The 2009 PDGA National Tour makes its fourth stop in beautiful Pawhuska, Oklahoma at The Lodge on April 25th & 26th. The Green Country Open is presented by Twisted Flyer.com , powered by Innova Champion Discs and hosted by the Tulsa Disc Sports Association. This event will be co-directed by Joe Rotan, Oklahoma State Coordinator and veteran Tournament Director and Michael Treat whom has been a major influence in the Tulsa Disc Sports Association. Both of these men have been at the helm of large tournaments and are both administrators in the TDSA, the club that brought you 2006 Am Worlds.
The ranch is owned by Jim and Debbie Taylor who are both cordial and accommodating hosts. The property features two courses designed by veteran Tour Pro Kevin McCoy and are set in the hills of Osage Indian country and feature many awesome views and challenging shots. There are many elevation changes and varied terrain to consider when playing the courses. Errant shots are punished so bring your A game and get ready for a great time in a beautiful slice of the American heartland at a fantastic private Disc Golf getaway!
We are pleased to announce that Kevin McCoy and Courtney Peavy will be married on the green of the Island hole Thursday evening at Sunset. The ceremony will be officiated by none other than Jay Reading.
There will be more than enough to keep you busy as the TDs have some great events and activities planned. Area legend Jeff Ash will join forces with VictoryFireworksInc.com for numerous displays over the weekend. There will also be a Big Money Doubles presented by the Tulsa Disc Sports Association on Friday, with the qualifying round on Thursday. This will be a great opportunity to check out the two tracks. The Innova Groove Party will be held in the Bar and Grill which is also where professional chef Jeremy Taylor will be satisfying the Tours culinary needs. There will be live entertainment on the Bar & Grill stage and there is a casino about 10 miles down the road as well.
This event is powered by Innova Champion Discs. The Green Country Open will debut new and exciting products from Innova. From the new environmentally friendly tee signs to the soon to be hottest disc on Earth, the Eco Star Groove. A limited number of these discs will be released with the official tournament stamp designed by Skeet Scienski. Discs will be available at TwistedFlyer.com.
For those who arent able to make it, but still want to check out this great course, the Lodge will provide a live Webcast of the event which will provide a great opportunity for the folks back home to monitor the tournament progress.
The host hotel will be the La Quinta Inn in nearby Bartlesville, Oklahoma which is a short 40 minute drive from the course. This hotel features an indoor pool, free high-speed internet, continental breakfast, and a fitness center. We have secured a special rate of $60.00 per night. Please use PDGA code when registering for the special rate. You must call to receive your rate, it will not be valid with online bookings. The hotel phone # is 918-331-9151.
Hotel website: http://www.lq.com/lq/properties/propertyProfile.do?ident=LQ6440&propId=6440
The Lodge features camping and RV hook-ups. There is a new bath house with showers and other amenities. Camping and RV space is limited so please contact Jim Taylor at 918-846-2257 to secure your reservations.
This years NT will have a special twist. One of the holes will be worth $10,000.00 if you ace it!!

Andrew / Michael Treat a.k.a Team T-N-T will have the ECO STAR GROOVE and other exciting models in Tulsa this weekend. If you live in Tulsa please purchase yours from them and save shipping and state taxes.
Also... never one to preach or steer anyone...
If you need a disc over the next 2 months please try to purchase it from Green Country Open stock or hosts. In these economic times sponsorship is VERY HARD to get. The proceeds from your disc purchases make up for what sponsors have tightened the belt on. Your support of the very attractive, quality, well priced discs will help ensure our traveling friends leave TULSA... AMAZED as always.

These new grooves are sweet! I know they are a fundraiser for the NT event, but if you are debating on getting one due to the cost, you may want to reconsider. 1st, I have it from a very reliable source that in the last three days since they were put up for sale, they have flown out the door and continue to go fast. There were only 500 to start with and that number is going down about as fast as this disc is. /msgboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
So if you were thinking about waiting until they go into general production, you may be waiting until the summer sometime. :o
Get-em while you can!
I have thrown the test models and they are like a super fast straight to long turn over. I compare it to being a Roadrunner or Sidewinder on steroids.

