TitleDISC is proud to bring you yet another quality event in Mesquite, TX! The TitleDISC Squite Shoot will be a one-day-Sunday event on 3/29 with flex-start doubles all day on Saturday 3/28.
We'll play the same format as last year's Mesquite Open. 2 rounds of 21 holes with advanced and pro divisions playing the Championship tees. The course record on the short 21-hole layout stands at 50, held by JD Ramirez and Dalton Seabolt. Will someone break that this go-round?
We will have even more great gear than ever before! Sponsorships are available for this event at our standard rates:
$50 per teesign (max. 4)
$100 for t-shirt
$250 for a banner hung at tournament HQ
The City of Mesquite is behind us full force and we hope to show them that they need even more courses :). Registration will be available very soon @ www.TitleDISC.com (http://www.TitleDISC.com) and this will almost definitely fill up early, just like the Mesquite Open did. We also had over 50 teams play doubles back in October. Let's see if we can get over 60 this time!
Registration Fees will be as follows:
Pro: $50
Adv: $40
Int: $35
Rec: $30
Juniors: $20
Sex- and Age-protected divisions will be available, with all ladies divisions getting a $10 discount! As always, ladies and juniors will pay out *over* 100%.
See you all in Mesquite!

BBD,
Why Sunday? Not that it matters b/c i hope to come anyway but seems like you'd get a better turnout on Saturdays with no church, no whiney old guys (like me) that will have to be tired at work on Mon, etc. Just curious. :D
baldguy
Feb 20 2009, 02:00 PM
well, we've filled all of our 1-day sunday events so far.... so turnout hasn't been a problem :). Plus, it lets folks play doubles on their own schedule on Saturday. We can only hold 105 on Sunday, but flex-start dubs on Saturday can hold a lot more. We had 56 teams (112 players) in October!
I know that Sundays aren't doable for some folks, but Saturdays are in the same boat. Lots of people, especially those in the service industry, can't play a Saturday event. I hate to exclude anyone but hopefully having stuff going on both days will give everyone an option to come have fun.
Hope you can make it!

We already have several entries in for this tournament! We also have a great new sponsor on board - Mesquite Sports Center. The tournament is expected to fill @ the 105 player cap, so don't delay! Anyone who can't get in, can't play for some other reason, or just wants to warm up for Sunday is welcome to come play the BYOP flex dubs on Saturday. There will be lots of teams playing Saturday, so payout will be great and competition will surely be heated.
Don't forget to sign up online @ titledisc.com!

Are all of the local events going to extra holes with fivesomes? That sure makes for a long day.
baldguy
Mar 09 2009, 05:17 PM
Back in October we used the same format and played with fivesomes on every hole @ Paschall The longest round (long pads for everyone plus champion pads on 4 holes for adv/pro) was barely over 3 hours. The short round was done in 2.5. It won't be that long of a day :). plus, fivesomes allows more people to participate. If we don't get 105, then we will spread folks out as much as possible. This is a pre-reg only event, so we *will* get started on time. That's just how I roll :D

Umm..we were still on the course..$400 richer, but missed the ring of fire :)
It really only backed on the field holes Bill and the "new" holes, but they were not terribly slow rounds..

We already have 12 people signed up and several teams interested in doubles! We will have the new Star Boss and R-Pro Dart in stock, along with some cool new TitleDISC embroidered polos. Our new line of hats was so popular in Wichita Falls that we've ordered a bunch more, so those will be available too :).
Lots of fun and great stuff to be had. Don't miss out. Get signed up ASAP to ensure you have a spot!

20 players signed up so far!
This tournament is likely to fill quickly, so don't miss out :). We can hold 105, but I've decided to cap it at 100 to give a bit of breathing room. Remember, just like the Mesquite Open last year, we'll be moving #17's basket, moving #5's long tee, adding championship tees on 3 holes (for advanced and pro), and adding three alternate holes to make a total of 21 holes for this event. We also throw in a couple of mando obstacles and toughen up the OB a little to improve course flow and improve the challenge of the course.
We will not be having tournament t-shirts for this event, so the payout will be a bit higher (no players pack to take out of the calculation). We have some added cash for the pro divisions, too! It's less than two weeks away... see you all in Mesquite!

