and multiple locals not in yet as well

we always fill but this seems faster than years past. i guess the word is out quality Course + quality Club = a tourney u don't want to miss. Send money or i will put you in the junior girls under 13 list (that's is where i will start the waiting list)

bgwvdave

not just saying this because i'm local.
this was my first tourney in 08' and the best run event i've been to.
castle is awesome and will be in the best shape ever. three, possibly four tuck brothers will be in attendance and if you miss it too bad. i waited a little last year and barely made it on the waiting list.

heres to the dub town classic AKA Azalea

Mr. Dave - OFDA will be bringing a few CTP's (If that is cool?)

This will by my first tourny down there and I have heard nothing but "Top Shelf" comments about it!

Any Sports preferences for the CTP's that I bring??? A few may know what I am talking about.. for those that don't I have brought unopened boxes / sets of sports cards to a few past tournies. So... do I need to bring a couple PSA 10 graded cards??? or something real old like a tobacco card??? If I don't get any feedback I will just bring some troll cards.

Or LMK if they are stupid!!! LOL

Trig out

(Ya'll think about coming down to Scott's tourny next Month here in jville / richlands)

I can e-mail you a flyer if you need it.

You know as i was updating our super sick web site (not sure if everyone is familiar with it)
www.newhanoverdgc.com (http://www.newhanoverdgc.com)

and i started to realize what a historic year 2008 was.

We had our largest first place Pro cash of $450.00

We also had our course record broke by 2 strokes.

i thought Hofmann's 54 was hoTT in 2007 but Schwebby's 52 the last round of 08 was unreal. (it was really nice being able to persent schwebb with his first win at the Castle. i know he had been waiting a long time for that one)

then i realized something else happened last year that no one had ever been able to do in the 6 years of the event.

Schwebby shot all 4 rounds in the 50's. first time ever. he barley did it with a 59 one round but wow 4 rounds sub 60 amazing!!

if anyone would care to check some of the records at the castle they are all here to see
History Books (http://www.newhanoverdgc.com/records.html)

Would love to write some new History this year. we are already off to a sick start filling the event faster than ever. 5 days.

Schwebby shot all 4 rounds in the 50's. first time ever. he barley did it with a 59 one round but wow 4 rounds sub 60 amazing!!

The dang monsoon winds and tornado like whether at the end of round 3 in '07 kept me from the sub 60's all 4 rnds. The 7 on 18 to finish in the 30-40mph winds got me for a 63. (Someone should have called it but....) I did manage to shoot a 59 with a snowman on my card the last round, lol. Can't wait to get back there again this year! Thanks for all the hard work Dave!

way to far back for a tournament a week away.

What is the pin placement going to be for the event?

: ) :

bgwvdave
Apr 09 2009, 02:16 PM
we will play Hole 1 in the Alt position. which is the straight shot 285' (same placement we played last year) and weather permitting we will play 15 in the Alt long position (same placement as last year) witht he rain we have gotten the last few weeks it got a little soggy back there but we have spread mulch on the green and that went a long way to firming it up. i think as long as the rain stays moderate for the next 9 days we will be golden. if we do get alot of rain we will just play Hole 15 in the OG position. OG and alt are approx. 80' apart.

Great people, great course, great weather, great food, great event, and great tournament! This was my last event in the US as of now and I had a blast. I tied my PB in one round, so what more can I ask for? (I know, better golf *lol*) It was great ending my time here with my local, and I call it home-club. A perfect way to end my time here. Really enjoyed it all with the huge disc golf family from NC!!!

!!!THANKS FOR THE GOOD TIME EVERYBODY!!!

PS: If anybody ever makes it to Germany, you better look me up! ;)

Way to go Port City! Great time. Rocky, great (as usual) jerky! Thanks.

Vielleicht werden wir uns wieder auf dem Konkurrenz-Feld in Deutschland, meinem Freund treffen. Das ganze Beste zu Ihnen!

Great tournament Deacon, Good shooting LL, and thank you Brian Mcree (great win!) for playing open.

Wow, I had a blast! The course looked amazing and the weather was incredible. The event ran silky smooth and lunck on site is always a plus.....especially when your wife is out shopping with the car and the card. Thanks to everyone involved in such a great event! Good job Big Wave!

Dave, once again thanks for the place to stay, and thanks for running another awesome event!! I absolutely love this event, and will not miss it unless something unusual happens. Thanks to all who contributed to helping run the tournament, and making the course look spectacular. By the way, a 1025 rating for a 55? lol.. As I have always said and I think everyone (except Chuck, lol just kidding!) will agree, I find it hard to believe that Kenny or anyone rated in the 1030's could possibly average a 54 on that course for 4 rounds!! See everyone next year!

2nd. if you rounded up 25 players rated in the 4 digits you would have a much more accurate ssa (hmmmm.. lets say right about 60.25) for castle pain. i had a great time, tough/ fair course, well run and big wave- you are da man (as always sir). a piece of advice for those in the future who plan on playing in an upcoming tournament... dont use your face/ throwing shoulder to break your fall on concrete while running full speed while smashed drunk, uh... ive tried that and it doesn't work.

Thanks JJ " i know that was a good tournament" :D (inside joke from "fundamentals" i am no where near this cocky in real life (( close but not that bad)))

no but seriously thanks EVERYONE for the kind words. as always from the inside there where some things that could have gone smoother but from the majority of people i have talked to and heard from it seems to have been a successful event.

I am super stoked that fun was had and that people enjoyed themselves at Castle Payne again this year. you guys keep comin we will keep runnin events......maybe more than one a year :o

Once again, nothing but a fantastic time at The Azalea! I know I mentioned this to Dave but I want to post this for all club members and volunteers as well. This weekend confirmed for me that this is my favorite course I have played. I love the fact that it is a par 64. You have to make a lot of good golf shots and manage the course. IMO, that's the way it be. The fact that the course is spotless and kept up as well as it is only makes it that much more of an experience. Thanks to all who helped make this weekend a blast! This one of a few dates that I keep in the back of my head and look forward to(along with my anniversary).

I enjoyed every minute of the tourney as well as the great and friendly competition. I even got to see someone try to digest his mini. Thanks Joe! ;-)

Awesome weekend!! Thanks!