Just got off the phone with a local cable TV company out of Bartlesville. They will be here next sunday to do interviews and shoot some video for an upcoming program, probably to be aired first part of April but well before the NT. Also, we leave for Chicago on the 10th to meet with the ESPN people so keep us in your prayers. :D

Hosts from TV Show Live . . . from Bartlesville
Will Be Interviewing Disc Golf Players and Club Members
Visiting the Lodge at Taylor Ranch - - March 7th and 8th, 2009
Co-hosts Sharon Hurst and Joel Rabin, from the TV variety show Live . . . from Bartlesville, will be conducting video interviews with Club members and Disc Golf players visiting the Lodge at Taylor Ranch this coming Saturday and Sunday, March 7th and 8th.
Sharon and Joel recently visited with Jim Taylor at his Lodge . . . along with a discourse from Jim on the sport of Disc Golf . . . and got a teeth-jarring Jeep tour of both tournament quality 18-hole courses that are being rapidly developed at the Lodge. Aside from having their brains flattened by hitting their heads on Jims bouncing Wrangler Jeep, they also left the Lodge with a great interest and desire to help promote the sport.
Sharon and Joel will conduct interviews and videotape action shots of everyone at work and at play during the weekend, with the intent of developing several segments for their upcoming TV Shows about the sport of Disc Golf, its players, upcoming national tournaments and the Lodge at Taylor Ranch. They will also offer their video interviews and TV segments to the Lodge for promotional, marketing and advertising purposes.
Live from Bartlesville is shown every Thursday evening from 7:00 to 7:30 pm on Tri-City TVs cable station 59, serving the Bartlesville, Dewey and Nowata area of northeast Oklahoma. Their TV show can also be seen on Tri-City TVs Internet site: www.tri-citytv.net. (http://www.tri-citytv.net.) All shows are available On Demand 24/7 at the site. Registering for site access is free - and be sure to log-in each time you go there.
The video interviews with various people on Saturday (a work day) and Sunday (a play day) will be relatively short and run about 1 to 2 minutes each. The interviews will cover a variety of topics that will be of interest to both the general public and Disc Golf fans. Sharon and Joel plan to ask those of you willing to participate to talk about two or three of the following topics (dont worry . . . no one will be asked to respond to all of these):
1. The history of the Disc Golf sport.
2. How and why did you first became involved in the sport?
3. What do you enjoy most about the sport?
4. Do you have some personal stories about your involvement in the sport? The funniest? The scariest? The most heart-warming?
5. What about the overall design ands special features of the Lodges two new 18-hole courses? And how about the experience of actually playing on them?
6. What do you think about Kevin McCoy, the designer of the Lodges two courses? And what about his upcoming wedding at the lodge next month?
7. What about the upcoming national Disc Golf tournament here at Jim Taylors Lodge on April 25th and 26th? Do you plan to participate or come to watch?
8. Have you been to Jim Taylors Lodge before? If yes, why? To play golf? What else?
9. What do you think about the Lodge facilities and all of the different activities that are offered here to families and individuals?

We need to know how many guys can work on Friday to pour concrete. I know plenty of you can work on Saturday and Sunday and you are needed but the problem is, we can't get a concrete truck on the weekends. Firday will be the best days to pour. Not sure if they all can be done this Friday or not but its a start and we should be able to finish all of them in two days of pouring.

