Just got back from throwing the pre-release Star Boss (https://www.discgolfvalues.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=261) (thanks Mark, for shipping them so fast), along with some of my other Bosses and a Groove at the Shoreline Kite Flying Area (http://wikimapia.org/62888/Kite-flying-area-Shoreline-Park). Winds were calm today (unusual for the area).
The Star Boss (168g pink) was definitely more overstable than the other discs but had similar glide and fade (in order of stability, least to most: 174g X-Out blue Boss, 174g SoCal Champ yellow boss, 172g yellow groove, 175g orange first run boss). All the discs were landing within 30' of each other, with the exception of the X-Out Boss, which was typically 30' - 40' past the rest of them. Bear in mind that I don't have the biggest arm out there and I find the Force and Excaliber to be too much disc for me. The X-Out boss is so beat in now that it's actually more of a turn over disc.
While it's a bit light I think the 168g Star Boss is going to be excellent in the wind. I should get a good chance to find out this weekend; I'm playing in the Vintage Cup in Napa, strong winds forecast for Saturday afternoon with rain Sunday (the Star plastic should also help with the grip in the wet).
Glad to add the Star Boss to my bag. Now, when can I get a Dart? :-)

No first runs? Maybe the pre-release will be worth more.

I didnt get a chance to throw any of the heavier star boss's but I've thrown a couple 168 ones. Pink was by far the most stable, but they were all more stable than ANY champion boss I've owned. They are as equaly stable as my nightshift star destroyers. These are awsome fore sure! Throwing them flat into a 25+mph headwind RHBH they would still hyzer through the flight and not flatten out. This is gonna be a great production disc... I'm holding back the rest of my pre-releases and wait for the production run, it just came out. I know u can get some on ebay. Or on discgolfvalues.com

I got a light green 175 Star Boss on Friday. I have been sick for a couple of weeks, so I haven't gotten to rip it as much or as hard as I like, but I have thrown it a few times to get a taste.
To give some perspective, I throw domey, stiff, max weight Champion Bosses. I never really liked the first runs because of the touchiness in their stability. My Star Boss is definetely LESS high speed stable than the Champions I throw. It seems a little quicker with a slightly later fade. The disc also feels incredible. It is quite stiff and feels like a really nice 12x Wraith plastic-wise. It has a big dome with a poppy top just like the Champs I throw. I think this is going to be my longest stable flyer once I get healthy and give it some reps. I'll give a better review when I've thrown it more.

Last night I was feeling a little better on antibiotics and corticosteroids, so I went to the field to throw my Star Boss some more.
I was throwing some max D and some controlled D shots and the wind was pretty steady @ 10+ mph. I threw a variety of shots through the wind at different angles. I had my original Feldberg Boss (Blue, stiff, domey, 175), the Star Boss (described in post above), and 2 FR Champ Grooves (Yellow 174, Merlot 175). I also had the rest of my bag, but I was mainly throwing those discs.
First thing that surprised me was that all these fast discs sucked in ANY tailwind. It just completely robbed them of glide. On one dramatic example with a straight/slightly RTL tailwind I threw my Buzz farther than any of them. They are so hit or miss with the nose angle with the tailwind. My Monarchs and Teebirds flew the best with the tailwinds.
Into head and crosswinds the Bosses flew very well, and the Grooves performed better than expected as well. The Star Boss is a beautiful flying disc. I will back up my initial observation of it being less stable that my Champion Bosses. It also seems to have a smoother, tighter flight with its high speed turn and return to hyzer. It has a predictable finish, but not nearly as hard as my Champs. It was EASIER to throw smoothly, less than 100%, and it was flipping up and over from slight hyzer and coming back for really long, straight flights (straight for an uber-fast disc anyway). It almost seemed like no matter how I tweaked my angle of release, it wanted that beautiful S flight. It definetely seemed a little quicker and had a longer glide than my Champ. My Champ was still better in straight away headwind situations, and more trustworthy when thrown really hard. It also held long hyzers better. My Grooves never beat my Bosses distance-wise unless I shanked. I found the Groove to be more useful as a control disc for low ceilings and for when I wanted less skip/fade than the Boss. I was also surprised by how little the wind messed with the Groove--when I gave it more than slight hyzer it was flipping up, but not over. When fading with the wind, the Groove cut left as hard as anything. With the tailwind, it was hard to tell the difference b/w the Groove and the Boss.
All in all I look forward to throwing the Star Boss more. I think it is the best stable distance driver on the market to get consistent and long S flights. My Champ Boss is in no danger b/c it is definetely a 1/2 step more stable and better in many wind situations, but it will be thrown less. I am taking my more stable Groove out of the bag b/c the Star Boss is longer and pretty similar stability-wise.

Do you have any star Bosses, not pre release?

I'm going to get some production run Star Bosses tonight to test them against the pre-release. I don't usually bite on the pre-releases, but the one I bought feels so darn good...I'm betting it will be hard to find ones that nice in the big run, but I hope I'm wrong.

The Production run is from the same run as the Pre-Releases. I got this from Mark M. They just pulled out 150 of them and put the pre-release stamp on them

Yeah, I have 2 orange 167g with both stamps and they are definitely the same. Today I threw one at 175g, and another at 167g and really liked the stability. Maybe a little less stable but seemed faster then the champ version. Both very consistent but still a lot fade, more than most destroyers yet the boss has a rating of 3 and a destroyer 4. If they want to add flight info on the disc, maybe then speed and stability could be enough.
