The 2009 GCC dates are set. As expected, it is the weekend before the Memorial. This is a three-day event (February 27 - March 1). Still waiting PDGA sanctioning.

This is our 10th Anniversary and we are going all out!!! Last year, over $10,000 added to payouts (don't know if we can do that again this year, but we'll try). In 2007, we added $6,000 to the payouts. Not bad for a small A-Tier Event!!!

How soon do you think the AM side will fill up? I broke my arm in October, but I expect to be able to play before February. I would rather sign up closer to the first of the year, when I will have a better idea of how my rehab is going, and I will have more money because I should be back to work. Let me know how soon I need to sign up.

Thanks Bro. Just to be clear. This was not a full production piece here. I played that day and popped a camera out of my bag with the intent of trying to capture one or two drives from most of the top names. I thought it was good enough to share with y'all. Well...last year $12,600 was sponsored. Thanks to a $600 sponsorship from the Senior Foundation Grant Program and a $30 from Senator F.X. Hoffman, we are over $13,000 for 2009!!!

Sending registration in from Iowa here today (another Am player). I played the Halloween tournament and had so much fun that I am coming back and trying my luck (pun intended) at the Gentlemen's tournament.

Hey Jeff when do you think we'll have a course map with all the exact pin locations and ob's/mandos up?

Do you know what discs will be available at the event?
Is snail mail the only way to register, or can I do it in person? (If so, when and where will you be?)

Course booklet should be up a few weeks before event, which includes course layout.

Don't know what hot stamps discs I will order...but it will be limited. Club is overstocked will Halloween discs.

Pros can sign up online from PDGA's website. Snail mail is fine too at this time for all divisions.

When is the best time to pick up some of those overstocked halloween discs? I cant make it to Wed doubles at Sunset because of work.

I'll bring everything this Sunday for the 8 AM round.

Due to the recession we are in, I am reducing the INNColor sponsorship by $500. Starting February 1, our INNColor discs will drop from $30 each to $25 each. So total sponsorship dropped to from just over $13,000 to just over $12,600. But, I heard another $500 sponsorship may be on the way, so should be able to make up this loss rather quickly.

The artwork for this year, even just the hot-stamp/line art, is amazing. You will want to bring cash to buy our local merchandise. The final payout for the tournament is based on merchandise sold.

Two small blows to sponsorships. A hopeful $500 didn't pan out due to the bad economy...but they will donate some cool items for the dilent auction!!! Also, I incorrectly thought selling the 450 champion minis would raise $500. The amount is $250. But, we have two more hole sponsors...Barry Schultz for $30 (also won the last five GCCs!) and Pete Johnson for $30...for a total sponsorship of around $12,500. WE WILL EXCEED LAST YEAR'S SPONSORSHIPS...PERIOD!!!

Last years pro payout was about 220% of the entries. It will not be that high this year. Instead, the Pro player packages are going up from last year's $15 value to over $35 for this year. I need to spread the wealth a little more to ALL pro players. But don't worry, the 1st place MPO will still be paid well over $1,000!!

Everyone gets a DX black Aviar as part of your players package. I will NOT have ANY extra. These are valued at $10 each. (I know DX goes for $8, but black is worth more...and that is how much our club sells black DX for.) Everyone also gets a polo as part of their players package (valued at $25). WOW - 28 players in the open division that are near or over 1000 ratings (that doesn't even include all the baggers in the "MASTERS" division). This should be a great event with some great competition. If there are any locals who have wanted to share this sport with someone THIS IS the event to have them come watch. Can't speak for any one else but I know I can't wait for this!

I have 1 MPS spot available, 2 FPO spots, and 4 MPO spots. If all filled, we will have 205 players...23 more than last year. (And we are in a recession?)

Ams get 135% payback, including player packages. (High payback percent when you included the awards and other goodies included in tournament.)

Adding at least $5,000 to the Pros. Added cash was around $10,000 in 2008 and $6,000 in 2007. Maybe more added this year, depending on final sponsorships and disc sales.

The tournament is costing around $9,000 to run (which is why cash added is less this year). Polos alone over $3,500. I am spreading the wealth more this year so everyone wins!! This is our 10th anniversary so spending a little more on fun stuff than normal.

