History is being made on November 4, but history will also be made on November 18 . . . at the International Disc Golf Center. Thanks to much hard work and negotiation by the PDGA HQ and others, Ben Calhoun and Greg Hosfeld will reach a major milestone together by playing a round of disc golf on their 1,000th disc golf course - at the IDGC on November 18. More to come, but Ben's blog (http://www.discgolfersr.us/profiles/blogs/its-official-must-read-blog-of) has the first set of details. :)

Very, very cool!!!!!!! Fantastic feat being done two very different ways. I wish I could be there and I wish I was the third person achieving that goal!

I just updated my personal list and it looks like I'm in the high 490s. Might have to plan to hit 500 on November 18 to be part of the festivities with my semi-millennial course.

10 minutes to tee-off! I just spoke with Terry at the IDGC and they are getting ready to start. He has a phone signal and can send me info via Jott after each hole which I'll post here and on discgolfersr.us. Weather down there: 45 degrees, clear and a beautiful day to play your 1000th course. Stay tuned.

Well, our system is not working too well. In case you're not familiar with Jott: Terry can send me a text msg and email message by voice recording into his cell. Problem is, if he doesn't pronunciate well, it makes no sense. Like this: ____ was a large circle, right half circle right. Then I'll drove Greg that was on the woods, went through the woods. There's a 20 footer for 4.

I've left Terry a voice msg asking him to just call me after each hole. Hopefully he'll get the message, but I'll keep trying to reach him. Probably has his ringer turned off. :)

Yeah, Terry just called me. They have already finished nine holes. He'll now call me and tell me what happened after each hole for the remaining nine. So far the scores are: Hos +3, Ben +4, and Terry +4 (he's playing for fun).

They just finished hole 10, a 600 ft downhill with a left hook and lake at the bottom. Greg hit an early tree and they had to spend some time looking for his disc. Everyone took 5s. Score: Greg +5, Ben +6, Terry +6.

Stack: no significance to this date.

and.... ???!!??!?!

a storm pulled in ... blew all their discs away and they weren't able to finish the final hole on their 1000th course thus dooming them both to be stuck @ 'only' 999

Sorry 'bout that. The 18th hole is a very long, straight and tight tunnel woods shot going down hill and then severely uphill. (If I remember correctly.) We all tied on it, although Greg and I got there a little easier than Ben did. It was a lot of fun.

A visit to the IDGC is worthwhile. Three very challenging courses and a nice pro shop with an incredible disc selection is one thing. The museum is something else: To actually touch and feel the very first disc golf basket is an amazing feeling. I was glad to see the 24-hour video surveillance of the museum, as it contains incredibly valuable things.
