So what does our bag tag get us?

Well for you specifically, a five minute second helping alone with the SHEEP after Twoputt is done with it and if you didnt buy one then you were going to yet again get kicked out of THE BAND. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

But I would ask..

What more do you need besides knowing that you have helped support a new course and a great event and tradition thats been bringing DGers together since before you were a twinkle in you dads eye?

What more do you need besides having the glory of knowing you hold and display what will probably be the most collectable and valued super color bag tag & back stage pass recognizing the course and mountain where so many youth found DG nirvana.

Shouldnt that be enough?

Well I doth profess I think the Opie protest-ith too much but here are some highlights.

Three mini DGA golden trophy baskets will be given away either by random draw or CTP. One of those will be specifically for back stage pass holders only. Each basket will have the 25 year tournament stamp and will look good in your trophy case though I doubt you would ever come close to winning it in a CTP. Mitch Mac and Barton took one home last year.

The # 1 CS25 tag that LilMoose currently holds will be traded out to 1 BT holder either by the ways mentioned above or possibly in a ring of fire round of BT holders specifically. I may have to wrestle LilMoose to get it out of her hoofs though because she currently has it under lock and key and wears it occasionally to remind me of where I stand in our relationship. :(

Exclusive merch and goodie drawings.

Possibly a shot at owning the Steady Ed Memorial (a $200 value) set. Im on the fence about this one because I really want it for myself. Once I had it in my hands it would be really hard to give up. If I were to purchase this and offer to give it away to one lucky winner I would have to sell all 100 BTs before the tournament. On top I that feel that old DGers might appreciate this more so the possibility of handing it over to you might be too much to bare. :D

The other possibility was a Wii gaming console but Im sure the people that have a Wii would prefer the above. It would also take $250 out of the course fund though so we should probably spread for prizes to cover more winners. ;)

Neither of those two are set in stone but if you want to give me the Memorial set for my birthday it might give you more clout in THE BAND.

Other possible benefits.

Discounts on merchandise.

Exclusive CTPs at my future minis.

Selective hole assignments so if you dont have a tag at my minis youre walking to # 6.

10-20% extra if you hit an ace pot at a mini.

My autograph.

A year from now they will be worth $25 on Ebay.

A bag tag tournament. (Havent seen one of those in a while.)

The joy of showing up at Dovillio and griping at the TD because his course has no tag and doesnt offer any benefits like a CS25 card does.

I like that last one the best. :)

My first tournament ever was the 20th Chandler Tornado in 2004. It was a great experience and really set the tone for my competative disc golf fire that still burns in me. I got to see a real Pro for the first time, the first highly skilled female player I ever saw, got to see Coda and Alexi when they were still Am's, Steady Ed's brother.... many found memories of that tournament. :D

I REALLY wanted to make it up this year for my 5 year tournament anniversary, but its not in the cards :(

I will make it back up there one day, but until then, best wishes on a fabulous event.

I too was there Jerry. John Green was running it then. I can't remember if that was the year he had over 170 players or not but I remember Boobs and some mysterious kid from OKC that everyone refered to as Coda.

Next time I saw Coda after that was when he tripped me and pushed me into a pop corn machine in the bar at the host hotel during Am Worlds. What a bully.;)

Nowdays he's beating up on everybody and taking their lunch money at our mini's. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Sorry you can't make it and I hope to see you next year. :)

Thanks to Pat Standingbear, all the Chandler Park workers, and Gary Nail for helping work on the new course (name anyone?) at Chandler. Those guys at Chandler are really helping make this course a nice one!
I hope I can get back from my honeymoon on Sunday to Tulsa to get a round in with everyone at Chandlerstock and see what they think of the new course (typical disc golfer mentality on my part, running back from my honeymoon to play disc golf with my buddies :p).
I'm starting to see this thing become a reality

GET READY FOR THE "BIG MOOSE" GIVE-AWAY.

Upon distant hills and mountains above there has been distant speaking of things like this in biblical times. "No", Jesus won't be there to turn water into wine but I would imagine that those that believe might see him smiling back at them though the eyes of the small animals that live in the woods.

CS25 will be 'Fur-Tack-U-Lar" and if ever the road that you are on leads you astray,....you will always be welcome as family here.

My name is Furdog and I approve this message!!!

Ok, the Moose is Loose and the clock is ticking down to one of the Moose Fun weekends of the year.

On April 26th, 1984, a tornado warning at Chandler Park drove a group of disc golfers out of the park, forcing their tournament, originally called the Spring Thaw, to be completed at another location. The event would become to be known as The Chandler Tornado Open (aka: Chandlerstock) and for 25 years disc golfers both young and old have gathered once a year at Chandler Park in remembrance of that day,.the winds that allow us all to fly free,.& to color the skies in the true spirit of peace, love, and disc golf.

LilMoose, Furdog, and introducing the new guy Wayne Forest as CO-TD and Technicolor Advisor this year, proudly present Chandlerstock 25: Special Edition.

