Sweet..just did the PayPal thing and I am coming on down (with maybe a Max and a Vee).
Will the course be set up on Friday before the event? Will it be natural tees or pads (I have 3 pads from Innova if you need them, just contact me).
This was a sweet course the first year it was played and I am super excited about playing it again.

About 30 so far Bman

Yeah, we'll have it set up on Friday. It looks like it will be in the mod layout so folks can see the changes.
We are going natural tee's this year. The pads are a pain in the @!# and I saw a few people slip on the last year.

The one thing about natural pads is they get worn in quickly, especially if the ground is wet and this can cause some nasty teeing areas.

Don't be afraid to move the tee flags 2 - 3 feet in any direction. 9 out of 10 times this doesn't affect the hole and can help majorly with footing.

deoldphart
Nov 09 2008, 10:35 AM
Driving works well, I would try a helicopter, but, getting clearance may be a problem. With the crime in Durham, it would also be the safest.I would go with driving, try a Hemi, in case you need the exit power.

:D

twig
Nov 09 2008, 05:08 PM
From 40:

Take exit for 15-501
When it splits take 15-501 Business (far left)
Left on University Drive at the Q Shack
Park is on the right after about a mile

From 85:

Take exit 172 for 147 S (Durham Freeway)
Take exit 12, get all the way to the right and take a right at the first light, which is Mangum
Right on Lakewood
Lakewood becomes University Dr.
Park is on the left after about a half-mile.

Be careful either way, streets aren't the easiest to follow in that part of town. Here's the google link if anyone wants directions from their doorstep.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=...sa=N&tab=wl (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=forest%20hills%20park%20durham%20nc&u m=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl)

There's a small parking lot at the stop light on University, as well as a gravel lot on East Forest Hills Blvd.

See everyone bright and early Saturday!

Original hole 2 (par 5) is split into 2 par 3's.
Original hole 5 (par 5) is also split into 2 par 3's
Pretty straight forward split of those holes

Original 14 (par 4) will also be split up with the first part being an island hole** and the second one being a longer straight shot through the trees that make 14 such a good hole.

**From Brian Berman the original temp course designer "the island hole will be kidney shaped with a large landing zone in the front and a tight pin placement in the back. A good risk reward hole."

Robert,
2a we are moving the tee back and the pin will be tucked behind a tree on right about 375
2b will be about 300 to 350 with tee off on right hand side, basket in the original position (center 30 ft from road)
5a lefty hyzer with ob all along the right side pin behind first group of trees.300
5b 250ft shot to original pin location with a right and left side route
14a island hole 210 to 250 to pin
14b tee not finalized so it could be 250 to 300 to original pin placement

NOTE: I am guesstimating these distances from our walk through about two weeks ago.

"If it pours Thursday night and/or its raining Friday morning we will have flags set up where the pins are going to be. I know last year we had more than 20 people not playing in the tournament show up and play that Friday. Since we are using natural tees this year we don't want non tourney players muddying up our course."

I will post something first thing Friday morning so check here before you head out to the course.

Great tnmt Jerry, and Matt , and all the BCDG. They even went out of thier way to build a bridge for us to cross over the creek saturated by the recent rain. It was a blast play with all the older baggers from the Durham area. Trophy with gray hair, nice touch...LOL. Tnmt + home by 5.00, pricless. Love the layout. Get to play, and then become a spectator and watch the better baggers. Congrats to the winners, and special to LIL WIGG. It's a real priviledge watching him transform into maturity.
