and teach these groups the fundamentals of disc golf, we certainly would appreciate it. I would ask Jeremy to do it but he has a big gig catering for a film crew that is in town filming a special at one of the big Osage county ranches all weekend.
Thanks,
JT

One thing about living way out in the deep Georgia pines, you never know what your gonna see. Hogzilla the gigantic wild pig that was over 800 pounds was killed just 25 minutes from my house. While I was away at Lake Russell playing the GSSS finale this past weekend, Courtney caught this on tape at my course at the house. Is it the legendary Skunk Ape?

Here in the South the Sasquatch, Yeti, Bigfoot is commonly referred to as the Skunk Ape or Stink Ape. There are some very strange creatures deep in the Georgia Pines and Swamps. We were just lucky enough to capture it on video. ;)

We really don't designate any specific camping areas. Most people ususally set up between the clubhouse and our house. However, if you are inclined to look for some remote campsite where you could be off to yourself, we have you covered. I mow several areas that are within walking distance to our house and if you want even more remote than that, I mow a couple of areas that are nearly a mile from the clubhouse, but the woods and the atmosphere makes it worth the effort. We do allow campfires but I would appreciate your cooperation in not digging holes in the normal camp area because we really strive to keep the lawns mowed nice and the holes don't grass back over too quickly. We have some burn barrels that you can stack on cement blocks. As for firewood, if you don't mind gathering it yourself, we have quite a few downed trees all over the ranch so anywhere you camp you would have access to dead wood. I will have some prepared wood at the clubhouse for the bonfire.

I went out to the lodge a couple of days ago, and the courses are looking nice. Lines are opening up, leaves are falling, birdies are still there even though it is close to migration season. I did lose a couple of Xcalibers. First one on hole 6 in the water next to the basket and the second off the tee on 13. I hit early trees before the bend. If you could keep an eye out for these if you play out there, that'd be neat.
I am getting excite about the team event. I love playing out at the lodge, regardless of event.

Just spent several days at the comfort suites in Addison, Texas. This hotel is under new management and everyone was very accommodating and pleasant. During our stay the spa was out of service but the hotel does have an indoor heated pool. For absolute value and hospitality, this was a pleasant surprise. You get a hot breakfast, clean rooms, friendly service and a very accommodating staff for a very reasonable price. I was there on business and needed some help with some typing and computer work. I asked Cala, the hotel manager, if she could help me find someone to help me with my work, thirty minutes later she had me the help and we got the work done right at the hotel in a conference room. If you have need of an overnight, or week or more, stay in the North Dallas area, for the biggest bang for your buck, I highly recommend you stay with these kind people. 4555 Beltline Rd. but not right on Beltline, behind a restaurant. You can come in off Arapaho very conveniently.
