There wasn't one last year and that was very disappointing. Anybody know anything about this year?

Pretty sure same as last year. None. I don't think it's going to be held except in years when Pro Worlds is separate from Am Worlds. We're proposing it for PW2010 in Hammond (pending approval) similar to the Highbridge timing and format.

Since you are Kyle Norrid's buddy I won't say anything sarcastic.

I don't get it. This is the funnest event to play in and now, two years running, it's bupkis. Is it really that difficult to organize?

I think it's partly a fairness issue. Houck ran Pro World Dubs for years but it turned into mostly a Texahoma Championship. Not exactly a world field. Unless the event is connected with another event that brings in players from outside North America, it's not really Worlds, it's National Dubs like Houck used to run in the 90s. The giant Pro-Am Worlds events are just too complex with a busy schedule to really do Pro World dubs at those. The other option is near USDGC when international players are here. But then it would primarily be Open players and a handful of women. So being connected with a standalone Pro Worlds seems to be the best option.

I'll have to strongly disagree with you on the scheduling issue. It could easily be scheduled before or after the singles competitions.

Don't disagree with me but the hosts and the PDGA. Someone has to want to deal with it then and I doubt people want to run it or even play it on the Thur-Fri before Worlds weekend activities or on Sun-Mon the day after Finals.

Chuck,
Please elaborate on your mention of the possible "PW2010 in Hammond". I've been checking but haven't heard anything yet about 2010. Thanks.

The Hammond bid is being submitted at the PDGA Spring Summit April 30-May 1. I don't believe anyone else is bidding so it's assumed that we'll make it work. It's a 4-course complex called Lemon Lake listed in the PDGA Course Directory in Crown Point, IN maybe an hour SE of Chicago Midway airport. Head honcho is longtime PDGA promoter Brian Cummings who helped direct development of the complex. We're looking at hosting the first Super Class Nationals there this summer Aug 22-23 which will give people a sneak peek at this 4-course beauty. The fourth White course is going in later this spring.

You are the one making these statements, not the PDGA or hosts. And I know a lot of people that would want to play doubles if offered.

I'm one of the Worlds advance team coordinators for the PDGA so my comments are related to actual planning discussions for the past several Worlds and the stance of the PDGA and hosts regarding when Worlds Doubles might be offered any more. It just doesn't look like it will happen connected with a Pro-Am Worlds due to a packed schedule. It may happen at a standalone Pro Worlds if the hosts want to do it. Good news is at least 2010 and 2011 should be standalone Pro Worlds.

Oh well, Lemon Lake 2010 then. I know Brian will want to have doubles.
