I think that the PFDS needs to make a calender with all of the Monthlies, PFDO, Ironwood, etc dates and details listed on it. I know we have the online calender, but I think it would be really cool if we could make an actual calender with everything listed on it to hang on the refrigerator. Perhaps 1 page, or multiple, depending on cost. These calenders could be handed out to the people who play the monthlies when they enter or to random people at the courses. I think it would be a great way to get more people to come to the events.

I know Jerry has a list of next years events, so if the club is willing to fund a 1-page up to a 12 page calender, then I am willing to design and take care of it right away. Either way, I think that it would be a good way of spreading the word about our events. This way people would know what is happening all year round without having to rely on the computer with emails or the online calender.

Maybe we could do the 1 page calender for all of the randoms, and monthly players, etc. And do the 12-page full color calender for PFDS members? Perhaps charge the members a few bucks if needed? Anyway, after seeing Jerry little pocketbook calender with dates last monthly , and Lori getting a calender for Christmas at her work party, I thought, what a great way for us to keep people up to date on our happenings.

Good suggestion. The problem I see with that idea is that our PFDS Events Calendar changes during the year. We have set tentative dates for monthlies and a handful of regionally sanctioned events, but if last year was any type of indication, we will have to change those dates as more PDGA events pop up on the tour schedule.

What we could do is provide a screen print of each month's events to players participating at our local events. In addition, we should post each month's events on the bulletin boards at all of our courses. I have looked into making a 12 month calendar using a different course photo each month. One thing I've learned in the process is that those things aren't cheap! Of course, I've only priced out individual calendars and have not looked into a bulk purchase.

This has also crossed my mind, but then I thought about what Jerry has brought up about flex dates.

I think a better idea is that everyone start buying their holiday glass products... lol

I need to get the mini's going soon. Dangit. Someone get me more hours in the day please.

I suppose we could create a Pittsburgh Disc Golf calendar where we order a limited number based upon pre-order sales. Dated materials like a 12-month or 18 month calendar would quickly loose it's value over time, thus, pre-order sales would really be the only way to go. It's hard enough to move our stock of left-over Ace Race discs.....imagine what it would be like trying to move 2009 calendars in 2011. :D

yeah we don't want a lot of calenders.

But if it were only to cost a couple of bucks to make 100 1 page calenders that we can hand out to all of the players of the monthlies and people we see playing at the courses, then we should do it.

And yes we will have the problem with date changes....or perhaps we could really set our monthlies dates in stone. I know other things come up, but with so many monthlies and so many pdga events happening all the time, perhaps we should set a schedule in stone, even if it means the majority of us can't be there for that weekend.

At least we would have some consisitency.

Or we could also list the PFDS.org addres on the calender with a disclaimer saying that dates are subject to change, please check the pfds website before coming out to our monthly events. And also something that says, join our email list for date changes, cancellations, etc.

A full 12 page calender might be too much. But what about 1 11x17 piece of paper with some pictures, dates and other important PFDS info on it?
