It was really cool to hear that the PDGA has selected the Lodge for one of their 2009 NT stops. I'm really looking forward to returning to Tulsa in the spring to see the progress of the Lodge, see Jim & Deb and hang out with the rest of my home town homies.
I would also like to announce that Courtney and I are planning to have our wedding there on Friday April 23rd. We couldn't think of a better place to be able to have all of our Oklahoma friends as well as all of our Disc Golf tour friends there to see us make the plunge into married life. Obviously everyone is invited and we are hoping to make into a big time blowout!
We are hoping for good weather because we want to do it on the Island. We picture Courtney walking over the bridge and seeing everyone surrounding the lake. It looks like Jay Reading will be doing the ceremony for us as he is an ordained minister and has done a few weddings in the past and we couldn't think of a better person to do it.
We hope everyone can make the tournament but if not hopefully you can join us on a blowout of a friday night. We can't wait to get back to Tulsa and see you all again.

The Lodge Report
Had a very good day at The Lodge today. Finally got the directTV installed. Today we had The Lodge Crew doing some serious work to the building, Wagle, Slack, Penny, and one of my guys. Got started pulling new electric. Got the kitchen figured out, thanks to Slack and Wagle, gonna work smooth. Moved one bar about 6 feet, works better this way.
Tony Griffith, another guy that likes to play disc golf, was up today. He owns Native Audio Visual. We went over the IT set up. In The Lodge, we will have a camera fixed on the stage, one above the stage fixed on the crowd in the main room and two on the course. One will be near 18 of the Island course that will show the Island hole and 18. This camera should provide a really good angle of the "WEDDING CEREMONY". The other camera will be situated in an elevated booth on the Moccassin Creek course that should provide good shots of holes 1, 2, 16, 17, and 18. The plan is to have live webcasts from the 4 cameras with a switching station in the clubhouse so we can change the broadcast from camera to camera. So, today we had the guys from IT, DirectTV, AEP, DSL and the crew as well. Good day at THE LODGE.

After previewing the new Moccasin creek course yesterday, the McCoy honeymoon suite on the pond, the clubhouse which will have a stage, bar, enormous kitchen, directTV, webcast setup with cameras, etc. I can predict that this will certainly be the BEST NATIONAL TOUR EVENT IN 2009!
Make plans to be in attendance!

JT,
Are those double-wide trailers that are on your land for family or for rent?

Nope, I do believe that trailer is being set up for Deb's Mother.

You are correct, Dave. We have not begun to address lodging issues yet, still trying to put the clubhouse to bed. For the tournament this is what I am planning, deb and I will stay with her mom next door in the new doublewide. Our house is 4 bedroom, Jeremy and Lindsey will be in 1 so there will be 3 available here. The cabin is reserved for "the honeymoom suite" and Joe and Danielle have the RV. I have a single wide two bedroom trailer house up at the yard that I am going to bring down here and add on 4 more bedrooms and 1 more bathroom. That will be a 6 bedroom unit with a common living room area with TV and kitchen. We will have the bath house finished on the property with 2 showers each for men and women and 2 toilets each for men and women per side. I am looking for another single wide trailer house that I can buy and build into another 6 bedroom unit. When I get these units built, you will never be able to tell they were ever a trailer house. They will look just like cabins, it is just that by buying an existing trailer house we get one heck of a headstart on a lot of the building.

The Lodge Work Weekend. In years past I have been involved with fundraising events that were very successful. Success depends on the support of the people concerned. This weekend I would ask that all of you that can, try to make it to the lodge for a fundraising organizational and planning meeting. If you have never been involved in any kind of formal fundraising effort, you may find that it is much easier and fun than you think. You might be surprised what kind of things generate funds. One year we had a mule rodeo that generated nearly $3000. Benefit auctions generally raise several thousand dollars. Maybe we could have a dinner and music here at the lodge. Please try to make it up this weekend, even if you can't stay and work, just come up for a short brainstorming session for fundraising. We will have this meeting at noon when we take a lunch break. Lunch will be burgers furnished by The Lodge.

Nice meeting today at the Lodge. The NT Crew had a AWESOME brainstorming session! Todays efforts advanced the over all mechanics of the event and will help keep every department on track. Thanks to big Jim and crew we have already met most of the PDGA NT requirements in the course and cash areas. With Treats and Danielle on commo and networking we are up to par on in that area. The Lodge webmaster Bobby is also in the house and is eager to put video out pre, during and post NT. After seeing the progress on the Lodge and restaurant I am confident Jeremy will make sure the food will be great and warm and the beers and sodas will be cold and tall. That leaves big Jim and the earth moving posse to put the finishing touches on two of Oklahomas best courses.
Not only do I smell NT... I smell over the top NT. The TDSA, The Lodge and Twisted Flyer have a solid / proven record as single entities... put them all in motion together and watch it roll...
Still looking for 4 hospitality agents and 12 spotters. If you are interested in joining our staff pm or call me.

john i really appreciate your sacrifice this weekend,
i think your being too kind on the people who didnt come and help by placing enfacice on their fammilies and such, there are a select few that worked or had family issues but those that chose play(not holiday or family related) aught to be ashamed of themselves.

I would like to personally thank everyone who showed up and helped in whatever capacity. I know some of you showed up to work and I never let you get to actual work because I kept you busy pumping you for information. It was a tremendous learning opportunity for me this weekend. Remember, I have not been involved in this sport as actively as many of you have in recent years. When I used to play disc golf 30 some years ago, it was like Ok. hole 1 will be that telephone pole, hole 2 will be that tree over there and so on. Being able to have a captive audience of even just 1 or 2 with a different perspective often provides me with the luxury of tapping into years of experience and different perspectives that I feel will only help me address these different concerns as they relate to the overall disc golf resort environment that we are trying to create.
With respect to the number of people who showed up to work, I was thrilled. Chris Wagle, Brad Hoi, If you guys ever need anything that I can help you with, I'm there. We all serve in different capacities, me, I'm FAT, so don't count on me walking up and down a ladder or standing on scaffolding. John and Carla, reliable as clockwork for whatever needs done, even painting the lodge huh, Carla. Wayne Forest, I saw you up there on that scaffolding, you are braver than I am at our age. I appreciate you man.
Jay Slack, Penny, Brad Zimmerman and others, I realize that it is not easy to come from tulsa and delve into physical activities that we don't regularly do everyday. Trust me, I feel your pain days later. THANKS. Now, for the brains behind this outfit, Joe Rotan, without you none of this would be happening. Dave Wise, Michael and Andrew Treat, Danielle, aka Nelle, what a team. This is one well oiled machine. I can't imagine a more proficient, experienced team to work with. The Lodge Team, WOW! THANKS. :D