A non-sanctioned Fest-a-Vus of Dancing Moose and Barking Dogs celebrating the silver anniversary of the original Chandler Tornado Open and Earth Day Weekend as designated by the Tulsa County Parks Department.

For those that wish to camp please remember that our event has all three shelters on the top level reserved for us though # 2 (HQ) and # 3 by the short course are generally preferred as they are closer to the courses. Please feel free to camp anywhere but be mindful of nearby baskets on the new course to ensure you are not pitching your tent in a fairway. We will have maps of the new course available at HQ (Shelter # 2).

A limited number of fund raising CS25 commemorative bag tags are still available for $10. We will have a quick CTP or a Ring of Fire at the players meeting for bag tag holders only and this will determine who will carry the # 1 tag. I will also be giving away a DGA Golden Mini Basket to one lucky tag holder through one of those two methods and though you dont have to be a player to win it, you must be present with your tag in your hand to win so make sure you bring it to the players meeting. These tags will also be good for other special giveaways during the weekend and at future Furdog minis or events so if you cant come to CS25, there will still be value in having one.

Those that buy mullys will have shot at one of those baskets and one basket will be given away at the awards ceremony by scorecard drawing.

The first 100 registered AM players will receive, not a hot stamp, .not a Colormax like last year, but a wall to wall, edge to edge special edition tournament stamp SUPERCOLOR Buzz by Discraft in their players pack. :)

Lots of other goodies and surprises await and like always, and we will light the night up on Saturday night with a special Saturday Nite Flights with The Wayne-ster.

If you can not make it for the whole weekend then come out when you can and join in and check out the new 18 as we are still tweaking to get tee pad placements finalized before we pour the concrete.

Party this weekend and then check out some serious action during NT week at The Lodge in Pawhuska. :)

Thank you Steady Ed for allowing us to tee off and fly free!!!!

Well I believe I was still in prison at that time.

I remember the first one I went to and how surprised I was to see people from as far as Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, and OKC. I was just a DG Hack then and I remember all the talk about this new kid Coda Hatfield from OKC. Then there was Boobs, Keldog, and Jeff Ash from Arkansas. Mr Brother Love John Green running around giving hugs to everyone. The OKC camp with the smell of BBQ in the air. Bud Johnson saying Brother Scott, will you drive me down the hill to get a cup of coffee?, and of course people lining up to sharpie Cupcakes. I remember people playing DG at 4 in the morning.....Everyone is a different character and adds something good to the event. Each year is a different memory and 6 years later Im still a DG Hack but to me its never been about the DG but more about the good vibes and feel of an event that brings laughter and good times to everyone. Chandlerstock to me is like camping in Gumby and Pokey land with the lights of the city below glowing like stars in the sky above. There is magic at night with baskets lit up like Christmas trees and slow moving groups of glow rings walking in the distance.

I also found out that the best way to cash in the event is pick the division with the most beer drinkers because most of them will sleep in the second day and allow you to move up. ;)

I hope not to see a tornado this year because Riverside is still not open so if we get kicked out I guess we'll have to settle it with Rock, Paper, Sissors. I found out that the Spock sign of "Live long and Prosper" trumps all of those though. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yeah. Last two years I was lucky and only had windy conditions but it's looking like 60-80% percent on Friday and then down to 30% on Saturday and even less on Sunday so that doesn't sound too bad. Everybody should bring their rain gear just in case and if a mud pit forms then we can mud wrestle. After the #1 bag tag incident of a couple of CS's ago, I'll have no problem rubbing your face in the mud. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I'm glad to hear some people are enjoying the new course. You can thank Furdog and Marie for not only having the foresight to make this new course a reality but also their $ sponsorship.
Speaking of which, I am putting a bounty on hole #6 of the new course (the original placement I nailed down) of $25 for whomever birdies (2 shots) this hole during tournament play. Yes you can use mulligans in your attempt. I heard Boy Wonder already birdied it in practice :D
There will hopefully be improvements and concrete pads coming to this course after Chandlerstock. If you know me the course will become a little tougher as long as it is fair, fun, and safe (and the Godfather Furdog approves it)
Hope everyone has a great time at Chandlerstock, see you there on Sunday ;)

It wouldn't be Chandler without getting run off the mountain. Last night we were about 10 holes in when it hit. I looked at my partner when the wind came in ans said C-YA! :D I got back to Mitch Macs camp and told them to batton down the hatches just about the same time his new tent, with the side walls came tumbling down and Mitch hollering NOOOOoooooooo, not my new tent!!!!!!!!!!!! As it rapped around him and swallowed him up while he was trying to save it. Then poor Will standing there looking at the canrnage knowing his TV was still in the pile some where. When we uncovered everything the TV was still up right, plugged in and on. :D

I had a great time and just wished I could have played the rounds today. :( But oh well, family first.

Thank you FurDog, Marie, my caddie Carla Barton and all of the volunteers that helped in getting the new course in and the tournament pulled off. I saw more new faces and first time players than ever before. I think there were 140 players. What a great weekend. ;)

Amazing stories from ChandlerStock. It went from hey I need to get a jacket, to oh my watch all of our stuff blow away. Not quite a tornado, but at least 40-50mph winds and driving rain in its place.

