Yes, www.titledisc.com (http://www.titledisc.com) is now up and running. Entries are starting to come in by both mail and titledisc.
Also, Randon is still looking for and needing more sponsors. In addition to the $75 option that gets your name or logo on a tee sign and in the program; there is also now a $100 option that gets you that plus a tournament disc.
Contact Randon at

Harry-
It's pretty quite on the thread. I understand you are playing mixed-dubs. I guess that might be a growing division, enough to be around a while.
Stevo and I went out yesterday and the course is in great shape. The Land Baron did some minor strategic pruning, but don't get your hopes up-it's still a course that has tough lines with each year's growth. Also, we will probably have north winds again on Saturday's round. That'll be fun.

Team Lists?????
gordonmk
Feb 26 2009, 08:08 PM
I'll try to get to posting a list when I get home tonight.
In the meantime, we have 8 spots left in Flight A (advanced and adv. master teams only).
If you want to play in Flight A, but didnt pre-register, you have to drive out to the ranch tomorrow (Friday); first come first served for any available spaces, starting at 1pm. You have to come out to the ranch to register and pay, and you MUST be there no later than 11pm. Earlier is better! More chance of spaces being available, plus the chance to set up camp, practice, relax, party, etc. Randon is very strict about this, he wont hold spots just because someone calls and says they are coming out. Per the flyer:
FOR FLIGHT A ONLY: AT LEAST ONE TEAMMATE MUST CHECK-IN ON FRIDAY FEBRUARY 27TH BETWEEN 1:00 PM AND 11:00 PM (or register - if space still available). This person must pay all the teams fees that are still due: ace pot, non-PDGA fees, etc. NO REGISTRATION OR CHECK-IN FOR FLIGHT A ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 28TH. Any pre-registered team not checked in by 11:00 pm on Friday will be dropped and replaced by a team on the waitlist.
So no driving out Saturday morning and signing up, even if there are spots. And no no driving out Saturday morning and checking in, even if you did pre-register.
Flight A must be there on Friday.
The only way to get in now, is to make sure you get to the Snow Farm tomorrow afternoon (sometime after 1:00pm) and register and pay there.
Only divisions still open are Advanced and Advanced Masters divisions.
gordonmk
Feb 26 2009, 08:11 PM
Wait list has been started for Flight B (Adv.Gr.Mstr, Intermediate Men & Women, Recreational Men, and Mixed). 5 or 6 on the list so far including 1 team that got signed up on TitleDisc before we could get it shut down. Many of those teams are registered in advanced, just to be sure to play, but will switch over if we get a bunch of cancellations on friday.
If you want to be added to the list, call me tonight at home 512-858-0119, or tomorrow morning between 7:30 am and 9:30 am. After that I'll be heading to the ranch where I get no cell phone reception, so call Randon on his cell: 979-451-2069.
From the flyer for flight B: There will be a short check-in & registration period Saturday morning February 28th from 7:30 am 8:30 am. Any pre-registered team not checked in by 8:30 am will be dropped and replaced by a team on the waitlist. So if you are on the waitlist, you technically dont have to be at the ranch until 8:30 on Saturday (but you dont want to be there any later, because if we call your names and you arent there, well go to the next team on the list). You are still welcome to come to the Ranch on Friday and play the casual doubles round or practice, and see if there have been any cancellations, but at the very latest you need to be there by 8:30 Saturday morning, ready to register if there are any spots available.

Regarding fireworks and fires: NO fireworks!!! Only the Land Baron himself can do those.
If there is not a burn ban (and we hope to get final word about that from Randon soon), then fires in the camp sites are permitted, but still NO open ground fires . You can use a grill, pit, etc, but it needs to be contained in something.
This is a Ranch Rule that Randon put in place a few years ago after he had too many instances of beer bottles being put into the campfires and then him finding broken glass all over the ground for the next few months.