27 now on the list (2 of which aren't posted yet, waiting for more info). only 11 spots left in Rec!
We have some of the new R-Pro Darts in stock, as well as some sweet Star Bosses. We also just got in a fresh supply of Innova bags and straps, TitleDISC hats, and TitleDISC dry-fit embroidered polos. Tons of Discraft, Innova and hopefully Gateway discs on top of all that.
Get signed up soon, This one will be full before you know it!

42 signed up now! Rec is getting very, very full. I will shut it down this afternoon, if it gets to 30 or higher. Otherwise I'll shut it down at 30 spots exactly.
One week to go! Both Saturday and Sunday should be great weather. The course is looking very good thanks to some work done by the local group. Remember that the singles event is a pre-registration-only tournament! If any spots are still available on Saturday during doubles, that will be the last time anyone can sign up for Sunday's sanctioned singles event. I will be at the Towne Lake mini today in McKinney to take any in-person registrations. Doubles will be handled on a walk-up basis, so you can play as many times as you like and just pay when you get there.
7 days and counting :)

Up to 49 players, with a couple of spots still open for Rec Men. The weatherman is giving us a great forecast for the weekend. At least another 5 or 6 pros have told me they plan to sign up on Saturday, so those 10 reserved spots for Open will most likely be taken. Don't plan on being able to get in at the last minute... Keep those registrations coming in!

What time are you starting up Saturday Josh and what are the doubles costs?
Are Jack and Mike still playing ADV or have they moved onto Master since Ray jumped in?
baldguy
Mar 24 2009, 11:28 PM
Well, Mike didn't specify which division when he signed up (in person) so I'm not sure where he intended to land. Jack signed up for advanced as usual but he's also welcome to move if he'd rather whoop on the OMBs
Saturday dubs will start at 8:30am, with the last card going out at 5:30pm. this time around doubles will be all longs (no champ pads). $30 for pro teams (Open and Masters) $20 for am teams (Advanced and Intermediate) $10 for ladies teams (advanced only). Should be a pretty good turnout for doubles as well
We're up to 60 now, btw! players list can be found at www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com)

69 players as of now. I will take registration online and in person all day tomorrow, but the list will be set as of then. I will not take registrations the morning of the event, no matter who you are :). This isn't to be difficult, it's to ensure that we get moving on time in the morning. I have played many, many tournaments that did not start on time... there's nothing worse than getting there early to warm up, then having to wait an extra 30+ minutes after "bringing it in" for the TD to get his crap together and start the players meeting. If you've ever played one of our events, you know that we run things on time. This will be no exception.
Anyway, you will have a chance to sign up in person tomorrow during doubles. It's an all-day affair - 8:30am till dark, with the last card going out at 5:30pm. It's a great chance to warm up for Sunday's event, and provides a way for more folks to play since some have to work on sundays. BYOP and come have some fun :)

been taking calls all day about this tournament. The Open field is shaping up nicely! JD set the 21-hole course record back in October... but there are some big guns coming out to challenge his supremacy :)
We are at 72 players, officially as of right now so there's still plenty of room... at least a dozen or so people have told me they plan to sign up during doubles tomorrow. The weather on Sunday will be fantastic, and there shouldn't be enough rain today to create too much mud. If, for some reason, the ground is really muddy I may have to shut down the championship tees on a couple of holes. I'll make that decision tomorrow at the course. Either way, it's going to be a great two rounds of golf :)
We'll also be taking registrations for the 2nd TitleDISC Open (in Rockwall) this weekend. A few have come in already for that event and if last year is any indication - it should fill very early.
See you all this weekend :)

Gateway discs are in! We have plenty of Voodoos, Magics, Wizards, Elements, Spirits and a few more. Even some of the cool new Hemp discs and the environmentally-friendly Organic ones. We also have plenty of minis, stickers, and other cool stuff for the Ring of Fire. This is gonna be fun :)

Mar 28 2009, 02:28 AM
It's gonna be cold in the morning, but will be over 50 before noon. Almost 70 in the afternoon. A bit of wind but nothing you guys can't handle :)
The extra 3 holes are still a "maybe" for doubles. Mesquite got some heavy rain and we might not put in the extra holes to give them a chance to dry out for Sunday, without getting too torn up from so many golfers going through. Those holes and 3 of the champion pads are the only dirt pads on the course. We'll see what shape the ground is in before we make the final decision on that, but it's looking good!
For those of you that do brave the cold in the morning, we have plenty of beanies, ear warmers, and long sleeve tees left from the cold season. Be sure to bring towels and come on out for some fun golf :)

