I want to get some preliminary info out there about this upcoming event. The Wichita Falls club has asked us to come run a two-day B-Tier tournament! We'll be using Lucy park and JC park. The club is working hard getting their courses ready to go!

Entry fee information and online registration will be available this week. We should be able to handle 200 players without a problem, and Wichita Falls is convenient for OKC *and* DFW. There will be a players pack for *all* amateurs, and added cash for *all* pros. We will have plenty of cool TitleDISC merchandise and some awesome fundraiser discs with the tournament logo!

Stay tuned for more updates :)

Online registration is now available on the new www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) !!

We already have over $1000 in added cash and merchandise. All Ams will receive a tournament t-shirt in their players packs and the pros are playing for quite a bit more than their entry fees. The Wichita Falls Disc Golf Club is coming through bigtime to make this event a success.

Remember that this is a pre-registration-only event. We usually fill before the day of the event, but even if we don't - the City of Wichita Falls will not allow us to take registrations in the park. Strange, but true. The tournament page on www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) has mail-in info as well. Get signed up ASAP!

The WF disc golf club continues to come up big in support of this event! Calvert has helped us secure a Howard Johnson's as the host hotel with a discounted rate of $59.95/night. Here's the info:

http://www.hojo.com/HowardJohnson/control/Booking/property_info?propertyId=00957

Deidre and I will be staying there, and we will be having a player's party in the bar/restaurant there on Saturday night! They're offering discounted breakfast for all disc golfers along with the special room rate. When you call to book, be sure to mention that you want the rate for the Wichita Falls Open Disc Golf Tournament. We're proud to list the local HoJo as a sponsor for this event!

I've ordered CFR Maxes and CFR XCalibers along with Champion Monarchs and DX San Marino Rocs, all with the tournament stamp. We'll also have some cool Titledisc apparel and discs.... now including Innova, Millennium and Discraft!

Registrations are already coming in. remember that this is a pre-reg only event, so get signed up today!

Interest is really starting to grow for this event. 4 more weeks!

I've also ordered a bunch of limited edition TitleDISC 10-year anniversary discs. 8 different molds of Innova plastic will be made with this stamp. These along with other TitleDISC discs and gear will be available in payout. We should have the largest selection for this tournament that we've ever brought to an event. About 1000 discs plus bags, shirts, hats, and other gear. I just hope it can all fit in our trailer :)

See you in Wichita Falls!

I've taken a few trips up to Wichita Falls and they have a pretty sweet mix of 2 courses with a combination of long holes and short holes with some definite ace runs! I live in the Metroplex but couldn't pass up the opportunity to hit up this tourney. Hope to see you all there!

already have quite a few signed up from the WF area, plus some from DFW. This isn't going to be a small event :). Spread the word...

Here's an incentive - I'm going to pick 3 random entries from the first 50 who enter, and each will receive at least $20 in TitleDISC merch! I say "at least" because I've been known to get randomly generous... :D

Due to other sports seasons starting, my t-shirt printer is starting to get backed up. That means I need to get the t-shirt order in this week. If you are wanting to get on the list of t-shirt sponsors, I need to know within the next couple of days.

Just $100 to get your company or club's logo featured on the back of the shirts, plus on two teesigns! send me an email - josh@titledisc.com - if you're interested!

we have a few more sponsors in, and some mail-in entries that I will be posting today. Looks like a lot of added cash and merch. Those of you who have played TitleDISC events in the past know that I pay out heavily to all divisions. With all this sponsor support, payouts should be even better than usual :). Top that off with a nice host hotel, players party... you don't want to miss this one!

T-shirt sponsors are cut off as of today, since I'm sending the design out to be printed today. We do still have banner and teesign sponsorships available. This is going to be the biggest event Wichita Falls has seen in a long time... maybe ever :). Get signed up today @ http://www.titledisc.com

registration is coming in kinda slow, but we do have 12 players signed up so far. We have over $1000 in sponsorship already accounted for. It looks like we'll be featuring all 4 major brands of plastic at this event - Innova, Discraft, Gateway, and Millennium!

Don't forget about the free stuff we're giving away, not to mention the players party we have lined up at the host hotel. Be sure to mention the Wichita Falls Open when booking your room, to get the discount.

Weather is looking great and the courses are in great shape. I'll be in town the Friday before the event (3/6) to run doubles. $30/team for the cash division and $20/team for ams, 18 holes at Lucy Park. Bring your own partner and come have some fun!

I have been fielding calls about this event nearly every day. I think some people are waiting to see what the weather will be like, but according to the 10-day forecast from weather.com, we should have temps in the 70s! I know of folks coming from Kansas, Dallas, East Texas, and Oklahoma. This should be a very diverse field!

More sponsorships are in. I can now guarantee at least $500 for 1st place Open! Ams won't miss out on the added cash, either. I'm adding at least $300 in merchandise to the advanced field. Payout is going to be sick :)

The addition of two b-tiers in DFW the weekend before this event might have crimped some pocketbooks, but I assure you - the trip will be worth it. I'm even hoping to save some of the sponsor cash for the players party on Sat. night :D

If I weren't going to World Dubs the following weekend of Wichita Falls Open, I would most def take a stab at that 1st place $500 open purse. Will just play advanced and try to get my 1st W. That is very nice. Im guessing that even the better open players in this area have not had a cash of that amount. It's here for the taking. Sign up!

