I threw some more Star Bosses last night to compare to my pre-release (as I understand these are from the same run). I bought a domey red 175, and I threw my friend's domey green 170. I didn't get to throw these much, but I didn't have to...one word...OVERSTABLE. The red one is more overstable than any Champion I've thrown. I'm happy, because its going to windy at my tourney this weekend.
There were some white ones that felt less stable, I think I'm going to try one out tonight and report back.

I've only thrown the 1st run Pro Ds from the GSC. They are close to those with the boss being a bit more LSS. I'm sure the Star Bosses will take longer to break in.
I did get to test out a 172 Red Stock Boss against the Pre-Release ones and they were pretty much the same for me. There was a 20mph or so wind and that may have had an effect, but all acted the same in the same conditions. With the tailwind these were going in the 420-430 range. They all glided (glid?) Really well with the wind, unlike my grooves.

Last night I got to put all of my D drivers through quite a workout at a ball golf DG course. I picked up a white Star Boss and I was also throwing my pre-release and a red Star Boss along with a couple of champion versions. All are max weight.
The white star Boss was exactly what I was looking for. It pretty much flies true to the numbers, which means its a little less HSS than most other Bosses. This worked out great as I was ripping it flat and it was turning for most of its flight and coming back at the end. I normally struggle to get over 450', and I got that disc out 475'+ a couple of times. This will probably become my workhorse Boss.
I was also VERY impressed with my pre-release. Unfortunately I threw it close to 500' and put it right into a pond that I've only ever reached with a roller. Some impressed ball golfers pointed to the middle of the pond where my disc evidently landed. Poor time for one of my longest throws I guess...Maybe I'll get it back some day, maybe not.
My red Star Boss is the most overstable Boss I've thrown. I used it a few times into headwinds, and with the exception of one throw, I underestimated its overstability each time and ended up left of my target. That disc is a pig!
Overall I can say with confidence that the Star Boss is faster and longer than the Champion. The Champion has better glide, especially when flying on a hyzer. The Star has about 3/4 of the skipping action of the Champ, which is usually a good thing. The Stars skid up more on cement and other rough surfaces than the Champ. I imagine I will be throwing the Stars more, but I will probably keep a Champ in the bag as well for durability, hyzers, and skip shots.

I tested my star bosses today, a 175 (orange) and 170 (white). Ithrew them alongside my beat champ ones. The heavier one was very straight with no wind, kinda like what I was hoping for with the groove. And the white one was really overstable!! I threw them into a headwind and the orange turned and went 70ft right and the white one landed 70ft left (on the same line). Pretty big difference between the two. They were both pretty stiff feeling. I threw a turnover sht with a tailwind and it held its line very well and went pretty dang far. I am happy with the orange one, the white one is a little too overstable for now. It filled the spot in my bag I thought the groove would be, but i am not a fan of the groove.

The Star Boss appears to be a reported.
I bought two.
All of the Star Boss's under 170 appear to use a plastic that shrinks a lot. The wings of all of the lighter discs had VERY concave wings and almost appeared to be more like and Orc, Flash or Crush. The heavier discs all had wings more similar to the familiar Wraith wing (like an L wing with a little vertical bead). This added concavity to the wing would explain why the lighter ones are more stable than the heavier ones.
I bought a 168 with the concave wing and it was more similar to a Force, as it would hold in hyser into some serious wind.
The 173 had slightly more shrinkage than the Champ Boss so the the wing was slightly more concave than the Champ and less less concave than the 168, and in my opinion was the "right" stability for distance without being "squirrely".
Both were better in the wind than any of the Champ (makes sense as the Champ wing is more flat on the bottom). It was very windy today so I got to do some testing.
All in all, I give it a thumbs up. I want to see some more when they come in.
PS: the Destroyer was similar when it came out. The newer Destroyers are infinity better than the first few runs.

Was finally able to get a Star Boss this weekend. Tried it and my two Champ Bosses on a hole that is in the low 400s. The two Champ Bosses were about 50ft short, but the Star Boss was about 15ft short. Sweeeeet!

All I can say is that I had one of those proto-run Champ Bosses, and it was too flippy for my sidearm drive. Picked up a max weight red Star Boss today, and threw the longest sidearm of my life. That thing is freaking OVERSTABLE! More overstable than my Max.

I am seeing about the same results, both distance and drop, as my Groove, but I feel far more comfortable throwing the Star Boss because it can handle an S-Curve while the Groove needs to be flat and low. If there is any wind, I will definitely be reaching for the Star Boss over the Groove when I still need distance.
For those keeping score, I have noticed that the Star Boss flies nearly identical to the new Discraft Prototype Groove, maybe a little faster.
