how similar are these to the d buzzz?
flying and/or rolling?
thanks

I have two CryZtal Buzzz in my bag and one Meteor. The ESP Meteor is the furthest flying mid-range disc that I have ever thrown. It holds a very nice anhyzer line or just flies dead straight. I highly recommend trying one out.

I would say the meteor is less stable and has more glide.

If you compared a D Buzz and a Meteor at the same weight it would seem like the Meteor was lighter. It is a little quicker, has more lift, and a longer carry than a D Buzz. Stabilities on the Meteor range from true stable (holds any line) to moderately understable (hyzer release for straight flight). I like the flippier ones because I throw the Buzz for true lines and the Meteor for shots where need the disc to be turning late in its flight.

The Meteor will never get old, and the D Buzzz will beat-in after a few rounds.
I love the Meteor. I throw it on tons of right turning shots or straight shots with little power.

When comparing these to a D Buzzz are you talking about a D or ESP Meteor? Also how would you compare the flight between the D and ESP Meteors?

Alright, I'm losing it this morning! For some reason I was thinking of the Zone and not the Meteor while reading this thread.

How does a Meteor compare to a Comet?

I basically think the Meteor is a faster wannabe Comet.

The main difference is the Meteor is smaller diameter than buzzz or comet. I prefer the Meteor over both. Of my 15 career aces two of them in sanctioned play happened with the same Meteor! So it's money for me!

The meteor isn't a wannabe comet, its successfully better. ;)

I have not thrown the Comet much. I have played with it a little. It seems to me like you have to be more gentle with the Comet. The Meteor, you can throw as hard as you want and it will glide forever.
It is an awesome disc.

How about a comparison between a Buzzz SS and a Meteor? I've begun to take a liking on the Buzzz SS but I was thinking if there is something a Meteor would be better at.

good question.. I really like the Buzzz ss it has found a permanent spot in my bag. I like it for rollers because of its speed. Lots of fun to throw a flip up hyzer as well, although the Meteor is probably similar in that regard from what I'm reading. Overall I think the Buzzz ss is a faster disc than the Meteor so that has it's pluses and minuses.

Last year I really took a liking to the Buzz SS, but now I throw the Meteor. I found the Buzz SS to be a true stable disc with a ton of glide. It basically flies on the same lines as a Buzz but is a little more speed sensitive. For example, if you throw a Buzz hard and flat it flies really straight, and if you throw it a little harder the flight is basically the same, just longer or with a later fade. The Buzz SS has a speed at which it becomes understable, and it was hit or miss for me. I decided that it was not that different than my Buzz, and for those lines the Buzz is more consistent.
The Meteors I throw are more understable than a Buzz SS. Their flight lines never really mimic a Buzz as the disc spends more time flipping and moving in the air than the Buzz or the Buzz SS. The Meteor also seems to get more lift when flying turned over giving it more forward penetration while turning. Not to mention it is cheaper and more widely available than the Buzz SS.
The Buzz SS is a great disc in its own right, but the Meteor fits better into my lineup.

WOuldn't say it's better than a beat Roc IMO. It has great glide and you don't have to beat it. It flies like a beat Roc brand new with a bit more glide. For someone looking for a anny disc with tons of glide w/o having to break it in it's their disc for Roc Fans like myself nothing beats a Broke in KC PRO or better yet a 2002 USDGC Roc, these have just as much glide as a meteor, but real pricey LOL

Can't beat a meteor. Out of the box it is so easy for turnover approaches. The this thing never stops gliding. It just plain goes. The biggest problem I have with the meteor is that sometimes I find myself throwing it too far! (not just my own words, but it is true) If I throw it with some hyzer, it will flip up and go straight as an arrow. (Check out what the discraft pro's have to say about them on their website)
I used to throw a DX Ontario Roc and the meteor took the place in the bag. The DX plastic beat up too quickly, and I needed something more durable. The meteor is available in ESP plastic, so I will most likely lose the disc before it wears out. It's only recently that rocs became available in throwers for a decent price to throw.
If I am at a tournament and lose this disc, I don't have to worry about having another perfectly seasoned back-up to replace it with. I just roll over to my stash and grab another brand-new one, and it does the same thing as my last!
I've never seen anyone roll a meteor, that I can think of. I know a Pro who rolls the stratus for short rollers, and another who rolls putters... but haven't ever seen a metoer roll.
Obviously the Roc is a very good and popular disc. It's been time tested and proven, and pretty much all the top Innova Pro's use them. But hey, I am not a top Innova pro, and the Roc just doesn't do it for ME. Do yourself a favor and at least try a meteor. Heck, if you don't like it, I will trade you one of my Rocs for it :)