P.S. YOU DO KNOW THE 2008 GCC WHAT THE TOP A-TIER EVENT AND EVEN BEAT OUT A FEW NTS....RIGHT?

2/8/09 Update - Revised caddie book posted at lvbagtag.com. Includes draft payouts based on existing entries, estimated tournament costs, and sponsorships received to date. Any future sponsors now goes directly into pro payout.

Please take note of the ugle mug for the $60 sponsorship. If the weather is above 80 degrees, he said he might play in a polo, fancy socks, penny loafers, very used/sweat stained hat, cheap glass from 7-11, and a speedo...and still beat me!

For all of you masters who took this to heart I am sorry. It makes me happy beyond belief to see that you are no longer trying to hold on to your youth and have given in to the fact that you are just old ;).

2009 Las Vegas IceBowl - Thanks to John Ricker and Luke Butch for running our Ice Bowl this year. Had over 60 participants, AND RAISED AROUND $1,200 FOR THE CANDLELIGHTERS!!!! Way to go guys!!!

Dee Silver Person - A Dee Silver was arrested at our Ice Bowl Sunday morning. Thanks to the NC, TN, and KC clubs/contacts, LV police arrested him for a stolen vehicle, warrants out for his arrest in other states, drugs in vehicle, and likely stolen baskets in vehicle. This person also had number identity information in the van.

Why isn't there more smack talk going on here? This is the TOP A-Tier event, with lots of talent coming, but yet no one is claiming how well or poor they will do! Bamba said he'd grow a full beard if I beat him, and I will shave my goatee if he beats me!!!

2009 GCC Bosses sold out months ago. I sold them for $25 each! I threw 2 in at the Fountain at Fountian Hills!!!

For anyone that is in town already, we will be having our weekly random draw doubles tonight @ 5pm. All of the park lights have been on at night lately, so the entire course is lit well enough to not even need lights on your discs. Anyone interested, show up a little before 5 at hole 1. Cost is $7 per player.

Did all divisions play the same layout?

Yes they did.

Did wind change over the day? Looks like the Intermediate ratings are on the high side.

Yeah the wind was very up and down throughout the whole day.

If it was calmer when the Intermediate division played, it would account for their higher ratings.

There was no wind in the morning when the Int. played. The winds started picking up around 10 or 11.

Whenever we have events with tee times over a whole day where winds change by maybe 10mph or more, we just need to know things like that when the TD report comes in so we can do the ratings for groups of divisions separately when needed. It's been that way for Gentleman's the last several years with big wind variances during some days.

E-Mac shot a -15 today. Ridiculous!!! if that's not rated at least a 1085 that's crazy. A lot of good scores came in today. E-Mac (-21) took the lead by 2 over Billings (-19) and Schultz is closely behind (-18).

Scoring on the new website takes about 30 minutes from when it's uploaded to actually appear on the website, at least that's what we've noticed when uploading pre-reg lists for other events.

Players party was like 3 hours long but awesome! Thanks everyone, that was my most enjoyable round of my life!

A big shout-out to my bro, Rob Lee, for a fine 3rd place finish in Pro Senior GM. At least you kept pace with Peter Shive for most of the tourney. Congrats to Dr. Rick and his new division. :)
Rob turned down the money to play ADV with one of his sons, Jon, in the upcoming Am World Doubles in Texas.

This "1st Loser" wants to again thank Jeff, John Ricker, and ALL THE STAFF for another great Vegas Event.
As always I had a great time seeing all the top players in the country playing, and getting to talk with all my friends from the Disc Golf universe.
One day I will learn that the "TURF" in Vegas has been sent from Vista del Roller in Arizona, and therefore does NOT stop shots from going OB. 11 OB strokes in 3 rounds undid what could have been a top 8 finish in a field of 32 with 10+ being 980 or higher rated.

I look forward to seeing everyone again later this year for the Halloween Event. Could JohnR., Jeff, Cary, or someone in the club please post the dates for the Event or when the PRO side is (if split weekends) so I can make air, car and condo reservations.
I know Jeff asked at the awards ceremony about what people wished for, and MY vote was then and still is to keep the 3 day with tee times(FRI,SAT,SUN) for Halloween as well as GCC.
