We're working out the final dates for the Pecan Park Open this year. We usually hold it on the third weekend in April, and the first several years we've held the first weekend in April. But with Texas States on the first weekend, and the Texas Women's Championship on the third weekend, and World Doubles in the same month, we're looking at either the same weekend as the Texas Women's Championships date, but would not be able to offer a woman's division. The other date we're looking at is the last weekend in May, which would be a pretty big shift from when we normally do it.
Craig, our club president and last year's TD has been in touch with Gary Duke to work out the best date, and there should be a final date set sometime this week. I will post on this board as soon as I have the word.
There have been some mandos set up at Pecan Park since last year's tourney which maybe used for the tourney, I'll keep you guys updated on that as well.
Otherwise, Nacogdoches has two new courses on the way located at Lake Nacogdoches. One of the courses has already been planned and the baskets should be up in a few weeks, we really hope for them to be there by the time the Pecan Park Open comes so people will have the chance to see what our town will have to offer for future tournaments. they will not be available for use in this year's PPO, but maybe next year or a fall tournament.
feel free to contact me through PMs on this site, or you can send me an email at anarak82@hotmail.com if you are a troller.
otherwise, I can always be reached at 936-556-3667 if you need any other information concerning the Pecan Park Open or Nacogdoches Disc Golf.
thanks,
Grayson Middlebrook

World Doubles are in March this year, aren't they? I vote for anything but TWC weekend. Great event that has run against TWC in the past and that stunk.

I would not worry about running Nac on TWC...you will get your regular folks and depending on your added money big name pros.....I would hate to miss Nac myself....but I am sure I'll get over it.
You will not have to buy a women's division trophy

The club has asked for the last weekend in May. It really is that tight in the spring.

FYI this will most likely be the same weekend as Flying Solo May 30

Hmmm....that's not good. I have a feeling we won't see any of the RR/Austin bunch if they're the same weekend. PPO is a long running tournament. Seems like it would have gotten more consideration to keep it close to its original time slot. It really won't be the same having it at the end of May. One of my favorite things about the tournament is being in East Texas in the spring when everything is starting to bloom, and it's perfect golf weather.
Hey, I see Easter weekend is open. ;)

Boerne to Nach would most likely meet the distance requirement, but obviously you haven't met The Colonel yet. :D

Well, I see it landed on May 30-31. I hate that this is the same weekend as the "Flying Solo". I'll miss seeing all the Austin/RR area peeps. Still looking forward to it. My girl and her family will be playing they're first disc golf tournament. :D

yes, the PPO will be held on May 30-31st. I'll be making a new thread sometime this week or next so that the first post will have more accuarte info. Hope that's not spamming....
it does suck that we've had to bump the date to late May, but next year we hope to have a march or april date,
there's the georgetown event and mckinney event on the same weekend, so I guess it looks like our event will be competing with austin and dallas area events on the same dates.
But on the state level, this is really nice for Texas. There's a tourney in 3 regions on the same weekend, so on the bright side and a more altruistic level, it's a great weekend to be a disc golfer in Texas.
I'll get the new thread started promptly when I get in touch with Craig about the final info we want posted here. as always, if you have any questions, don't hesistate to contact me.