I have an ESP meteor. It is like a buzz but it carries further and holds an anhyzer a little nicer. You can't go wrong with one. Sometimes I catch myself using it as a fairway driver.

I'm now testing one out, it's a first run 177g, so I hope they're the same. From the few throws I threw all were all flip hyzer and they definably pop up and glide straight, like a faster putter, deadly accurate. Nothing like any Z Buzzz 177g+ though. If you throw in dense woods and want a lot of deuces then try these. Not exactly like a beat roc either, more like a less stable aviar with much more speed. Sick!

Another success story. Glad to hear you like the meteor. And the First runs are no doubt the better of the runs of the meteors for me.

Kelsey's Ace at K'zoo Worlds was with an ESP Meteor. It was a lefty hyzer/righty anhyzer hole about 220 feet down a tunnel in the woods.
I have ten of them left in my season ending sale.

Really good sale. See the link in the signature line for details.
Also, in the Final Nine when her lead was eroding because Paige can bomb and Kelsey was out of gas, she really needed to park this basket on a 200 to 250 foot upshot. The basket was on a promontory with steep drop offs on three sides. She asked my advice. I told her to look at the basket but not think about it, and then grab the disc she felt confident with. She grabbed the Meteor and parked the basket.

I don't understand your post. I always interpreted "true stable" to indicate a lack of speed sensitivity. That is, they go dead straight (before the fade) when thrown flat almost independently of how fast they're thrown (e.g. Teebird.) I thought the whole point of "true stable" is to distinguish it from "speed stable". By "speed stable" I mean that you're disc really isn't stable, actually it's quite flippy at high speed, you just can' throw it fast enough to tell. In other words, the instant it leaves your hand it's practically in the "fade" portion of its flight. (for instance the Boss.)
This entirely contradicts your comments about the Buzzz SS. What do you mean?
I'm huge fan of the Buzzz and have always wanted to try the Buzzz SS, so I'm curious how they fly (and why they weren't kept as a stock Discraft disc.) I now throw the Meteor too and find it's way easier and more predictable to throw a long turnover shot that holds right forever with the Meteor, than it is to do the same with a really beat Buzzz. I find the Buzzz to be more nose angle sensitive, making it harder to throw it way up in the air (though I don't have this problem with Hyzer shots for some reason.) It seems like the line between stall-out and roller is thinner for the beat Buzzz than it is for the Meteor. The Meteor holds onto an anhyzer fade a lot more easily than the Buzzz.

I don't understand that old post either...Posting and working at the same time is sometimes hazardous.
I agree with your understanding of true stable as a disc that is stable at a wide range of speeds. I think what I was trying to describe about the Buzzz SS is that it is less nose angle sensitive than a Buzzz and tends to fly straighter despite the position of the nose in flight. It still gets much less lift when flying anhyzer than a Meteor, so as soon as it flips it is losing altitude fast. So it was also harder to get the Buzzz SS to go through a gap and then track right as it was always fighting straight and flying on very muted turns or diving into the ground if I put zip on it.
Everything else you said about the Meteor I agree with 100%. Your post actually says almost verbatim what I posted on discgolfreview on another Buzzz Vs. Meteor thread.

The Meteor is less stable with a little more glide. The Buzzz for me is my all purpose mid-range. But when I really need some right-to-left I pull out my Meteor.
If you are looking for an understable mid range disc try out an Innova Sting Ray...it definitely does the job.

Everyone needs to try out a first run Meteor and then come back and give reviews on how different the flights are on the reg production and the FR. The first run meteors have much more stability to them and glide much longer

How does a Meteor compare to a Comet?
A comet is a meteor before it enters Earth's atmosphere.... :p
