Or some may call it 'appropriation', or even a 'ripoff'. You be the judge:

If you gave one to Steve, then I'd say inspiration - you should be flattered :)

I did. I am not.

Are you talking about Steve's ripoff of your disc design or your ripoff of Denny's logo, menu item and menu item name?

My question is which is it for the Spotsy Slam? - that looks awful familiar to me...

where did I get that slam from? Wasn't Spotsy's....

If you're asking for Prime, you need to ask yourself too.

I didn't scroll to see the second disc, I though it was a Denny's ripoff for sure.

Whatever they are, I want them as a Supercolor stamp. I would pay for that.

who's rippin off who's rippin off who?

I'm bettin Denny's is the only one of the three that had anything close to a copyright.

BTW. I like the Spotsy one. Do you have any left for sale?

Man - must have paid a fortune to get BOTH sausage and bacon on that first disc.
Personally I don't think the existence of exhibit 2 takes away from exhibit 1 at all.
Inspiration: yes
rip off: not in the slightest

Inspirational, hilarious, and ridiculous at the same time. Are they scratch and sniff too? Can you bite off a chunk to snack on at long tournaments? Breakfast is the most important meal!

A friend of mine described a very similar stamp to me that he had designed and was planning on getting printed on some plastic. This was two weeks ago...

So, where are the hashbrowns?

The Spotsy is satire ... fully protected under copyright law and general artistic integrity. The Prime is overall bland... color, composition, etc.

Personally I'd try not to put out a weak version of a design that already existed (even if it only exhibited conceptual similarity), and was itself a satire of existing artwork. Neither are awful though. I think the Spotsy is a great disc design, and very well-executed.

It's like double-dating with your girlfriend's much hotter sister, or if Hasbro produced a Wasp clone... it'd be the worst Roc ever.

Wow, I really typed up a completely [censored] response to this while sloshed last night. I'm really glad I hit the post button, it went to preview... and then never went further. I, for one, support renaming the Preview function the "safety" function, and considering it a way of preventing overly inebriated PDGA members from making posts they should not be making.

eh besides them both being breakfast related they are not that similar.

The first one is way better, it actually looks like a promotional piece. The second one just looks like someone just took a pic of their breakfast. Besides the breakfast theme why is the second one a ripoff?

I never said it was a ripoff. Just asked the MB readers what they think. Maybe one of the five who voted for that option can chime in . . .

You're asking the question so it obviously crossed your mind. So maybe you can expand on your thoughts behind it.

"Obviously?" I think not. Maybe it crossed my mind. Maybe I was bored at work & looking to stir the pot. Maybe this is all a publicity stunt cooked up by Dodge & me to sell more Spotsy Slam STAR Ontario Rocs & Prime Disc Mini-Stars. Maybe I was trying to navigate to find the 2009 renewal documents & hit the wrong series of keys. Maybe I lent my username/password to Sheila Calhoun & she did it (in which case I'll petition Brian Graham for an after-the-fact waiver of MB rules, of course). The possibilites are endless . . .