If you have not played a Titledisc Tourney, Josh runs them as good as the best of em! I plan on going to as many as I can. Just a little over a week away. It's going down in The Falls.

Tournament-stamped discs have arrived! If anyone local to DFW would like to pick up a CFR for this event before I head out to Wichita Falls on the 6th, I have Maxes and XCalibers available for $25 each. all proceeds go right back into the tournament, of course :)

Come on Calvert, step it up..You think you could even cash? You probably be second to Anthony in advanced. He's got to be the definition of "AM for Life"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

There was about 4-5 tourneys that I would have cashed had I played open. So yeah, I do like my chances of cashing. but I got to keep my amature status for World dubs and possible KC worlds. Anthony is a great competitor and has won his fair share of Advanced tourneys. No shame in finishing behind that guy.

I will probably end up picking up 2-3 CFR disc Josh when you get into town. advance field is growing, keep em coming. Wichita Falls welcomes you. hope to see a few Women D Golfers too.

I got a call last night about a couple driving up from Big Spring, so we just might have some more lady golfers. I might even talk Deidre into playing :)

Man, these discs look sweet. Many of the CFRs got pretty swirly. There's one I just had to keep for myself. It's one of the coolest-looking discs I've ever ordered. Don't worry, that cash is getting added, too :D

Giles and I are planning on playing.

Giles
Feb 27 2009, 11:09 AM
Haleigh and I are probably going to make this one. I just have to look at my disc golf budget. We played Crowley's Ice bowel last weekend and are playing the two McKinney tournaments this weekend. W.F. is next weekend then Am world doubles right after that. We are taking a trip out to California the weekend after doubles. I'm not sure what division Haleigh will play if we make it, she is playing rec men this weekend.

baldguy
Feb 27 2009, 12:05 PM
Ice bowel? sounds painful. :D

I hope you two can make it. You will get to witness the largest spread of merch that we've ever offered! Don't forget about the players' party, either. There will be no shortage of free stuff to be had, plus this two-day is cheaper to enter than either of the one-days this weekend.

Giles
Feb 27 2009, 12:26 PM
It was very painfull...
Cost is relative, if I can get some plastic out of this weekend on courses I know, I'll be ok. Next weekend I'll be playing blind. I've got to drive 2.5 hours and pay for a hotel. I'm up in the air on if I want to drive out after work Friday or wake up early Saturday.

Got a couple more Pros on the list, plus I've heard that a carpool is coming in from Lubbock! The local club tells me that a dozen or more will be signing up when I get into town on Friday, too. $500 guaranteed for first place Open tends to get some attention :)

5 days and counting!

baldguy
Mar 03 2009, 12:17 PM
registrations are starting to come in faster now. Just got a call from Big Spring, looks like several are coming up from there. 30 already signed up, plus about 20 that are planning to register on Friday. Weather is shaping up nicely! Low of 56, high of 76 both days.

We'll be rolling in about noon on Friday to play the courses and make any last-minute tweaks to OB rules, etc. Can't wait for Friday!

My flex dubs partner does not get off work till about 4, what time will you allow the last card to go out Josh?

baldguy

well I can let cards go out until about 5:00 but you might be finishing in the dark. Time change happens saturday night, but till then it still gets dark early :)

Mar 05 2009, 12:57 PM
Looks like we have quite a few folks wanting to sign up tomorrow, so if you're one of those people please find us at Lucy Park after about 2:00pm tomorrow, or call my cell: 214-868-2996 if you can't find us :).

Saturday morning we will have the players meeting at 9:00am sharp, and expect to be on your teeboxes ready to start at 9:45. We are going to start earlier on Sunday to give folks a chance to get home at a reasonable hour, though if we have fewer than 100 players I don't see the need for a cut. If we get 100 or more, we will do the cashline cut before the final round, as planned.

Less than 24 hours and we'll be on the road! See you all in Wichita Falls!

FYI - online registration will be left open until 9pm tomorrow night. I've been taking calls all day about this tournament. Looks like a good turnout! Come see what Wichita Falls has to offer - come get you a part of all this added cash and merch!

I can't say enough about how much the WF group has done to make this tournament happen. I've worked with a lot of clubs in a lot of cities. This club is tops!

Quite a battle going on right now for the big money. The Open field is playing for *over* $1200 in payout, with first place getting $500!

Players party coming up in a couple hours. Live music, booze, and plenty of horror stories to tell about playing in today's 30+ mph winds :). Tomorrow should be calmer and the scores should drop. If you skipped this one, you missed out ;)

We had an absolute blast putting on this tournament! The Wichita Falls group made sure that all the work was overshadowed by great times with friends. We got to hang out with some old friends and make some new ones at the same time. We've already been invited to come back next year and we can't wait! The 2010 Wichita Falls Open will be even bigger and even better. Mark your calendars folks :)

This is a little late but I just wanted to echo how much the WFDGC really appreciated the quality event that Titledisc put on here in The Falls. Players pack was phat with T-shirt and Champion Tournament stamped disc. Free beer at the players party. Great payouts! What more could you want...Thank You again Josh and Deidre
