It's that time again! Come see us April 25-26 in Rockwall, TX at the awesome Harry Myers disc golf course.
The TitleDISC Open has moved up a few weeks to lower the heat, limit the chigger effect, and maximize the disc golf! We'll be playing the 20-hole layout at Harry Myers Park in Rockwall, TX, including the now-infamous island hole :).
This event sold out two weeks in advance last year, so don't get left in the dust again this year! As usual, we will have Flex-start doubles all day on Saturday, with the B-tier to follow on Sunday. Two rounds of 20 holes. Max of 100 players. Get signed up today! We will also be able to take registrations this weekend at the Squite Shoot, so if you want to pay in person, that will be a really good opportunity to get it knocked out. Of course, we have online registration available, too:

See you all in Rockwall :)

it's been scheduled for a very long time... this is just the first announcement. I worked this date out with our state coordinator late last year. I do believe I had the date before anything was put on the calendar for Manor. Really, the manor events were scheduled on top of this one. Plus, they're almost 4 hours apart.

Just under 4 weeks away!
We already have 6 players signed up - I expect the other 94 spots to fill very quickly :). We are also looking for more sponsorship, so please let us know if you or your business would like to be a part of this fantastic event in Rockwall. We have a new b-tier sponsorship structure! Sponsorship levels are as follows:
All sponsors of any level are mentioned in the program
$75 per hole, max of four per sponsor.
$150 tee-shirt sponsor (includes 2 holes)
$250 tee-shirt plus banner up to 6' hung at HQ (includes 3 holes)
$400 tee-shirt plus banner over 6' hung at HQ (includes 4 holes)
$500 Featured sponsor. Includes top-billing on tee-shirt and in program, 4 holes, over 6' banner or two banners up to 6' each. If received at least 40 days prior to the tournament, it will also include custom minis, to be given away in each player pack.
$1000 Title Sponsor (not available for Rockwall) This must be received at least 60 days prior to the tournament and includes all of the "featured" sponsorship benefits, but also re-names the tournament to include the sponsor name. Only one sponsor per event can hold this spot. All tournament t-shirts and custom-stamped discs will bear the title of the event, and thus the sponsor's name. Two banners of any size can be hung at tournament HQ.
All money raised goes right back into the tournament, to make it an even bigger and better event! We will also have CFR Destroyers and TeeRex-X discs available for $25 each, with the tournament stamp on them. All Ams will get a players pack including a tournament t-shirt and a mini. Pros are playing for at least $250 of added cash
The second TitleDISC Open is going to be even bigger better, and cooler than the 1st one. Come be a part of it :)

I know its nice!
Now I can play Manor on Saturday then head up the to beautiful town of Rockwall, Texas.
Thaks BaldGuy for making this event a one day B-Tier event.

Thanks, D. I still hold that the Manor event was scheduled "on top" of this one, not the other way around... but honestly, I don't mind it. Austin and Dallas are pretty far apart. I don't think there will be a problem filling both events. We have to start to realize that Disc Golf is growing by leaps and bounds. There are enough players to fill 4-5 events per weekend in Texas, especially if they are properly distributed. Having multiple choices is *not* a bad thing.
Anyway, we already have 9 players registered! We are ordering new TitleDISC gear for this event, too. Towels, t-shirts, dryfits, etc. We also still have lots of hats in all the cool styles we've offered in the past plus a couple new ones. Of course we will also have 800+ discs to choose from :)
By the way, we will be using the West pavilion this year. It's more central to the course and has a bigger parking lot. It's just past the basket for Hole 1 and should shorten the walk for several cards.
Get signed up soon! No more than 30 players per division, so that every division has a chance to grow. We can only hold 100 total. I can't wait!

BTW...The HOTT series was scheduled before most events where put on the calender...The weekend was open when we scheduled that one(unless you finished your schedule by November 1st)...But we also knew that most of our events would go up against events in Dallas and or Houston...We had long standing weekends changed by the PDGA to protect "A" tiers and World Dubs...The 11th Red Rock Show had to go up against a Houston event and Z-Boaz in Dallas

The weekend was open (according to LSDGA) when I scheduled this, too. I'm not sure of the exact date, but I think it was october/november. Either way, I think both events will be successful. Manor is a great course, as is Harry Myers. Hopefully some players will be able to hit both and if not, it's nice to know that there is a quality tournament on a quality course happening in each of our areas. The only reason I don't like sharing the weekend is that I would have liked to play Manor :)

There will be at least two events on most weekends in Texas. We had over 80 sanctioned events last year and likely will have more this year.
Both events were scheduled around the same time, the distance between them for one-day, one-course events is appropriate. So technically one was not scheduled on top of the other. Both TDs worked with me and adjusted some of their dates at my request, any scheduling conflicts you don't like are probably my fault. Complain to me and if the TDs feel there was a real conflict, I'll try to adjust the dates next year.
There aren't many free weekends in DFW or Austin now so there is really very little flexibility for avoiding conflicts.

I'm okay with the scheduling. I can only hold 100 players, and I'm sure the Manor event is under similar restrictions.
We have 11 players now. Keep those registrations rolling in!

