Ok after having Adam and myself check the code on the cedarock site, we can't figure out why it won't work. We are transferring our online registration to the PDGA online registration. I am filling everything out right now and Karolyn Garlock says everything should be up and running in a day or two. Sorry for any inconvenience.

do you know the pay out scale that will be used this year?

Rodney Gilmore
Apr 15 2009, 03:43 PM
We will be using the 45% scale for ams and 40% table for pros.

Rodney Gilmore
Apr 21 2009, 10:19 PM
First I would like to apologize for not having online registration up yet. We couldn't get our paypal to work through our club site so we have switched to PDGA online registration. Now we're just waiting on them to get it up and running for us.

What I can tell you for sure is that we have several sponsors contributing to the added cash. We will have the grill offering burgers, dogs, and chicken sandwiches for lunch both days. We also have Brewballs Bar hosting the players party Saturday night where there will be live music, drink specials, and a putting contest.

Our player's packages this year will be a custom stamped KC Roc for every am and the payout will be in scrip with the ACE Club store open after awards with plenty of custom stamped San Marino Rocs and Star Bosses available along with plenty of stock plastic to chose from.

Rodney Gilmore
Apr 28 2009, 12:36 AM
20 so far. Our club secretary, Susan, will be at the gazebo near hole 1 most of the day Friday. She will taking registrations and selling CFR's if we have any left. We usually have a late rush on registrations since we have room for 180 people. Please try to register before Saturday morning if at all possible though. It makes it so much easier on tourney staff and we really do appreciate it.

I was just wondering if there is any added cash for the pro's?

Rodney Gilmore
Apr 30 2009, 05:21 PM
Yeah, definitely. We are required to make our $500 minimum and we will. Heck we made our $500 minimum last year when we only had 10 pros. We've even had enough sponsorship that we already have $300 added to the am field with more coming to be determined based on profit from the basket toss and grill.

Rodney,
thanks for all the information. but $500 added is $500 added it makes no difference wether there are 4 open players or 400 open players

Rodney Gilmore
Apr 30 2009, 05:51 PM
True, but $500 split between 4 cashing spots is a lot better if you are one of them than $500 slpit between 10 or 20 cashing spots. At least Schwebby, Brian Mcree, Mike Jo, and Patrick Wilson thought so last year. The guy that took 5th... well he probably didn't care either way.

I've played numerous PDGA tournaments in Burlington since 2001. I can honestly say that this years Alamance Pro/Am was easily the smoothest run event I've ever attended there. From the get go you knew where you were playing. There was quick turn around times at lunch, after the final round and into the awards. We left the course yesterday at 4:30. Today was the same. 4:30 I was on the road after the award ceremony. Scores were posted at a decent time. Everything you needed to know was posted at tournament central. And even the food line at the grill tent was smooth and quick.

Far to often we dish out criticism, especially on message boards. Granted there are times when it is deserving. We are also more hesitant to compliment when things go according to plan.

With that being said. I applaud the job that Rodney and his staff did at this years event. The courses were in fantastic shape, the event ran smoothly, the payouts were more than generous and the general attitude of everyone i spoke with was positive and upbeat. Rodney you've come along way as a tournament director. It is a learning process and you've made incredible strides in your short time doing it. To anyone that's out there that decided against the event based on what's happened in the past, quite simply you missed out.

I look forward to returning in the fall for Sneaky pete.

I have to ditto everything Rick said about how smooth the tourney was run. Thanks Rodney and staff for a great weekend. It is easy to gripe about a tourney if you never run one. I'm glad we have a place to compete. We play for plastic...but we play for pride and comraderie. To the guys I played with, I thoroughly enjoyed the company and competition. Great group of old guys in the advanced masters.
Rick...Hats off to ya. You took the lead out of the gate and held on. Nice shooting. Keep looking in your rearview.....I'm coming. :)

Again, thanks ACE club for a great weekend.

Oh yea...worst part of the weekend.....Having my brother shoot a 46 in the last round to beat me by one!!! Nice shooting Barry.

I second those remarks made by Rick.

For the past few years, Burlington was starting to get a reputation that they didn't know how to run a smooth tourny and I think that it hurt this years number for the Pro/Am.

However, as Rick stated before, this was the best Burlington tourny that I have ever been to. The player's meeting was short and to the point. There was a sheet that layed out all of the OB and all OB was strung off where it was needed. The only thing that could have been added to the sheet was who was playing where and when but that is impossible when you don't know how many of each level are coming.

Another compliment I heard this weekend was the fact that you could buy a nicely done lunch each day. Whomever was in charge of that deserves a lot of thanks. I didn't partake in this lunch but that was due to lack of extra money since I decided to play up and had to pay an extra 15 dollars.

I really enjoyed this weekend. Even though I felt miserable before the tourny started due to a sinus infection, all of my groups were great. That is honestly the first time I could say that in a long time.

I will definitely be back for Sneeky Pete in the fall.

Thanks guys. I can't take all the credit though. I had a good staff behind me.

Now off to finish the TD report and get it sent off. I'm taking about 2 or 3 weeks off from tourney mode then we'll start planning the Sneeky Pete. Look for it to hit the schedule by the end of June. Thanks to everyone that came out.

I just wanted to throw in my .02 here. I've only played in a few tourney's thus far, but Rodney's definately seemed to be up there. I've not experienced a 'bad' tourney yet, but to be fair Rodney's exceeded my expectations.

I'll definately be back to Burlington next year to play this one again (and any others that he has)!
