As you can see from the flyer listed here (http://www.pfds.org/Ironwood2009flier.pdf) there is a $10 late fee for entries sent after April 12th. That's one month from today. Don't delay, sign up now for this Tournament. If anything it will be great practice for the Scholl's Bicycle Center Pittsburgh Flying Disc Open. Three rounds at one of the best courses in the country, how can you go wrong!

From the Desk of Gotcher...
The Moraine Monthly is this Saturday (3/21) and it will be a mixer!
10:00 am start
Entry Fee $10 ($11 for non-current PFDS members)
Eagle Pot is currently at $52 (extra $1)
The forecast is calling for a sunny day with a high around 50 degrees so the weather is going to be nice for a round of disc golf. This week we moved a lot of the baskets into different locations.....some shorter, some longer....a good variety overall.
1c 2c 3a 4c 5b 6a 7a 8a 9b 10b 11b 12b 13b 14c 15b 16b 17c 18b
We are asking for players to stick around after the event/lunch and help clean up the course in preparation for next month's tournaments: the Lakeview Course Championship (4/11) and the Ironwood Open (4/18-19).
Our main focus will be the debris removal on holes 9 & 18. We will have chainsaws to cut up the trees, but we need folks to help drag the cuttings away from the fairway. It shouldn't take very long if we have folks available to lend a hand. Also, Josh Arnette (the PFDS Mule) spent a lot of time raking hole 12 and it looks great, but we need to remove the leaf piles from that hole. I will bring a tarp and a couple of rakes so we can clean up this hole which should not take much time.
Lastly, players will notice orange tape throughout the course as we have identified items we would like removed (low branches, dead trees, olive bushes, etc). Myself the the Butler boys will work on these prunings and cuttings over the next couple of weeks. Most of these markings are on the existing fairways and greens, however, you will notice some areas tagged and flagged which are not part of the present-day course. These areas are proposed sites for additional pin placements for added variety. The holes marked for additional pin placements include: 2, 4, 8, 10, 14, 16, 18.
Don't let volunteer work discourage you from attending this Saturday's Moraine Monthly. If you can't work, but you can play, we want you anyway!

Can't wait for the Ironwood. WE have at least 2 am ladies playing, we need more girls!!!!
Sid, how about paying out all of the am women to help entice them??
On that note, I am signing up today.
The course looks great, and will be in stellar condition for the tournament.
FYI, it appears there will be another course going in at Moraine in the not-so-distant future, and the park has FINALLY approved tee pads. The pads should be done in time for PFDO.

Registration starts at 7am until 8am.
Players meeting - 8:15am

This is the TD's call but thats what I'm suggesting considering I'm doing the sign ins. We have 18 groups of 5 and can't delay the start for someone who sleeps in. So, be on time, PLEASE!

Pittsburgh players won every division except pro women and pro masters!!! Nice shooting guys.
I had a feeling that 59 wouldn't make 1000 Kurt :) Too many people shot so much better today than yesterday. But the wind was totally dead on Sunday which I think lowered the scores. Nice shooting everyone.
Hope you all had as much as I did, even if I didn't make 1 putt longer than 25 feet all weekend :)
Tomorrow is putting practice day.
pretty awesome we had 9 women, though I wish Sid would have paid all of them out, especially the ones who wanted to play Intermediate and had to move to advance. If we want the women to keep coming, we have to make it rewarding for them.

The Pittsburgh Flying Disc Society is at the forefront of encouraging and rewarding women in disc golf, imo. I don't know of many clubs who add $10/woman to every division a woman enters.
Keep up the great work, PFDS!