70's my arse :)
Bagged a Par in AM with Watts, but we took Tabor/Parker's +1 Pro :) that wind was brutal and amazing...
Everyone make sure to shake hands with Oscar from the City of Mequite..he helped make all 3 courses possible and is hungry for more ideas and more courses..
If we can get this south course, we will have camping and the chance at a A-Tier with 2 18's close and tons of city options for the player

I have a few Voodoos but just found out that they are no good for PDGA play. Check the list in this link.
Approved Discs and Targets under this submenu: www.pdga.com/tech-standards (http://www.pdga.com/tech-standards)
I suggest emailing gateway and pushing them to get this disc submitted for approval.

I've talked to Dave about it. He is well aware that people want it on the approved list :)
Players list is now set at 85 players! I will get it posted in a few. We have also pushed the players meeting back 30 minutes until 9:00, to allow it to warm up just a bit more before we get underway.
The course is looking great! The city put down quite a bit of mulch in the muddier areas, and the rest is draining nicely. We will have full use of the champion tees and the alternate holes for tomorrow's event.
30+ teams came out and braved the windy conditions today for doubles. I'll also be posting those results in a few :). Payout will be available starting after the player's meeting tomorrow, please try to pick it up during lunch or save it for a bigger payoff tomorrow afternoon :)

WTG Giggler!!! Heard you won it in a playoff against JD. Suh-weet!
Hated to miss it, but NW Austin had golfball - baseball sized hail on Wed and i am swampped w/ homeowner claims.
Does anyone else think the 2nd round ratings are low?

man, you are on the ball :) I just posted those scores like 5 minutes ago! :D
http://www.pdga.com/tournament-results?TournID=8768&year=2009&include_ratings=1#O pen
This tournament was so much fun to put on and I hope everyone had as good of a time playing as we did running it. Grats to those who cashed and those who took home a chunk of the $350 ace pot. We had to throw off CTP-style for $350 since nobody got one to stick during the round :).
5 Juniors played!! I'm stoked about that - it's the most juniors we've had play any one of our tournaments so far and it's great to see them out there enjoying the sport.
thanks again to the Team DiscQualified guys, especially Donovan, Ray, and of course Chris "Cul-de-sac" McDougald. All three of these guys helped us set up and tear down, but Chris also ran the ring of fire, helped with the CTP throwoff, and spent all day with us at tournament HQ working just as hard as any of us. He swears his knee will be healed enough to play the TitleDISC Open :)
Thanks again to Mesquite Sports Center, Gateway Disc Sports, and the City of Mesquite. And a really big thanks to everyone who came out to play!

Mar 29 2009, 11:30 PM
oh, and everyone played the same tees the second round, plus the Intermediate guys did well and the Open guys didn't light it up quite as well as they could have... so the ratings (IMO) are right about where they should be. C'est la vie, I reckon

baldguy
Apr 02 2009, 04:13 PM
you know I don't set the ratings, right? :)
FWIW - the players who shot 56 that second round were rated: 988, 976, 975, 950, 928, 932, and 913 (plus one player that wasn't rated). The average of those ratings is 951.7, the median is 950. I think 962 is a good rating for that round. it's only 28 points below your rating, which is just under 3 strokes on that course. I know you could have easily shot 3 strokes better... a 53 was rated 994, just 6 points higher than your rating. Last year, on the same course, a 56 was rated 952. a 55 (what you shot last year) was rated 963 last year. This year's wind most likely made the 10-11 point difference.
You'll get a chance at redemption in October, should you choose to accept the challenge :)
testap
Apr 02 2009, 05:08 PM
you dont make the ratings? :p Yeah, I was just expressing a little agression!! I mean I didn't play my best but I didn't think it was bad enough to take a rating bashing either.. I think I shall accept the next challenge and hopefully cancel out Squite poop ratings! Thx for an awesome tourney, and props on on your new hats. They are SAAWEEEET!!
