I was startled to see the REI ad on the front page and then immediately thrilled! Nice work Brian and everyone.

Oh, wow, now I've read the new stuff. Even better.

Umm. Okay, now can you please post every single page of every related contract so that some of us on DISCussion can pick at it and criticize (and we will anyway, you can bet on that) . . .

oh, wait, whew! I was channeling someone else there for a second . . . now I'm back to me: Good job, guys! ;-)

Thanks, Terry! It's been a tough year finally getting to where we are, but it's really something we should all be embracing. While none of us really like banner ads on websites, I really feel Ciphent did a good job integrating the ads into our site in a way that is as professional as many (and better than a lot) of the commerical big-name websites out there.

I was also impressed to see REI as one of the advertisers. Ciphent is helping us achieve our goals of extending our marketing outside of our normal channels, and the PDGA is going to benefit from this partnership.

In addition, we now have a powerful content managment system that is finally going to give us a solid platform to grow the website and provide non-technical staff and volunteers and easy way to publish content to PDGA members and the disc golf community.

Thanks for your support! Hope to run in to you face-to-face again someday.

I'd like to add a notch to the "I disagree with the above opinion" column. These are nothing but typical contextual affiliate type based as networks and no "special added value" is being given here. If you had a page about horses, then horse ads would be shown.

I do think ads are a good way to make extra money for the site and pay for additional expenses or for added cash (actual added cash) to tournaments, but adding so much ad space to the homepage for non-paying sponsors is fairly obnoxious. The ad at the top of the page should really go. This is a well funded organization and the very first thing that anyone sees when coming to the site is an ad for those of that come from a western country reading top to bottom, left to right. That's an embarassment. Coming from an internet marketing and disc golf background, I've bit my tongue all day on this, but this is just truly insulting.

Me too. They are ads. You ignore them and move on to what you came here for. Unless it is for CaddyChicks and then you click on that! :D

Ads? What ads? Don't you all adblock doubleclick?