A couple of guys from KC are there and some of the DD crew are there to work but I know more hands will make for lighter work.

i was glad to see Coda, Gary,Josh, Jim, Deb, Ron , Mark and four others that i don't know their names.
when i arrived at around 3:00 there were 2 concrete trucks there and Jim was running bucket fulls of concrete Deb and others were mucking and screeding,Mark and Gary were magging and edging as fast as they could.
With an inexpierianced group of people the pads didnt turn out half bad. the only pad poured that we couldn't save was the white tee on hole three it had set up too hard to mag by the time we could get to it.
i don't know the total count completed but i would say progress is good.
maybe for the next pour we can round up some more help as this was an immense undertaking for the crew there today i applaud everyone's efforts today.
thanks to the Talors for their efforts to provide a top notch facillity for all of us to enjoy.

just returned from the lodge, the tee pads turned out real nice considering the the amount of concrete poured vs the available help. turns out there were 3 that we were unable to finish properly 17 white, 3 blue and white, while they don't look nice i think they will work ok, and on another note we will be pouring another 6 pads on thursday those will be more manageable than the 20 on wed since we will be done during daylight hours and not working by truck headlights. there were grass fires in all directions wed, the drive up looks a little charred now. going home you could see the orange glow and east of barnsdall the fire line appeared to be at least a mile long

Many THANKS to my teammates at Innova for once again coming thru for The GCO at Lodge! The UPS guy dropped off 36 new Innova tee signs made of GREEN ECO plastic! Once JT and the crew get the mapping done and drop them in these frames, they can be spiked in the ground... GREEN style. very flexible and can be used over and over again.
Good job on the Tee's and Thanks to all that helped!

Jim has two concrete trucks coming tomorrow morning.
Hopefully we can pour all 18 pads and be done with the major construction part on the courses.
If there is anyway you can make it please do.
All of your help will come back to you in good karma!!!
Please post up if you can help so we can get a feel for the # of people coming.
I am guessing around 10:00 but Joe or I will post a definite time soon..

I ditto what Treat has said above. Having just got home at 8:15 from the Lodge tonight, with plans to go back after my first delivery in the morning (yep, all this and a day job!)we are entering the home stretch. You guys KNOW me... I call it straight out and go BIG at every opportunity and this is one we all must seize.
As Treat said we (Taylors, TDSA and the event) have asked a bunch of you since the beginning of this project, and everyone has come thru to the best of their abilities which I / We TOTALLY appreciate. It is at this time I feel it best to point out that this is the LAST day / chance to get these pads in on the Creek course. We really need all the help we can get. We have 3 events this weekend that will pull everyone in different directions so that leaves manyana and Monday.
As someone who puts in HUNDREDS of hours each year growing, promoting and volunteering for our sport I know what I am asking of you and I would not ask if I did not feel it was absolutely what we needed to do to put our best foot forth.
Numerous World Champs will be here and EVERY USDGC Champion will be in the house, let's show em' our swagger! Sure the courses already rock, let's just go the extra...
Post here, call Treat or myself or simply just show up at the Lodge tomorrow... we all know where it's at. If you have a homie without a computer, let em' know for us.
Thanks!
Joe

Big shout out to my boy A Hunt! First place after round 1, played with the top players in the world all weekend, final round he's carded with Feldberg, Jenkins, and Rico, goes for the island on 17 while everyone else was laying up, makes it on after OB dispute, sinks birdie putt with hundreds looking on, takes down some of the biggest names in our sport, places 9th is his first NT ever, and wins his spot in the USDGC for '09. And shoots 59 points above is rating average for the weekend to do all of this.

I would like to thank Joe Rotan, Mike Treat and most of all Jim and Debbie Taylor for opening up their land and their home to so many from all over the country. This had to be one of the most fun tournamnets I have had. I had the best three cards a guy could ask to play on, with some of the best players in our division. The weather stayed nice, with the exception of the 40mph winds but we all had to play it and it was interesting to say the least.
Thank you Jeff Ash for the fabulous fireworks display on Sat night. ;)
Hats off to Tony Walker for walking over knee deep in mud to get his disc. If he hadn't had boots on he would have lost his shoes in there for SURE! ;)
Thank you Staff, volunteers and everyone that made this event possible. :D

On another note: the only good break I had all weekend- Hole #9 on the Island Course, I throw my drive just short and a little right. I am left with a knee putt thru limbs on the edge of the fairway!! Big slanted rock about half way to the basket and I must just miss it to go in. Well I hit the rock proceeds to skip on the same line it was on and went right in AWESOME!!!
