how will the winnners be decided by just the golf score or a combination of games? just curios and is there only $10 of the $20 going towards payout or is there a payout? thanks

Yeti

Great question SeaHorse,

Each game will be separate.
--The Disc Golf portion will have a payout (cash-Pro, merch-Am)
--Mini Golf will be free and have divisional awards
--EDGE Skillshot Challenge will be free unless you want to earn your awesome EDGE patches for a $5 EDGE donation.
--Basket Throw will be $2 per throw or 3 for $5 to win an Innova DISCatcher Sport.
--Dodgebee will be free and for your PRIDE
--Raffle tickets for purchase or with donated food items (We are Accepting Raffle Donations)

And yes, $10 of your entry goes for disc golf in schools, food for those in tough times and for building and maintaining disc golf courses :D
What a great way to have fun and do some good!

Bring your Mexican Mask

Do I need to bring my mini trophy basket?

Yeti
Jan 12 2009, 12:17 PM
Super D, bring your mask for sure!

I sense a "freak of the week" opportunity ;) and most definitely a no-holds barred Basket Chain Match.

Yes, bring your mini basket. Jimbob and Laura are bringing theirs as well. We need just a couple of more to have a 9-hole course!

Lunch will be FREE to all players this year :D

We are so thankful for the great staff at The Texas Roadhouse of Live Oak (Dean and Dana) and of the Austin based Sweet Leaf Tea (Macy and Happy). These fine folks will be serving up grilled burgers, chili, Frito pie and Sweet Leaf Tea!

We have heard of a lot of folks that are going to be able to participate with the move to Sunday. The city of Live Oak is being very accommodating as usual and we thank them as well.

Huge shout to the LODGA and all of the San Antonio clubs and disc golfers. It is you all as a collective that is making the area strong. The wheel is always stronger with the spokes working together. ;)

Please don't forget to bring some non-perishable food items for the Greater Randolph Area Services Program. All food pantries are running low in these tough times and this is a great time to help. Plus, it brings karma birdies ;)

Bringing in a food donation will get you bonus raffle tickets and we have some special recognition this year for our top food donation!

Hey Yeti, can you use regular mini's or will mini drivers be better? This sounds like fun!!

Yeti
Jan 22 2009, 03:08 PM
Almost any mini works, but the Innova Driver minis are most excellent as well as the Discraft mini-Ultra Stars. The only minis that shouldn't be used would be the metal minis, sorry C-Ware

Mini Golf will be free and also have some awards.

We will have some cool Yeti Minis available for this.

Some folks at the Worlds Mini Championships have different minis of varying sizes and stability just like the real deal :D

Yea, sure, eliminate the overwhelming favorite C-Ware( the Tiger Woods of metal minis)! Now everyone has a chance!

Good times yesterday for sure. Thanks to the 60+ folks who participated in the event. The mini golf and EDGE SkillShot Challenge were BIG HITS! Many players discovered that the mini is not just for marking. I will get some results up later today, but here is the good news:

$1,000 raised for EDGE programs. We already have three schools in the San Antonio area targeted for this money. :D

$100 and almost 300 lbs of food for G.R.A.S.P. Food Bank.

$200 for the Live Oak Disc Golf Alliance for future courses in the area.

Great work everybody, thanks!

On a more somber note

Jimbob Karshis, who is a great help each year with helping and lending stuff had his DISCatcher Sport snagged from the alternative 15B placement. I am assured it wasn't our Ice Bowl participants. My guess is some casual players saw opportunity at lunch since we were off the course and the area is sight protected. Just keep your eyes and ears open. We are going to obviously make it up to him, but just wanted to make sure the Karma detectives put a few more on the case.

We luckily got all of the mini baskets and stuff for the SkillShot back to their rightful owners. That was quite the undertaking setting the tournament course, 9-hole mini course and SkillShot course. Your smiles and laughter made it all worth while.

I was about to flame you for this:

Corey Peschlce 67

but you got the spelling right in the next post:

Bring the Most Food
Jimbob Karsish
Rick Gaskill (close 2nd)
Corey Peschke (nice $$ donation)

so no flaming will ensue. :D

I always enjoy playing your events and this one was no exception.