The new course looks good. There are too many people to thank directly - So a hugh thanks to all parties involved.

Ok after two days of hibernation Im back and I would like to thank the following for their help and support.

Lil-Moose, for putting up with me through the years. She makes me want to be a better dog and if she hadnt picked me out at the dog shelter there is no telling where I would be right now. She is my inspiration.

My Co-td and long lost hairy brother Wayne Forest who has always been around in the past two years to help me with the tech DG questions and stuff. Probably the calmest guy I know during stressful times and I believe takes better care of my course than I do.

Richard Bales, Pat Ward, Pat Standingbear, and the Chandler Tulsa County Parks maintenance crew. These people rock so remember to thank them if you see them and always pick up your trash at Chandler or any park you play at.

Evan McKee for the cool bag tags, trophy tags, coozies, and donating some nice WAFDA merch.

Newly married Cris Hicks for basic course design of Moose Run and ROF donations. Please submit all Moose Run course complaints to his attention. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Carla Barton for staffing, running cards out, checking scores, bagging cards, and super cool tye dye cookies. MMMMmmmmm!!!! I see her helping at almost every tournament and I feel privileged having her help at ours.

Gary Nail for helping plant baskets and showing up on weekdays to help clear brush and work on the course.

Dave Wise for sighting course distances and for the nice words and presentation at the players meeting. I thought you were just there to tell jokes.

George Skinner for the cool course maps.

Rob Davis for tournament stamp artwork.

Bud Johnson, Wayne Gregory, and Coda Hatfield setting up the tarps along with Billy Swanson who brought us breakfast each morning. Billy also donated some discs and along with Steve and Cindy Neagele helped bag payout.

Brad Hoi, for bringing in a temp basket, wood, mulch, and water jugs. Billy Juby and Joyle Deering with a temp basket.

Barb Paske for security at the RV door during pre-registration.

Others that donated time and/or merch are:

Jake Regier and Charlestons restaurant
Jay Slack
Becky Schneider
Kevin Gilliland
Twisted Flyer
Discraft
Mike & Kim Click
Daryl Johnson
John Barton
Michael Acosta
Mitch McClellan
Joel Woody and Crow Creek Bar & Grill

If I forgot to mention someone I apologize. I know we were running a little late at the awards and I failed to mention most of these names because I was trying to get everyone out and on the road as soon as possible.

All in all it was a great weekend with 136 total players and $590 in camping fees raised and going into the Park Friends DG account. The bad weather during round play stayed away for the most part accept for during Saturday Nite Flights. I would have loved to have been down there watching the sprint to the car of whomever was on # 6 when the mini tornado and rain started. :)

This year felt like the easiest of all so far because of all the help and support from the many friends listed above. There were only two eggheads that I know of that tried to screw the pooch. One was some kid peeling out and doing half donuts in the field near the end of the ROF and the other was some other clepto who tried to steal other players stuff at the end of the awards ceremony. I wont mention their names here but I will say to them Dont show up at my minis if youre not willing to apologize. Otherwise next year CS will be invitation only and you two will be the only ones that dont get one. :p

With that said,..thanks to all the players who came out to support this event and thanks again to all that purchased a fund raiser CS25 bag tag. Hang on to those tags as there will still be special perks and merch discounts to all that have them at my minis. I still have plenty of tourney t-shirts, coozies, and mating minis available at discount. Also, for those that are into the Crystal Tournament Buzzes that I always hold back until after the tourney, Ive got about 14 or 15 of those still available for $15. Only 25 were made and if you have one from the last two years, this is the third in the series.

Look for some ongoing course tweeking of Moose Run in the coming weeks as course designer Cris Hicks will be trying to tighten the difficulty while course safety director Jose Mendoza works to ensure general safety to both the public and DGers alike. Once that gets hammered out, look for cement pads, sponsored by the TDSA, coming soon. I was surprised to see it named Moose Run but IMO if fits and LilMoose has been happy ever since. For those wondering about the Moose Hunter contest this year, we were going to do it but we accidentally left them at home. When we got home they were still having sex on the refrigerator.

Concerning the original course, it is my opinion that it should be called The Steady Ed Memorial since he put in the original nine and there are still some holes in the original locations. Standingbears Keep is being thrown around also. Those of you that played # 14 this weekend on the short course will have played it for the last time as it will be pulled within the next week or two due to the new lagoon they are building out there.

The official date for Chandlerstock 26 next year has been reserved for the weekend of April 18th and 19th 2010 . Sorry but the County Parks Department likes reservations for events like this a year in advance and doesnt run its schedule around the PDGA. I do not know what the PDGA schedule is for next year is at this time and Im sorry if a conflict with a nearby PDGA event arises but after this weekend it is evident in my mind that both can co-exist with each other.

Thanks again to everyone.

Peace, love, & Disc Golf :)

Woof!