Okay gang...it's always a challenge trying to figure out how to "fool the system" in uploading these doubles scores, but I think I've got it. Please check them out ( Click on me! (http://www.pdga.com/tournament-results?TournID=8717) ) and let me know if something doesn't seem quite right.
For the mixed doubles teams: I had to get all of you into a separate division by yourselves, so I chose to use the MA4 (Novice) division for them. I uploaded both player's last names in the first-name and last-name fields and generally used the PDGA number of the first player. I a couple of cases, I swapped player 1 and 2 around if the player 1 didn't have a PDGA number.
Everyone played Red tees for their first round. After that, I plugged the A-flite folks into BLUE tees and Intmediate & Adv. Grandmasters into White tees and everyone else remained on Red tees. Par value was set at 56 for those configurations that played #10. The B-flite folks didn't play #10 in their final. (Oops! Just realized that I probably left the Final 9 setting at 18 holes! I'll fix that in a second.)
Also: I made a scoring error on the Final-9 for the MA1 division. I swapped two scores inadvertently and it wasn't pointed out to us until yesterday...after payout was done! Crap! It shuffled around the final standings in MA1 a bit...the results online should be correct scores though! My humblest apologies go out to Seth Johnson and Mark McCoin for my mistake. It'll be fixed in the results sent to the PDGA.

Since Mixed was open to all skill levels, for the purpose of points calculations shouldn't it be set to Advanced?
I uploaded both player's last names in the first-name and last-name fields and generally used the PDGA number of the first player.
Again, for the purpose of points don't you need to have both players listed, a la the Birdshot Doubles event last December:

Easy does it ERic ! [take a deep, cleansing breath..]
Remember that the results I have posted are the "un-official" ones. The official results will be sent directly to the PDGA and it clearly lists both players and their PDGA numbers and their divisions. I might be wrong about this, but the points awarded for playing in this event are a function of its tier status (xc-tier in this case) and not of the division. I think that Recreational players are awarded the same amount of points as Advanced players.
You probably haven't seen the tournament-admin stuff associated with uploading scores and setting up the course configurations for ratings purposes, but it isn't easy trying to figure out how to upload results that aren't singles format...or configuring the field-mapping stuff. The upload system only allows for one player's info so I had to choose one column of PDGA numbers or the other...when you view the results, it takes you to the first player's PDGA info and uses that players rating. I probably could've spent a LOT more time and researched everyone's rating and then placed the highest rated player on the left column, but I took the lazy way out and simply chose the column that had the most completed PDGA numbers in it.
I think it is interesting to note that there was only one 1000-rated round out there. I guess that ought to show how much that wind affected everyone's game! I think usually there are many more 1000-rated rounds out there in the doubles format. I'm off to see if I can see last year's results...but I'm not expecting to find them rated once they've become "official."

AM Doubs this year was supposed to be an XB-Tier. And doubles formats do award points that scale based on skill division.

The round ratings are based on the ratings of the one team player you chose to list on the upload form, right? If you essentially randomly picked the player number/rating to list that could partially explain the lack of 1000 rounds.

Hmmm...I haven't paid much attention to changes in the points award stuff...interesting though...seems designed then to motivate folks to move up a division.
At any rate...I think you missed my point which is that the results I uploaded are NOT official. The official ones are put in by the PDGA when we send them a check and the official report/spreadsheet. All is clearly recorded on the TD Report which goes to the PDGA. That is when they change in appearance to the ones in last year's results.
Hmmm...I suppose you might be right about the results and lack of 1000-rated rounds out there, but still, remember that this is doubles format and hence you would expect to see better scores than you would for singles and correspondingly higher ratings as a result. It might be that setting the par value for any of the 18-hole configurations to 56 was a bit too low. I wouldn't consider all of the rest of those holes to be par 3's but I can't figure out what other hole to give par 4 to...
Basically though...ratings for a doubles format isn't really valid anyway, right? I just always think that it is interesting to see what a rated doubles round would be if it were singles. The ratings are only around until the PDGA makes them official by replacing them with their hand-entered set from the TD Report...that only happens when they get the report AND the check...unfortunately...Gordon is always very prompt about that sort of thing! :D

Larry it doesn't matter if better scores were shot. The ratings are based off the pool of scores so if they are all lower than normal a 1000 rated round would be a lower score. Basically if even was normally 1000 it might be -5 in dubs.

Remember that only the first round was "best shot" which would provide significantly improved scores over singles. Round two was "alt shot" and round three was "best score".

Par value should have absolutely nothing to do with SSA and round ratings. Those are based only on the scores shot and the player ratings of those shooting the scores.
