Whew! For a minute there I was worried about the website being down. Good thing they got the Store up and running. I was worried I wouldn't have a place to throw money at the PDGA. My fears are calmed for now. I guess while I'm waiting to check my rating, find a tournament, or find a course, I can order something to take my mind off of it.

Can anyone tell me what the content is like? Unless I'm getting some full round coverage of the top pro card, at LEAST for one full round, I won't be bothering with it.

The PDGA Store, membership processing and PDGAsignup were never down because they are on the servers handled by our contractor Breiner Enterprises.

So Steve, what would the true market cost be if you had to hire the videographers and editors, rent the cameras plus produce 1000 copies to complete your vid like the PDGA does? As as former director, you know it's about $35,000 for the PDGA which includes 1000 copies.

Hi Chuck,
Are you asking so that you can prompt me to submit a bid for the 2009 Worlds DVD?
We are a small sport and we need to spend our money wisely. I think creating an archive - and hopefully an entertaining one - of the PDGA Worlds is a worthwhile expenditure, and if it can pay for itself in the long run, I am all for it. Our store has already bought 25 of the Worlds DVDs and I hope to reorder before Christmas. I'd like to see folks get both and enjoy them for what they offer.

No, I'm suggesting that you charge $35-$40 retail because your DVDs have proven their worth. That helps other videography teams to justify continuing efforts like the Clash series to do a good job and consumers to recognize the value in getting quality video vs YouTube level. Your higher MSRP also makes it more valuable for TDs when you give away the DVDs in your promotional packages. At $15, it feels like predatory pricing and undermines what really is a valuable video addition to the DG community.

Anybody of a mind to answer a serious question that will determine whether or not someone purchases this DVD?

Very unlikely to have 18 holes of top card in Open ever on Worlds DVD. Probably will get highlights of the top cards during the semis and possibly all of the Final 9 like usual along with snippets of other divisions in the Final 9 in terms of actual play-by-play. The rest is usually sights and sounds from the various activities at Worlds along with great putts, great throws and some interviews with some players. I haven't seen it but that was the outline for the video bid this year and previous few Worlds.

Well, as one possible purchaser... Thats a deal breaker for me. I enjoy, more than anything, a consistent round of disc golf from one card. I don't care if its final round, or one of the rounds near the final one, where four of the top players are competing. I don't see why, with a week of nonstop golf, one day couldn't be reserved for coverage of lead card?

Because it's the PDGA not the TOP OPEN PDGA. The Worlds DVD tries to capture the history of the pro game whether right or wrong as a DVD strategy. Hopefully, play-by-play similar to the USDGC will be ramped up and get better each year for following Open when it actually happens rather than three months later.

Although I was pleased with the diversity of the coverage of different top players, including ams, I was a little disappointed with the lack of a full round of coverage for the open players. I wanted to see an 18 hole round, not a 9 hole safari. It was also a bummer that the Borg had it so wrapped up, the only thing we were really watching was the battle for second. I think it would have been awesome to watch Dave's semis round where he got 12 birdies in a row. I still like the format of the DVD, but ultimately, I do wish I could have seen more of the courses.

It is simple economics Chuck. I think the DVD will raise more money for the tourney with a $15 price tag than a $35 one. And even if the money raised is a push, I'd still rather get the video out to as many people as possible.
I've started putting video sections that did not make the cut on our YouTube page:
So far the Awards, nice runs, and putts from the clipping room floor are posted. More to come.

There are so many things that I would like to say in regard to your statements Chuck, but I will refrain since I would probably get a suspension for bashing on a "Good Ole Boy" friend of the PDGA.
But...to reply to some of it, the Clash series sells their dvd's at $15 a copy. Vibram is selling theirs at $15 a copy. USDGC dvd's sell for around $20. Disc Golf Live sells theirs for $10 a copy. Seems to me that the going rate is $15-$20 per copy. So, it seems to me that maybe the PDGA needs to adjust their pricing scale. It seems like everything out of the pdga's mouth lately is, "Show me the money".
Also 90 minutes is nothing for a dg dvd anymore it seems like. With a combined Worlds, I would think you could have hours and hours of coverage to use. And the way you speak of pricing for TD's about makes me sick.
I would comment more, but I don't want to get worked up more than I already have.

I get it but it's just like other things in the sport - those who learn or have the skills to do things professionally such as being TDs, course designers, promoters, videographers or even park departments with free courses can't ever make a living providing services for our sport when players get things from those who do it free or for much less than real market value. I realize it's capitalism and we all take advantage of the deals available.
However, these are the things that hold the sport back from becoming more professional and more mainstream. The PDGA tries or is forced to do things more professionally by paying market rates to provide member services and gets hammered for charging players "too much" when in fact they really break even or lose on doing so. Some players/members think they're getting ripped off because others provide a variety of services free or with predatory pricing that sometimes may be lesser quality but can also even be better quality because qualified people do them free. We can see some high profile trails of those who have bowed out because the sport didn't support their efforts such as Mace, Himing, Padham and DGTV. And more will follow.

I watched the entire video Kenny and only heard your name mentioned, and maybe a glimpse or 2 of you. Was looking forward to your finals footage.
Maybe it'll be in the sequel...

So I hit a 50 footer at about an 80 degree angle, hit another 100 footer, and park an 800 foot hole all in the final 9 on the last hole with cameras rolling and can't make it on the highlite reel...PRETTY LAME if true. Not
Thanks Chuck and Addie for at least reporting it live.
