I was told no paint lines.
Just normal "completely surrounded" Water hazards.

We will not be using the marked OB...that course will punish enough as is

I wish the creeks where full...then paint not would be even a thought.....natural OB is the best...some day Manor will be the hardest course in the state....rain rain rain

Please do not create fake OB. Just play the course as it is playing. Fake OB is dumb. If there is water then it is OB, if there's not, they there isn't. I think the majority of players agree with me. The course plays slow and hard enough as it is, the last thing we need is players walking up to every basket to check on the OB lines. Instead of concentrating your efforts on creating OB lines just do rain dances.

The "Fake OB" as you put it was really nothing more than "How the course was supposed to be in the eyes of the designer." There was nothin hokey; and I caught my share of OB during doubles.
Did you even play the tourney? Sure, I heard people moan about it, maybe it was actually "most people" as you say, but most people are weak and refuse to take ownership for their mistakes. Golfers are generally whiners; let's embrace that.
Mitch, I wasn't trying to start anything; it was mainly aimed at Lala, letting her know that I appreciated her effort to challenge, rather than coddle people. Manor will play just fine without the lines, and then you don't have to hear people whine on top of that.

Couple of points here ...
1 - The "course designer" should have taken into consideration that the course is in Texas and Texas often goes long periods without water, thus many courses have water some times and do not have water most of the time.
2 - Yes I played the tourney last year.
3 - I don't whine.
4 - If one of my shots goes OB it is never my fault but always the fake OBs fault.
5 - Manor is one of the 10 best courses in Texas!

What is fake OB?

Apr 17 2009, 12:11 PM
where you put paint or rope in creek beds to simulate water
JerryChesterson

What is fake OB?
OB that doesn't really exist but is just marked for the sake of generating OB. Like painting lines where water is "supposed" to be or painting lines just to make a hole harder ... see also fake island holes.

Maybe we could make a Texas hole out of Hole 8 - if you don't land on the bridge (which will be dremeled into the shape of Texas) you re-tee.

Just wanted to put my 2 pennies out there about OB at Manor..sounded like a fun little debate. I played Manor a few days ago(using the OB lines) and I loved it. I would call for using the OB lines yet it would be brutal with back ups and those who haven't played the course would be miserable(and yes I agree one should play a course or at least walk the course prior to tournement play). I say play it natural(with the rain we are getting maybe we will have 'real' OB) for now, but start using OB on a few(or even just one 'fake' OB hole for fun) staple holes as the course gets broken in.
Actually kinda cool to think you can play it dry, as it usually is in Texas, or make the course play as though it has had rain without loosing discs(good idea?). I can see it now..."Play the hardest, roughest, toughest course in Texas with more OBs than you've ever seen. We start early and end late..and we redefine 'hurry and wait'. If your mom sais no you may want to sneak out for this one...no #@%*(scarred is the word that goes here of course) disc golfers allowed."
Anyway, that was fun. Sorry I'm so late jumping in on the dialouge.
And by the way I refer to OB as Onerous Burden.
Anyone down for some golf this Sunday in Manor?
We could put together a little Mad Manor Mini ...maybe there is one already and I haven't heard yet. Let me know.
With 3 over being the course record, I don't think you need to add a bunch of OB's. Some of the so called fake ob's are challenging putts from way down in a ravine!

does anyone have directions to the course?
You will also have to give directions to the hole where player's meeting is.....1 or 12?

Are the directions good enough that are on the directory?
would hate to driving all over Texas trying to find this place.

Google brings up a good map
The directions in the course directory are good enough to get there
We will not be using the "fake" OB at Manor
I would personal like to see the course played with full creeks or all of them marked with OB...But last year we had cards of 4 playing 5 hour rounds with 15 minute lunches and no shuffle...I am also thinking about using both shorts and longs for the Pro's

agreed, the course looks great. the rains and subsequent mowing have done wonders but just wait till you see circle c!! it has all manor has to offer and more (beside rock), :( it's almost ready and it's going to raise the bar. the new par 4 holes are perfect additions. olse out did himself on this one.