Eric,
I went out to Mtn Creek Park for the first time yesterday. I found all 9 baskets, but didn't have a clue about where the tees might have been. I hooked up with another guy wandering around just like I was. Do you know if this course gets much regular play?
baldguy
Apr 06 2009, 10:48 AM
We're not playing mountain creek for this tournament ;)
I don't think we'll have a raffle this time, it wasn't very successful last year. Hopefully we will go to a 2-day, 2-course tournament next year and a raffle will make more sense. This year I'll just beef up the ring of fire :)
Up to 15 players over the weekend - just under 3 weeks left!

Apr 14 2009, 11:01 AM
We're up to 31 players now. We also have CFR Teerex-X and Destroyers in stock!
Don't get left out of this one... under 70 spots remain, and we're still almost 2 weeks away. As usual, we will sell any remaining spots on Saturday, but the players list is set as of Saturday night.
See you in Rockwall :)

Tournament discs are in! We have CFR TeeRex-X and CFR Destroyers for sale, to help raise funds for the tournament. We also have the first-ever Custom-stamped Champion Grooves! We aren't doing t-shirts this year, so the grooves, along with Champion TLs, Champion Roadrunners, and San Marino Rocs will all be available for players packs on Sunday, along with a tournament-stamped mini. Any leftovers from that stack will be available in payout :)
Of course, we're bringing our huge stash of Innova, Discraft, Millennium, and Gateway discs along with some new embroidered golf towels, embroidered dry-fit polo shirts, and some new printed dry-fit and regular teeshirts! Plenty of hats, visors, bags, and straps to help round it all out. There will be no shortage of cool gear :D
It's not too late to sponsor this event! We are still looking for teesign and banner sponsors. With 100+ in attendance, this will be a great way to get your company's name in front of a captive audience. We accept cash or merchandise and every dollar or item goes right back into the event. I am guaranteeing $500 of added cash for the pro divisions. All sponsorship money, including CFR sales will only add to that pile of money!
Oh yeah, we have about 35 players pre-registered now, too - with at least a dozen or so more verbal commitments. No time to waste - get signed up ASAP!

Back to tournament talk - we already have 47 players signed up. That's almost half full... don't get left out! $500 added cash plus players packs for all ams. A special surprise for 1st place in each division - *on top of* the payout!

54 players now. the number keeps climbing... once again, 10 spots guaranteed for Open. I know of several Open players who are planning to sign up this week. CFRs will be first come, first served on Saturday. Champion Destroyers and TeeRex-X - $25 each with a discount for larger quantities. Get em while they're hot :)

75 players!
I'm going to let Rec take up to 4 more players, since it looks like the 1 junior boy will need to move up and play Rec. that means the cap is 29. Advanced is currently at 20 players, so we can take 5 more there. Intermediate has the most room but the overall cap is 100, so there might not be as much room as you think :)
There's a slight chance of rain this weekend - let's hope it holds off. Even if we do get some, it shouldn't be much. We play in everything but lightning... The good news is that we'll have some fresh towels for sale :)
baldguy
Apr 23 2009, 03:44 PM
We're at 82 players now. We have 3 spots left in Rec, 5 left in Advanced. The other divisions won't reach a cap, but we do only have 4 left of the 10 guaranteed spots for Open. Open, Masters, and Grandmasters are all playing for a share of the $500 in added cash. Payout should be very nice in all divisions :)
baldguy
Apr 24 2009, 04:06 AM
89 players! only one spot left in advanced and two in rec. one more guaranteed spot for open, the rest are first-come, first-served. Tomorrow being payday, I think we'll fill in the morning. Just in case there are any spots left Saturday morning, registration will be shut off and the rest of the spots sold in person.
This is shaping up to be another great TDO! See you all this weekend :)

the only thing that could change that schedule is lightning.
FYI - since a few have asked - Round 1 will be from the longs forPro and Advanced, round 2 from the shorts. Rec and Intermediate are going to play both rounds from the shorts. Don't be fooled though... the shorts at Harry Myers aren't exactly a cakewalk :)

baldguy
Apr 24 2009, 11:08 PM
doubles on Saturday will be the red course all around, to keep things flowing :)
97 players now... including your humble TD :D. Gary Duke has kindly offered his services as Marshal and to help out at tournament HQ - so I get to play!
UPDATE: Rec and intermediate are now closed! Because we will have a full course at 5 players per card and different divisions playing different tees in round 1, we cannot fit any more in the Rec and Intermediate fields. The remaining 3 spots will be sold to Open, Masters, Grandmasters, Advanced, or Advanced Masters. If there are any cancellations today or tomorrow in Rec or Intermediate, we will sell those spots as they become available.
i've heard of quite a few teams coming out for doubles tomorrow. Should be a great turnout for both days. Let's go TDO! :D

41 total teams for dubs!
Hot round was 53 - Anthony Cordova and yours truly :D. I'm working on getting scores together to post
On a sad note - Someone stole the #17A basket... Less than an hour between when the last card played the hole and when I drove over there to pick it up... and it was gone. I've had that basket for 5 years and while it isn't much to look at, I'd love to have it back. If anyone hears anything, there is a REWARD for info leading to its return. Maybe an additional reward if a thief-beating accompanies the info.
